I am not a film aficionado by any stretch but I know what I like and I liked this movie a lot! Cute and heartwarming, I can’t think of a single thing to criticize about it.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is such an awesome and a movie one can learn from about morals and what is important in life as a family. It’s not just funny but sentimental. When this first came out I had a copy of it and my nephews and nieces would watch this over and over nearly everyday. Needless to say, one of their favorites. One of my nephews was 4 and one of the nieces 3 and they couldn’t get by in a day without it. Their older sister asked me a couple of months ago about this and it prompted me to search for it and buy it for her. Even at 16 now, she loves this and it’s a great memory for her. So I surprised her with this purchase. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone. I’m personally not one for the subtitles so I was really glad that the options were there for the English dubs and turning the subtitles off. After all, I did have to make sure the video was up to par and looked good so I watched it before getting it to her. 😀 😉

I bought this for a couple of my grand children, but the modes used (which I already knew about) of corporal punishment for children was concerning. I hope folks in the U.S. have evolved a bit further than smacking and spanking their kids. I am giving it first to the parents and asking them to view it and see if they want their kids the watch it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is just a rare find. It is a treasured movie in this house. We’ll be watching this excellent movie with just such great values and the value of hard work and the human being. Couple things that’ll make you wanna go “Uhm, okay” but the movie is great. I think, for me, it was like I was getting the same feeling watching the Goonies or something. The movies are not the same at all. Only, the feeling of watching the movies were. Near Epic, for me. Will watch over and over. Note: keep a sharp eye for hidden treats from other Stephen Chow movies.

I love Stephen Chow. My kids loved this movie. They were 12, 10, and 7 when we watched it for the first time and they continue to watch it. It was only like 4 or 5 bucks, so I figured I would buy it instead of rent it for the same price!

The movie played great. Even had the little seal sticker that read DVD CJ7 on top so the movie was brand new from the seller. I would highly recommend this to anybody with kids or even adults because it is has a great story, plotline is great, funny, & heartwarming at the same time. Hope you guys enjoy!

CJ7 is a heartwarming tale of a boy and his father living in poverty whose lives are changed by the arrival of a cute little alien. It’s sort of a Cinderella meets E.T. kind of story, where the alien companion is like the Fairy Godmother. An action-packed film full of humor and heart. I also bought a copy for my 10 year old niece that adores it (she always wants to watch it and now she can whenever she wants).

his a sony production! i first saw this heartwarming story a few years back on cable and i am sure it may have been overlooked by most…..be sure to check it out as it is such a cute story! a lot can be ‘lost in translation’ so i prefer to watch this movie in cantonese with english subtitles….(dubbed in english just doesn’t cut it) …..if you know what i mean! it is a children’s story and is based along the lines of most disney productions in terms of defeat and triumph in the end! you will definitely get a kick out of the characters, it is a little mix of jackie chan and steven spielberg!

I was skeptical at first about purchasing a used video online. But I had searched every pawn shop in town & couldn’t find this movie. Service was fast & it doesn’t seem to be any scratches Products is really in like new condition. My mom said even though she cant set her DVD to make the audio english she just reads the subtitles & she has still watched it about 10 times.

I really liked this film, which can be watched with English subtitles and original Mandarin Chinese or With English language in the audio. If watching with the audio words in English, it is actually really good (as many films aren’t).

Suitable for children and adults, it portrays a boy who is always bullied and how an “alien dog” helps him overcome the bullies–is the dog real?/imaginary?–We never really find out which adds to the magic of the film..

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI picked up a copy of this movie from Netflix a couple of months ago for my 3rd grade son thinking it would be something to kill a rainy afternoon with. Turns out that it is much better than that. My son loved it so much that I had to get him his own copy. My wife and I watched it. too, and really enjoyed it. Besides the story, we enjoyed the look at a different culture from the everyday aspects of going to school and work.

The copy of the movie itself is great and was shipped very quickly.

I watched this movie whilst on holiday, it was very lovely, about a young very poor family, the boy finds this alien creature who has magical powers to fix things, but it uses the creatures energy, leaving it week and vunverable. This is a heart warming story, and enjoyable to watch.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI rented this first and then HAD to buy it. It was incredibly hard to find so I was thrilled it was available through Amazon.
It’s great for pretty much all ages.
It’s touching and funny and surprising and a great slice of life movie… granted the slice of life is chinese and not wholly familiar, but I don’t know of anyone who hasn’t loved it and I’ve watched it with many people multiple times!

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI stumbled across this movie as a pay-per-view rental while looking for something for my family to watch on a Friday night. My kids were a little put off by the notion of subtitles, but that concern was gone within the first 90 seconds of the movie. I went into the movie with no preconceptions (never heard of Stephen Chow) and was pleasantly surprised by the movie. I laughed so hard I cried, and I just plain cried. It is the little details in this movie that are surprising, funny, and touching. Just see it, with an open mind. Your kids have to be at least old enough to read the subtitles, and probably should be a bit older to really get the most out of the movie. It is NOT primarily about the cute little character, CJ7. It is more about the relationships between Dicky and his father and classmates, and how they are affected by what happens after CJ7 arrives. I am here to buy many copies for friends.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst off the negative reviews surrounding this title seem a little unfair. After reading them, I suspected that this film contained something completely awful. Such was not the case… though it does deal with themes that are a little mature I wouldn’t say that this film is for the entire family and that is it’s misconception. The film is geared more towards adolecents and adults more so than children. the film is quiky and what you would expect from Chow. but it’s humor is somewhat dark at times. Either way, should you sit your 8 year old next to you and view the film? I would say it’s probably not the best idea. but it is worth watching for yourself. CJ7 is quirky and sweet.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis movie was really enjoyable. It’s a family kind of movie, but that shouldn’t turn you off from watching it if you think that means it won’t be as good as Chow’s other recent films. His great sense of humor is throughout the movie, and it even has a parody of Kung Fu Hustle in it.

It is in Chinese, and I highly recommend you don’t watch it dubbed if that’s an option. There’s a specific gag that would probably be a lot less funny if you aren’t listening to the original audio track.
