This was fairly easy to put up and just requires a drill to make the holes. It comes in sections, so that you can adjust the length to your requirements. I would say that the ends of the poles don’t look so good, having just plastic caps on the ends, so seem a little cheap. If you’re after something a bit basic that does the job, then this will likely do.
Great. Sturdy. And you can buy another and add it to it to extend it although it’s advised you use a bracket to hold the middle of the pole to avoid it coming off from uneven load, etc. I bought one too small (silly me), but its ok, because i bought another and added to the first one I bought.
Comes in sections screw together makes curtain slide not so smooth
Each end has a plastic cover.
I cut 2 inches off smallest piece to make wall to wall over front door and side glass.
Brackets are good. A key hole style hole and slotted underneath
Adjustable distance from wall . Although for me the minimum wasn’t close enough.
Overall happy
This has a highly polished chrome finish which will work with most colour schemes. The metal is sturdy and this size of pole set has three brackets so there’s no snagging in the middle when in position.
The rod pieces are connected by placing one end into another and turning until tight. You can alter the length by using fewer rods. The brackets are adjustable, allowing you to choose how far the curtain rod is away from the wall or window frame.
Screws and rawl plugs are supplied and you just screw the brackets to the wall, place the curtain rod onto the brackets and tighten the screws to hold it in place.
The curtain rod looks good but the black end caps take away from the sleek look of the rod. I’d prefer a silver coloured cap or a discreet plug piece.
We have had adjustable curtain poles many times before, they have all been telescopic and the one thing I hate about them is the step where the inner pole exit’s the outer pole. The curtains always seem to get stuck at that point. This pole is adjustable in length by adding sections to it to get the length you want, this means the diameter of the outside of the pole is the same all the way along. No step. The drawback to this method is you can only get the pole length close to the length depending on the length of the poles you use to make up the length, it’s not as exact as a telescopic one. You need to order the size range that fits your needs. The wall brackets have a method of adjustment that allows you up to 2cm of adjustment. When screwed together to make the pole length you want, the pole is very strong and doesn’t sag in the middle at all, it’s very sturdy.
This pole and fitments are all very nicely manufactured, the fit and finish is all to a good standard, which is nice to see.
The fitment of these is ideal for the outer edge of a window as the size isn’t as easily adjusted to suit fitment inside a cove for example.
This however is a minor gripe, this pole represents great value for money as it does look a more expensive item than it costs and it functions just as it should.
Ideal for those on a budget that still want their purchases to look good.
I have recently had a problem in my TV room with my blackout blind. The recoil action stopped working and this is the second time this has happened and so I decided to go with a heavy curtain instead as there would not be much that can go wrong with this more primitive method. This curtain pole seemed to fit the bill, being reasonably thick and said to be able to support 18 lb. That would more than meet my requirements.
The pole is well finished but I can’t say I am a great fan of the short sections that screw together. It isn’t the most elegant of looking poles, looking a bit cobbled together, but this method of construction does give you good options as regards length. In my case I am making two poles out of one as I have a roof light in a sloping ceiling that I am covering and so need a pole top and bottom. In my pack I received six pieces each 40 cm long and one at 20 cm long. By cutting the 20 cm piece in half with a tube cutter I was able to make up two rods each of 118.5 cm which was perfect .
I will be making a box for the poles to sit within in order to achieve total blackout so although only three brackets are included the lack of a fourth is no real issue , I will only use two of the supplied three brackets at the top. I will probably use some longer screws than those supplied as I need to pass through 12mm plasterboard plus the thickness of the plaster, an air gap and then into the wood surrounding my window. I think that the inch and a quarter (3cm) supplied screws will be running out of steam by the time they reach the wood.
I do like the brackets as they will give some latitude regarding how close to the wall the pole will be. That will be very handy in my particular set up when I am trying to completely block any light ingress.
Overall I feel that this pole fits in well in my rustic TV room but would hesitate to recommend it for a more modern, upmarket setting. I think that it may look a little on the cheap side and indeed it’s relatively low price of 20.99 bears testament to that. However, if you want a versatile and inexpensive solution to hanging your curtains then this will certainly do the job.
At the time of this review there is a discount available so you can get this pole kit for just over 13
The set consists of a series of black metal sections that screw together
I was concerned that the sections may catch on the curtain but with a bit of silicone spray the curtain slides fairly smoothly.
I had an existing thermal curtain with a two section pole but the curtain stopped at the joint because it was too big a step from one side of the pole to the other and the pole did sag a tiny bit in the middle
This curtain pole has a series of joints that screw together which are a little bit noisier but the heavy curtain hardly catches and the curtain pole does not sag at all because the screw in joints are strong.
I didn’t use the supplied supports as I was able to work with my existing ones.
Overall the poles are very good, if you are thinking about buying this kit I hope the video, pictures and review is helpful ..
