Having just bought a LWB van, I needed something for my Kenwood headunit and it works brilliantly. Quality as as expected, but the features and options available by just cutting a cable is brilliantly worked out.
I had an aftermarket camera fitted to my car that had been showing signs it was on its last legs, by showing a grainy picture or not coming on at all, before it finally gave up altogether. I looked at the wireless ones but I prefer wired. Installation was easy enough although I had to remove the panel from the boot door again as I didn’t have the cable routed very well and the clip on the boot panel severed the power cable when I slammed it back in. Knew straight away what I’d done when I got into the car and tested it and got nothing on the screen, where it had been working fine. Cable length is perfect for a For Kuga and easily hidden under the trim. My old one had additional lights to assist in low light conditions but they weren’t great, so this is definitely an upgradeal as night vision is a lot clearer.
It’s also excellent for hitching up trailers or the caravan, especially when you have nobody to guide you.
In all, this is a good value camera and I’d buy another if I change the car and it doesn’t have a reverse camera as standard. I have rear parking sensors so coupled with the camera I’m a lot more confident when parking in tight spots now.
I picked this camera up mainly because of it’s design. The camera that came with our new head unit was just on a flimsy little bracket that looked like it would last about 30 seconds before falling off, this is a more solid unit, and has much more adjustment.
Cable is 6 metres long, but since it was getting installed in a Smart Fortwo, it could have been half the length and still been too long!
Camera quality is great, it says 1080p and while they may be interpolating it a bit to get that number, it’s plenty sharp enough for a 7″ screen in a ca
Bought another one only 3 quid cheaper and that is rubbish in comparison to this.
My Mini Cooper 6.5″ screen only supports non HD. So I am running it in cvbs mode instead of AHD and the difference is night and day compared with other cameras.
