This is my first snorkel, I read a lot of reviews about different ones and how they didn’t fit very well so I went for this one and it fits perfectly.
I reluctantly bought this for a recent holiday, just for snorkeling. I only say reluctantly as at the price I couldn’t imagine it being any good.
Well delivered, cleaned and packed. 4 days snorkeling in the Caribbean sea later and I’m very impressed!! I was able to tighten it enough to stop water ingress due to having a beard/moustache, without jeopardising the comfort.
Great value for money, great purchase!
Being lucky enough to live within walking distance of the beach, I tend to get through a fair few snorkel sets so I was pleased when I saw this one was available.
Both the snorkel and the goggles are comfortable to wear (well, comfortable considering what they are) and do a good job of keeping the water out of my lungs and eyes respectively.
There’s not a lot of fogging up inside the goggles but it does happen occasionally. It’s nothing to write home about though.
Great fit without being uncomfortable to wear for any length of time. Lense stayed clear with a little bit of spit.
As a first time snorkeler found no issues whatsoever.
This is traditional widely used version of the Snorkeling gear come in set of diving google and snorkel. This design allow you to squeeze nose when diving deep for pressure compensation, but you breath from mouth.
I also have a full face mask from Khroom that works differently, full face mask allow you to breath from nose but does not allow you for pressure compensation. I have include picture of both gear side by side.
Khroom full face mask is 24.99 while this one 13.99 almost half price.
Positive
– Goggle is made of tempered glass
– flexible rubber type material for strap
– it has drop top design for stopping water going in snorkel when you dive (many older snorkel are just open at top), there is floating cylinder which float up when you dive and block vent where water can go in.
– There is drainage a bottom even if small amount of water seeps in by chance, so good for beginners as it avoid chance of panic when water goes in mouth when breathing.
– clear view under water, though I have note yet tested in sea yet.
Negative
– black rubber type material is dust magnet, it took just two minutes for strap to start looking dirty.
– I feel diving google does not fit will on my nose, I could breath out from nose that caused fogging. could be just me as I have smaller head.
– last point is more of personal thing for drop top design I prefer ball shape floater (my Khroom has this design) instead of cylindrical floater, but hey if it works than fine.
Overall for given price set is nice with advance design feature. I have to use it few time to see the durability and scratch resistance.
For the price it is very good value. It does the job if you are an occasional swimmer on holidays wanting to look at coral reefs or sea beds.
Seems waterproof, though I’ve not had a chance to test it in proper action, a quick test run at the local lido.
For the current price of 13.99 this is an excellent quality snorkel and mask. I found it comfortable to wear and it sealed well. The snorkel attaches to the mask via a clip, that makes it easier to secure and position. I found the “dry snorkel” worked well and was effective at keeping water out of my mouth.
The only niggle I have is that I did experience some fogging, but not enough to affect overall vision.
This is a great snorkel and mask set.
The mask fits well with good field of vision and passes the suction test on my wide face. (Hold mask on to face and lightly breathe in and move your hand off the mask. If the mask is a good fit it will suction on without needing the head strap. If it doesn’t fit it will fall off when you move your hand away).
The head strap is also comfy and fully adjustable. It is silicon rather than elastic material however so while it will grip well it may stick a little to some peoples hair.
The snorkel appears to be excellent. It is of the type with ‘floating ball’ that rises if it makes contact with the water blocking off the air tube rather than a straight pipe which provides no water resistance if you dip your head too far into the water or an errant wave comes over your head. This ball cable feature should in theory allow you to dive down without taking the mouthpiece out however I have not yet had the opportunity to test that feature.
Overall this is a great bit of kit for adults and older teens.
I have mixed feelings about this adult snorkelling mass. On the one hand, the low fogging is fantastic — I practically had an underwater aquarium before my eyes! However, comfort took a nosedive (literally!) after a while. The nose guard, while effectively reducing leaks, pressed quite hard against my nose, leaving it feeling a bit sore and irritated after longer snorkelling sessions.
