The topper comes quite tightly packed in a vacuum-sealed bag, so you have to be quite careful not to snag it as you cut the packaging open. There is the topper itself, which is two layers of foam, which definitely feel distinctly different, and then there is the cover which is lightly quilted with a fitted sheet type edge, which is very deep, so will fit most mattresses with room to spare. I did take the cover off whilst the topper was expanding as it was keeping the corners a bit crushed, but it was easy enough to replace once the topper was on the bed.
The advertising says the foam is 4in/10cm deep. The picture I’ve attached was after allowing it to expand for a week, which I thought would be more than enough, and it definitely isn’t 4in, and didn’t look like it had any capacity to expand further.
Used it blue side up as it was the additional softness we wanted (I have quite a hard mattress, boyfriend was finding it too hard). Fitted the full size of the double mattress and almost looked a little big, but the edges and corners squashed down to match once the cover was put on.
Felt great when we first laid down on it, but the first night we slept on it we both woke up with quite a lot of pain/stiffness, so I was rather dubious as to whether I’d just wasted a lot of money or not. Happily though, it seemed we just needed that first night to get used to the different feel as we have been fine ever since and it has made the bed much more comfortable – maybe too comfortable sometimes!
