Works perfectly with my 240Hz monitor.
Cable feels quite fairly durable – locks in and you need to press down to unlatch it from the PC, so no worries about the cable falling out easily.
Perfect for those looking for cables for gaming monitors.
At 13.00 for a 1M DP2.1 cable that supports 8K @ 240Hz, this is a future proofed cable and will last a long time, capable of handling more than the average consumer needs.
This comes in simple packaging that protects it adequately.
I’m still gaming in 1440p and I’m not expecting to upgrade for several more years as I prefer framerate over resolution.
This new cable should be fine for me until the end of my life, given its 16K specification. It also theoretically has UHBR20, HDR10+, and DSC1.2a along with a host of others. Basically anything in the DisplayPort 2.1 spec is covered by this cable.
I have tested it on both 4K and 8K screens and it worked fine at 120hz and 60hz respectively (I couldn’t test any higher, but that was a monitor limitation, not a cable one). At 1440p it was outputting 165hz.
The build quality is pretty good, strong moulding and strain-relief, and insertion is smooth yet also stays put.
For a 1-metre cable of this quality I think 13 is a little overpriced, as there are 3 metre cables with the same specification for under 20.
If you only want one metre then consider this as decent buy, but personally I would get 2m at least in case future setup changes occur.
I work in an IT department and we get through a lot of cables, especially display cables when people just rip them out.
This one looks like it will stand the test of time, however. Good signal through it, no problems, and appears sturdy with good solid connections that won’t pull out accidentally.
I can’t test it up to the fullest resolution but it laughed at all our screens, including some of our huge wall-mounted units, and was able to display all resolutions we were able to send down it.
Great cable, nicely made.
I tested this cable at 1440p and 165Hz and it performed flawlessly with no issues at all. Connected via the DP connector on my RTX 3090. While I am not able to test at any higher resolution, it feels perfectly well constructed and I have no reason to suspect it would not be up to the job. Good value too at 13.
Lo uso para conectar un kvm para compartir dos pcs con dos monitores (los dos a la vez) ms teclado y ratn y funciona sin problema. La resolucin a la que llega mi monitor es 2k 144hz, sin incidentes.
I am always a fan of CM prosucts and this one also leaves me feeling pleased. Their cables are (for the most part) properly rated with proper bodies and this shows. The construction of the cables is robust and these in particular stick out, as they maintain the proper clips and have a handy performance rating stamped into the connectors (which the orginal DP spec suggested – but noone ever bothers with!
Having put this to use on my Dell 5k monitor, it’s certainly seen no issues at 120hz – Would absolutely recommend over a cheaper make, or even the included box cables!
I’ve come to expect quality products from Cable Matters, so I’m delighted when their products pop up for review on Vine.
This is no exception. It’s a well-made and certified cable that provides the claimed performance for very little money; currently discounted to around 10 for a quality certified DP 2.1 cable.
I prefer the non-locking connector design of the Amazon Basics DP cables I’ve been using, which are cheaper for longer lengths; but they are DP 1.4, not DP 2.1 (DP80) like this cable. The Amazon Basics cables are also much thicker and less flexible, which makes routing them through my Sim Racing Rig a challenge; but they are still quality cables.
I’d love to use this on my Rig, but it’s just too short to reach. As far as I can tell they don’t make/offer a DP80 cable longer than a metre right now, which is a shame.
I’m not so fond of the fuzzier braided cloth sheathing, I like the smooth plastic sheath on this cable. So that, and the quality locking connectors. Nothing to not like with Cable Matters cabling.
I’m a huge fan of Cable Matters cables. I’ve never had a problem with one and they always work as advertised.
This DisplayPort 2.1 cable 1m, is no different and performs flawlessly connected between my RTX3060 and my 4k BenQ monito
Although this works, unfortunately I cannot make use of it as it’s just too short. That’s my mistake obviously. I took a guess and didn’t realise just how badly I was off.
I built a PC into a desk when I was in my woodworking phase and the route the cable needs to take to look tidy means I need a longer one. I did try this out and it works fine, but I can’t have it stretching over like it would.
This display port cable supports the latest DisplayPort 2.1 specification and should be able to drive a 16K screen at 60Hz or a 4K gaming monitor at up to 240Hz for very serious gamers.
The Display Port standards have the option to have a connector that lock into place, which this cable has for both connectors so you have to push a switch on them when you want to pull them out. This can be a bit awkward.
The display port standard has numerous versions only the latest ones have support for 16K screens, and the cables have to be matched to get the best results as they contain active chips that negotiate between the display and the computer. Extremely high data rates are required to run a 16K display at any speed, so it’s a big deal if your equipment and a similar data-rate is need to support higher resolutions. That makes this wire future-proof, even if it’s not used to its full capacity yet.
Being braided makes the cable nice and robust and less likely to be chewed by pets. The cable is light and flexible.
To stop our cat from trying to eat it, we sprayed it with Bitter Apple Spray ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R2MDS1N5KSUB3F/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0002DHPRQ ) which works for most pets.
Thick firm but flexible cable, well constructed and feels like it will last a long time.
The release button is a nice touch so as to avoid unnecessary and accidental removal.
Data transfer is good.
For the most part, people think a DisplayPort cable is a displayport cable and they’re all the same… Well if you are running a single standard 60Hz 1080p screen you would think that.
However, for those who have higher resolution monitors, eg 4K, or higher refresh rate monitors for gaming (or both), then the cable may well matter.
This DisplayPort 2.1 cable allows for 80Gbps transfer and for 16K 60Hz, 8K 240Hz maximum. This means it will cope well with a 240Hz 4K gaming monitor no problem. Or if you’re daisy chaining displays for multiple monitors, then this will be what you need.
This worked fine on 2x 32 inch 4K monitors daisy chained.
Construction quality seems good, and the cable itself as well as the connectors do feel solid enough. There’s a press clip which helps hold the cable in place once inserted properly.
At around 10 at time of review, for a branded cable, this is a real bargain!
I’ve tried some of the cheaper Display Port cables on the market and they never seem to be up for the job, however this cable works perfectly fine. Its a nice and think cable so I doubt they are scrimping on the conductors. Zero drop outs since connecting it to my rig.
It seems a little pricey for just a 1 meter cable, but then again 1M is all I needed and hey it works perfectly.
I’m currently using this between my RTX2080Ti and an Alienware monitor at 165Hz, the image is crisp, clear and has no tearing or issues. Checking the configuration of my monitor the cable has no issues displaying the correct RGB gaumet.
The cable quality is strong but flexible and the connector ends feel sturdy in the cable and not cheaply soldered on.
Great quality DP cable, well worth the money.
This is a 1m displayport 2.1 cable. It’s fully capable of running my nearly 4k monitor at 120hz, and works exactly as expected.
It’s a bog-standard black cable that’s simple enough, no more or less durable than others, but it’s also not at a price point where I’d expect a braided cable or anything like that. Exactly as described.
Good quality cable, pretty stiff compared to some, but no overly so.
The main feature is the ‘push-to-release’ buttons on the connectors. Great to have in many cases of course, but invaluable for connecting to monitors which have bottom-entry sockets.
At time of writing there’s a 20% discount available, so with the hope that this price holds:
On a quality/value-for-money basis… 5-Stars.
I had lost the original cable for my 4K gaming monitor and my backup cable wouldn’t run the fast refresh rates supported by the screen, 60hz only..
This cable resolved that again, back to 165hz 4K, 10bit color, HDR, and DSC, everything works again!
Cable is fairly flexible and easy to work with, the release buttons release the latches well and make removing the end easy. If you have experience with a lot of DP cables you might know this can be a problem, I have seen destroyed connectors because the latches didn’t release nicely.
Cable Matters always seems to deliver a good product that works as expected in a world where digital cables are problem areas.
This is good value for a high-performance cable capable of delivering up to 16K at 60Hz at a reasonable price for this standard.
Simply packaged the silicon rubber-coated cable ends in the standard locking DP connectors.
This DisplayPort cable comes safely bagged. I was pleased to see evidence of certification, it’s always reassuring. Dust caps are included to protect the connectors.
At 1 metre long, it’s a standard length if your source and display aren’t far apart. Quality seems very good, the cable feels durable with gold-plated connectors, metal housing and a thick PVC cord. There’s adequate bend protection at the joins.
Performance so far is excellent, the cable connects firmly at both ends with a good locking mechanism and 4K picture quality is perfect. Overall I am very happy with this cable.
I like this cable, it is well made and feels real sturdy. The outer rubber casing on the cable is reassuringly thick, meaning it would take a lot of abuse, so this would be ideal for people using portable monitors.
The contacts being gold are another plus point as you will get less signal degradation over time due to oxidisation, which gold offers good protection from.
The picture I got using this cable was perfectly fine and high fps, so I have no negatives here.
It does everything well and so it gets 5 stars.
Got this for my new monitor and it works a treat. The cable feels well built and stiff (a good thing in this case as means there is hopefully good shielding and the cable conductors are thick to reduce loss). One great advantage is that with the cable being from Cable Matters is there Customer Support is A+ if there is any issues. The cable is also easily identifiable if you have other as the ends are coloured orange to Identify it as a 80GBps cable from the standard 40 and 20s.
This is a 1M, DisplayPort 2.1 cable. I tested this with my 4K screen and it worked as expected, I had no connectivity or stability issues at all. I can’t test at the full 8K resolution that the cable supports as I don’t have a good enough monitor to do that.
The construction is good, the connectors feel robust and each end has a release button to disengage the retaining clips that are prevalent on DisplayPort connectors. The cable comes with an adhesive label on each end showing that you need to press the button to release it, so I guess this feature is not initially clear to everyone.
The cable is fairly thick and relatively flexible. The pins in the connector look to be gold plated as claimed, but I’m not sure that the outer shield is gold plated as its colour looks a little bit off. The gold plating is only there to prevent corrosion of the pins over time and ensure a good connection.
I’ve now reviewed a couple of Cable Matters products and all have been of good quality, so I am happy to give this a 5 star review.
This is a really high quality, top spec. Display Port cable. Being from Cable Matters, you know the performance and quality will be first class, since they have been around for years and are highly respected. The cable is really well-made, and most definitely premium. The cable length is 1m, so suitable only for close connection of equipment, but which does help to avoid cable clutter and entanglement. Just make sure 1m is sufficient for your needs.
The cable specification is very high, and the VESA certified 80 Gb/s, Display Port 2.1. It’s fully ready for the latest standards, supporting 16K 60Hz, 8K 240Hz, 4K 240Hz
The cable is very well — constructed, the outer sheath being heavy- duty. The collars are reasonable, but not extended / flexible, which can help prevent internal damage and fraying.
Performance is faultless, with no issues in any way. The connectors are gold plated, providing lossless connection.
To summarise, this is a high-spec, premium cable. Top quality, but a little on the pricey side though.
I hope you have found this helpful.
Cable works great, feels decent quality wise it’s not flimsy etc, clips nice and secure in both monitor and PC, picture signal and quality is great and works for both 4K and 8K output.
Really great quality well made cable. What looks to be great quality connectors too. Works flawlessly and being 2.1 you should have no problems using this with a high refresh rate/resolution monitor. Tested with a 1440p 240hz and worked perfectly.
Great brand great quality
Using on my PC to connect my 2070 Super to my 1440p ultrawide monitor. Whilst I may not currently be using the full 80Gbps capability it’s nice to know that it’s there in the future should I need it.
The cable itself feels well made and the connectors feel strong. One thing I would say though is make sure you measure how long a cable you need as this 1m cable is only just long enough to reach my PC.
A well made cable that certainly supports the maximum resolution of my monitors. The connectors are well made and fit securely in to the sockets on the computer and monitors I have. You do need to press the release button on the connector to allow them to be removed and this prevents cables from accidentally coming out of the socket.
The cable itself if black with a silicon rubber like outer, not braided fabric like some others. It is supplied coiled up, but once released it is quite easy to straighten and then adjust it to fit in the space behind a computer and screens.
Costing just 12.99 it’s great value for a 1m DisplayPort cable that supports up to 16K @ 60Hz.
I wanted the shorter length to help reduce cable clutter as I am runing a DP and HDMI KVM switch to run two montiors off mulitple systems.
The cable works great on my 1440p 165Hz monitor no issues to complain about.
Seems really well buit and there dont appear to be any weak points that are likey to fail over time.
Do be aware though that the connector/cable joint end is quite stiff so you need to mind your clearances and bend raidus
Not a lot to say about a cable. Far exceeds any specs most people will have but means it will be good for any new equipment you buy. Quality of cable is excellent.
This is a short 1m cable, but it packs a lot of power in that 1m, in that it can support 4K and 8K at 240Hz, which is just incredible amounts of data-transfer, far beyond what the standard needs are today.
I don’t have the means to test out those full claims as yet, but for regular gaming or high-resolution needs, this more than fits the bill as well as being future proof for when those resolutions and refresh rates become normalised.
Great cable, get it!
