Excellent solutions to connect your dash cam. This set comes with different fuse sizes which is perfect for different cars including some instructions. Once checked my fused box location and what fuse is best to use the whole install took less than 15min to hide the cable and connect my new camera
Unlike (some) other reviewers, I don’t simply copy & paste information from the advert. (I’m sure you really don’t need (or want) to read all the description yet again!) I want to try and give you my own personal views of it (good or bad) so you can decide for yourself whether to buy the item or not. (The fact that I’ve received this product free of charge through Amazon Vine has no influence at all. I always “tell it as it is!”)
If you have a dash cam that you wish to have powered on permanently, then this item is just the job. It will also have the added benefit of meaning you won’t have any extra leads hanging around, that need plugging in to the cigar lighter socket in your car. It is quite straight forward to install in your car, and only took me about half an hour of my time.
So, at the current price of 11.37p (with free delivery) I believe this product, is good value for the money and I can recommend it, as it does exactly what it’s advertised for.
Note:
I have not uploaded any photos as there are loads already on here, and mine would not be adding anything new!
Wired my dash cam in using the jumper fuse, remeber to get this around the right way or you wont be fused.
Fits my dashcam and i can now leave it on all night to catch anyone that may lurking or trying to break in. The low voltage feature also means that the kit will shut off power to teh camera when your car battery reaches a certain minium voltage which should mean there will be enough battery power to start the car.
One think to keep in mind however is to make sure you use the fuse tap is in a fuse position thats always active as most cars shut down the electronics after a certain period when they are locked these days. If you pick a fuse position that does this then the power to the camera will go off when the car goes to sleep.
I got this for my Nextbase dash cam as I left the other hardwired kit I had in my old car when I sold it.
This is a good kit as it has all you need , and has the option of running the camera when parked and has a low voltage sensor and will cut the camera off if it senses the battery getting low .
Haven’t fitted it yet , will be in a couple of weeks time , but you get a good length of wire so it will be no problem in my car , , marked it down a star as I would have liked option of a right angled mini usb connector and the piggyback fuses will be no good for my car as they are the large type , not a deal breaker , but just little niggles .
I would recommend this , mainly for the low voltage protection and the double feed to the unit so it can carry n recording when parked
This is a good basic ‘hardwire’ power supply I’m using in an MX-5 for an excellent old Nextbase 512GW camera for which the original power supply is no longer available.
The camera is happy with it. I tested it on the bench before installing in the car, and when varying my test supply voltage I noticed the low battery warning makes the camera display flicker first before it finally drops out. The thresholds are near enough what is claimed.
The leads are rather thin and fragile, but the lengths are generous. They need to be tidied away neatly clear of sharp edges, ideally ty-wrapped to an existing loom; this also help prevent rattling noises from a loose lead. The instruction sheet is sufficient, with generic illustrations and readable print.
I removed trim from around the foot-well fuse-box, the A-pillar and the heading. Then I ty-wrapped the lead from the camera to lie alongside an existing loom inside the lining of the windscreen heading and passenger side A pillar. Un-clipping the glove-box gave easy access to a suitable void to secure the voltage converter and surplus wiring, conveniently just above the internal fuse-box on the same A pillar. There was a convenient space in the heading lining to secure an extra ferrite.
I piggybacked it onto the Auxiliary socket fuse because this is only live with the ignition. The ACS Mini mini fuse adaptor in the kit fitted my car’s slim fuse-box.
Being an inquisitive electronics engineer I had a look inside the (clipped together) unscreened plastic box and found it is reasonably well made, but has almost no rfi filtering on the input and output. So I added extra ferrites to ensure the car radio kept working. As a general rule, if the radio stops working after installing a hardwire kit, try adding filters to all the new leads close to any end going into a piece of equipment.
My existing hardwire kit was causing the DAB signal to drop out completely, ferrite cores didnt help.
Ordered this one and added a couple of cores. Perfect Dab signal. Brilliant.
Does what is on the box. Comes with lone enough cable and variety of fuse ending types which speeds up the install.
It wouldhave been nice to have some cable holders attached in the pack.
Finally I can forget to unplu my camera and not worry about killing my car battery it works great it was easy to install and has worked 1st time every time since purchase
bought 2 kits for my car (one for front dash cam & one for rear dash cam) as I was tired of trailing wires from the power socket. It took me 40 minutes to connect both up, so very simple, to be honest I don’t know why it took me so long to get round to it. The only thing extra that I had to buy was 2 Clip-on Ferrite Chokes for noise suppression as the kits don’t come with them, and whilst you may not require these, I decided to use them. Once I looked at the fuse box to locate the Aux fuses that switches on and off with the engine, I was good to go. Nice & neat with no issues.
Great easy to fit kit, the 2 meter wire from box to mini usb was enough to fit a Suzuki Grand Vitara, wiring was simple, I expected my car to be the mini blade but in fact was the Low Profile mini blade, lucky it was one of the four piggyback wires included. My only complaint would be the live and earth wires are very very fine but I guess they are adequate for the job…..good kit.
Very easy to install, have 2 installed on our cmax, full choice of fuse types which is handy.
I use one for dashcam and one on tomtom satnav
Brilliant saves all the plugins and makes it neat and tidy.
This was easy to install and looks to be the same quality as the official Nextbase version. Comes with all the required fuses as my Fiesta had a tiny fuse. Hardest part was getting to the grounding screw under the dash. Recommended.
The kit did exactly what it promised allowing me to hardwire my dashcam. The instructions leave a lot to be desired not mentioning the earth terminal at all… needed to watch a couple of YouTube videos to figure out how to properly connect to my car’s fuse box and find a suitable earthing point. Otherwise very happy with the product.
Just what I needed to hard wire the dash cam, I didn’t install it myself but the person who did told me it was clear and straight forward and had no issues with it.
