Pros:
MFP that just works
Decent cartridge life for an inkjet
Printer sits on the network added your home router as a device rather than this new fad of ‘being’ a router
Cons:
Stiff paper tray and paper output tray, these could be broken by someone being a little rough
I have always bought HP printers in the past apart from once. I shall always stick with HP in future as the only non-HP I bought, was impossible to navigate (eg never did find how to re-size items). This new buy was very easy to set up and every stage followed seamlessly on from the last. Once set up, I can navigate all options with ease. Each step is clearly shown in the screen. I cannot fault it.
After 10 years service my HP Photosmart 5520 was showing its age. I wanted the replacement to have separate ink cartridges as these are more economic to replace than the tri-colour; it also had to meet other criteria such as wireless connection and duplex & borderless printing. After comparing several models I opted for the 8022e which ticked all the boxes and the consumables are reasonably priced. The new printer arrived today at 4.15pm & was all set up and ready to go at 4.45pm; the software was easy to install from the HP website & connected straight away to my wi-fi. All in all, trouble free set up & I was able to set up HP+ but opt out of the Instant Ink offer; the print quality is excellent. It is a little larger in size than the 5520, but that’s not an issue for me.
I absolutely love it. Set up was really easy basically it set itself up. All I did was click a few “yes/accept/agree” and set up an HP account password. Has a large feeding tray, so can load up plenty of paper. Prints both sides by itself, no need to manually turn the paper, and quality is good. Best thing for me is that I can print straight from my iphone, documents which are attached to emails. Scanner is also great – not only good quality but also very easy to use through the HP app. It allows you to scan multiple pages in one document then email it. The “strings attached” are – you need to have it connected all time to wi-fi and you need to get an HP ink subscription otherwise the replacement cartridges price is extortionate. I chose a 3/month plan which includes 50pages/month and if not used they get transferred (for up to 4months). Considering this printer does exactly what I needed it to do, I am not so bothered by these 2 minor cons. Would definetly recommend it.
Recycled my olde Canon printer and set about to install my new HP 8022e printer. Seriously I’ve never had such an easy printer install I guess it took around just 10 minutes from opening the box to my first laptop print out.
The company I purchased from followed up my purchase and delivery with a courtesy call. Honestly I can’t fault my purchase.
-If you can have endless supplies of ink cartridges and be bothered to change them once every 2 weeks, then this is for you.
-If you have a busy business that you’re printing more than 5 sheets a day then you’ll see the ink finishing so quickly even if the document you’re printing is 90% text.
Having previously been using a larger more robust printer, namely the HP OfficeJet 8620, I was skeptical as to whether I could find one that was of the same quality, with the same functionality, but easier to maintain.
I look at several printers, including HP and a few other brands, before settling on the HP OfficeJet 8022e.
I found it really easy to setup, through the HP Smart software, although I did find that to ensure I could print directly over WiFi, it was better to not send it through the HP Smart Printer Buffer, as my printer is located upstairs and I print from my laptop downstairs.
I agree that the HP Smart Printer Buffer is useful, but not for what I need the printer to do.
All-in-all, very happy and impressed with my new printer and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a perfect cost effective printing solution.
(Oh, the 6 month free HP Ink Service is a welcome extra.)
have to say setting up the printer took an hour, so much for simple. then there were issues with the HP account stuff, eventually got there.
quite noisy when printing.
the auto feeder works fine for copying, but not for scanner, which is an absolute annoyance for me.
as 2 different people use the same printer, it seems to “lock” onto one person who used it last…. really frustrating when I am the main user. and the other person uses infrequently.. when they do, I have rest myself in the system for it to allow me to print.
I’m usually a iPad, laptop type of guy and if I need anything printed I get it done at work.
Due to a change in career I’ve needed to buy my first ever printer at the age of 38 🙂
I read lots of reviews and decided on this one, so far I don’t regret it.
Came well packaged and easy to unpack. Set up was also easy, installing ink cartridges and setting the printer up took minutes.
Downloaded the app, opened an account and within minutes I was printing off test sheets.
Since I have sent a few things to the printer just because I have one now and the colour and quality is great, quickly prints and looks good. What more can you ask for really.
I also joined the HP+ for monthly ink which was also straightforward and easy to do. I love the extras with the app as well as you can print templates off and pictures for the kids so they can colour in too.
All in all great printer for a great price. Will certainly stick with HP as seem great quality and easy to use.
I’ve never had a HP printer before but have used other HP products and always found them to work really well so I had high hopes for this OfficeJet Pro printer. And I’ve not been disappointed yet. It was extremely easy to set up, considering it’s more high tech than just ‘plug in a USB and go’ type. The only problem I had with setting it up was getting the plastic covers off the ink cartridges, but that’s more to do with my disability than the actual product. It’s a bit bigger than I expected it to be which means it won’t fit in the space where the old printer was.
I’ve used my laptop and my phone to print and scan items, and it’s worked smoothly and perfectly each time. And the double-sided printing feature works so much better than my old printer which meant I had to figure out how to re-insert the paper the right way; this does all that for you! The scanner is quick and the fact I can easily get documents onto my phone will save me so much time when I need to send something quickly.
The print quality for pictures and photos is superb, I won’t have to go elsewhere to print photos now as I can just do it myself.
The touchscreen display makes it easy to access functions too.
I’ve already had my first replacement ink cartridges as part of the subscription service and as I’m just a casual printer (I don’t have a business or work from home), the lowest level of subscription for future cartridges seems like really great value for money. I like that you can choose and adapt your subscription level based on your personal needs.
Unpacked and set up in 15 minutes. Instructions nice and clear, the screen is very clear. Setup the account online to activate the instant ink subscription. Good choice of subscriptions based on how much you are going to print each month, but currently free for first 6 months. Now down to using the printer, print quality very good. Downloaded the full software from hp.com. Easy to set up on pc. Easy to choose/change paper size. The scanning software is excellent. You can scan double-sided, albeit by manually turning the paper once scanned one side (this is the case with most printers). The new thing about this software though is that you can set it to delete blank pages, once scanning finished, very good setting. You can also set it so it saves to the same folder on your pc everytime. Overall, excellent printer. The usual high spec from HP.
