The LEGO City Police Prison Island Toy 60419
This is an exciting playset that offers action-packed adventures. Children can enjoy a creative building experience before diving into a world of imaginative play. The set includes a line-up of fun characters including 3 police and 4 cook minifigures, along with dog and shark figures, allowing kids to create their own thrilling scenarios. There are also lots of interesting features offering exciting escapes, chases and rescues.
This LEGO set provides hours of creative play and is a great gift idea for children.
As a household of LEGO enthusiasts, my kids and I are always eager to dive into a new LEGO theme. The LEGO City Police Prison Island set is yet another success from LEGO, showcasing their trademark high quality and attention to detail.
From the moment we opened the box, everything matched up perfectly to the photos and instructions provided. The building process was smooth, with each piece fitting together seamlessly. As always, LEGO delivers on their promise of an enjoyable and satisfying building experience.
However, while the set is undeniably well-made, the concept of a prison island might not be as thrilling or captivating for some builders. Despite this, my kids and I found ourselves enjoying the building process more than focusing on the end result. The intricate details and clever design elements kept us engaged throughout, making it a rewarding experience overall.
Personally, while the LEGO City Police Prison Island set may not be my first choice of theme, the enjoyment my kids and I derived from building it outweighs any reservations about the theme itself. It’s another testament to LEGO’s commitment to quality and creativity, making it a worthwhile addition to any LEGO collection.
Easy to assemble with well detailed instructions. Great for passing the time. An ideal gift. Item arrived very well packed, so excellent start, perfect size and more important top quality looks and feels great , for the price can’t fault it, 10 out of 10 from me very happy indeed and would purchase agai
Now it has to be said that we are a complete family of Lego nuts in this household and have amassed an enormous collection of the brightly coloured bricks over the years. We always try to leave unbiased reviews and I will be honest and say that, as much as we love our Lego, not all sets are created equally. We have had a few horrendously designed sets in the past which, to be fair, isn’t usually the case, so we were expecting great things from this new 2024 set.
The iconic Lego City series is undoubtedly one of the most well known and successful themes that Lego group have produced and has been running literally for decades now. Over the intervening years, as a family, we have purchased so many different sets in this particular theme that I really cannot count how many the total now runs into. And although many of the components within this newer styled release have changed slightly since the first few sets were released way back when, by and large the sets still use the same style of build to which those previous versions of the City sets have done so beforehand. This for me is simple yet brilliant, as it doesn’t matter wether you purchase a brand new set like this one, or pick up one from 5, 10 or even more years ago, the sets still seamlessly connect together and moreover, look great.
With these newer sets Lego continues to evolve their character line-up as well as building style, and allows fans like us to further expand and bring to life our own creative and sprawling metropolis that is the wondrous City world. As an AFOL (A Fan Of Lego) and an adult collector, the world of customisation these sets also open up for my own builds is almost limitless. All being said and done, the City series has, in it’s many and varied iterations, been around for quite a while now, and is an instantly recognisable and valuable additional to Legos core product line up, gaining both new fans as well as retaining old. This particular review is for the 2024 Lego City Prison Island, set 60419.
I absolutely adore these almost modular style builds that Lego have created and this set is no exception. Lego have given the public a great set here with a huge amount of versatility and playability. This particular set features a design that will see you creating a really good sized island based 3 level detention facility, replete with secret escape tunnel and mine shaft hidden under the prisoners quarters, and a further sewage escape pipe hidden under the outside courtyard that leads down to the rim of the island and an awaiting escape boat! Other areas include a laundry/basement area, a hallway/entrance and a guards lookout tower. Character wise you are also given plenty of choice with this particular set which includes 3 prison officers, 4 prisoners, a guard dog and, as it is an island, a shark to lurk in the waters surrounding the island. You also have a couple of accessories which include a small dinghy, a police boat and a police helicopter to help your prison officers hunt down those dastardly escapees! Visually this set is very appealing and I think the designers have done a great job of capturing that warm, colourful and inviting City style that draws you in to want to immerse yourself in the details whilst nursing that culture of imaginative play. Well designed and good Lego sets can invoke this feeling in spade loads and I happen to think this set here is precisely one of those.
I don’t have to tell you how good the quality of the bricks are as Legos reputation here speaks for itself. What I will point to is quite how clever the design team have been with the build of this one. Attention to detail is, as usual, really rather good from a folding bunk bed in the prisoners quarters that folds away and reveals the hidden access point to the tunnel below, to the escape map that is printed on the reverse of the bed showing the criminals which way to go. I love this type of detail as it just brings everything to life and ties it all together in such a delightful way. Other fun details include a shark warning sign on the dockside and keypad access to the gated doors. Simply brilliant! This set is nothing short of superb.
Playability and rebuild opportunities are aplenty and this is one of those sets that will undoubtedly keep your kids coming back for more. It’s a reasonably large sized set and comes in with no less than 980 pieces! It will take a good couple of hours to build for a dedicated adult and a fair bit longer for a child. There are no real tricky elements to this build so young children will most likely need little to no help to build this set. Certainly there is nothing overly complex such as you may find in a more adult orientated set. The set comes supplied with the usual paper instruction book but you can also follow the build along online, which, to be fair to Lego here, is actually a really well thought out and engaging experience. Each step in the process allows you to see exactly how each part fits together with the previous and is occasionally a lot easier to understand than the printed guide for those younger builders. Parts and pieces are supplied through the usual numbered bags to help you construct the set in order. I like how Lego does this as it means you don’t need to rummage around in a huge box of pieces looking for that illusive small tile, but also because it means that you can build the set in stages and don’t feel compelled to have to finish it on one sitting. This is an added bonus, once again in particular for younger children who may struggle to complete the entire build in one go.
The set is marketed at ages 7 and upwards, although I fully believe younger children can enjoy this set just as much. The age rating is more aimed at the build element to this set. That’s good for us adults though as it means we get to unleash and show off our impressive building skills to a younger audience (and have some fun doing it too!). I always find patiently following the instructions incredibly therapeutic and calming. It just takes me away for a few hours from the chores and grind of daily life. Seeing my children have the same sense of focus and calm, then the subsequent feeling of achievement and excitement as their creation takes shape is something other toys manufacturers can’t always replicate in the same way. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed building this set together with my children and I really can’t find anything to dislike or fault about this set at all. It is genuinely one of the better sets in the City series, at least it is in my personal yet humble opinion. The old adage of ‘you pay for what you get’ rings true yet again. Well done Lego, you have given us another awesome product and keep us coming back for more. Simply amazing!
Love this set, me and my 8 year old built it over a day and she loves it. It’s very inventive with the prisoners and there are lots of ways you can play with it with the escape hatch, helicopter, boats, shark, slide and the rest. It’s very funny to use and can be integrated into any other Lego set world, we have used all our other figures and had the Lego friends being wrongly imprisoned, we’ve had Spider-Man taking the goblin into prison where stormtroopers are the guards and so on, I know you do t seem to get much for the money with Lego but it is excellent quality and you get much more with the generic Lego set than you do with the brand sets.
There is loads to do with this set and it keeps the attention. Another brilliant Lego set.
My son was so excited to build this because it included secret rooms and diff types of characters. Cool little details everywhere like a rec room and in the tower the guard is watching the camera in the rec room. Basketball and hoop. Brick details everywhere and a sliding jail door which its mechanics are so brilliant! The slide is fun and the roll away cart is an awesome touch with the tree blocking the way of the escape. The additional boats, helicopter and good selection of minifigures, including a dog means my son has already dreamt up a heap of action packed stories and the set has slotted in nicely with his existing models.
For kids and collectors alike this is a fantastic set
Large vehicles, decent sized building and characters, certainly a playable set not just a build and admire.
Easy enough to assemble but the youngsters may not focus long enough for the build, so why not let eh adult help (we are all big kids)
Great on its own or add to part of your bigger city collection.
This set is composed of several pieces which you can build separately, but they also slot together with ease. The instructions are easy to follow and the set looks great once finished. It takes a few hours to build but the result is worth it.
A rather extravagant lego set.
Long gone are the days of basic brick buildings, this takes your lego skills to a new level.
It’s suitable for 7 years plus, with good usual Lego instructions if you want to use them. Once the main island is built it is very sturdy and a good size. It comes with a helicopter, a boat, dinghy and seven figures plus accessories.
The Prison Island is on three levels and features a helicopter landing pad, an escape tunnel to allow prisoners to escape to the dinghy.
This set offers good value compared to other similar sets, high recommended.
Wow! What a set! Ok, so it’s on the pricy side, but what Lego isn’t these days. This is a set that has double the pleasure. First to build it and then to play with it! The set comes in separate bags and has instructions to help you build it. It did take quite a while to build and younger people might need a bit of help. Once built, the set is so much fun to play with and the characters and extras are excellent and well thought out. Having the little shark is genius! With lots of playing pieces, this will provide hours of entertainment.
Lovely Lego set. Quite large, with a few vehicles and quite a lot of mini figures. More than enough for a complete play set on its own, although we’ve added it to an existing police station set.
The Build isn’t too complicated, younger children might need a bit of help, and the scale of the builds might be a bit too much to keep their focus. The set itself is quite a sturdy one, clearly designed for play rather than display. While it’s always possible to smash the models once built (as my kids love to demonstrate), they stand up to normal play well.
A really nice set.
Lego always delivers when it comes to quality, durability and a fantastic finished product but what really impresses me about this set is the way that it has proved to be a real key to unlock creative play. With several characters (and a shark!) to play with and a setting that includes the ability to stage a prison break with all the excitement that comes with that, this is a set that will genuinely provide hours and hours of play long after building it. Worth every penny.
This is another success from Lego. It is of their usual high quality. It all matches up to the photos and instructions. The only slight drawback is that a prison Island probably isn’t the most exciting thing to build.
Son loves it and recreates different prison breaks on a daily basis with it. He especially liked building the cliff elements of the build and how it is very forgiving when being played with unlike some sets which seem to collapse by simply looking at them the wrong way etc.
A fantastic prison set with great mini-figures and vehicles.
Part of the Lego City range, the Police Prison Island (60419) is great fun for kids & grown-ups alike to indulge in. Although not the most challenging build, it is a long one due to all the features, and the size of the prison island. Thankfully, there are multiple instruction booklets to help you build the prison and the vehicles in stages.
The island itself has a fantastic look with a brilliant design. Everything from the prison cell to the prison yard, helipad, surveillance tower, utility room, underground mine has been perfectly realised here, and there’s much enjoyment to be had with the various escape routes and vehicles. There are seven mini-figures (three police officers & four prisoners) and one dog in total; all wonderfully colourful and different.
The Police Prison Island is a highlight of the Lego City range, and I would say essential for any Lego collection as well. Bags of fun and great value entertainment.
This would make an excellent gift, highly recommended.
It takes a pretty long time when doing it one by one and follow simple instructions.
Most of the parts were pretty easy to put together. Instruction is clear and following it was a pleasure.
I got some bad experience with different kind of toys where instruction is not as simple like here.
So for myself, instruction is the first thing that I’m looking for.
It is really fun to play with it especially when the full family enjoys playing it together.
They are not cheap for a reason. It guarantees great satisfaction when putting all pieces together.
Same with playing or rebuilding something else by using our imagination.
I was very lucky to receive this on the Vine program. I’ll confess to hiding this away from the rest of the house until I had the place to myself. This is a large set, coming in at 980 pieces and recommended for above age 7.
This set is a Police prison island set. There is loads going on in the set and is really interesting looking at the small things Lego have added in this set. One side has a cell with a secret trapdoor where the prisoners can enter a mine cart to escape. The bed has a map on the underside – nice touch.
The other prison cell has a trapdoor to a cool chute where an escape can be made by an included dingy. Just don’t swim as there are sharks (one included).
Also included is a helicopter and 7 minifigures -> yes 7 and a Police dog!
I really wish I’d had this set as a kid. It would’ve kept me entertained for ages. Suppose I’d better come clean when the family come home!
This Lego City Police Prison Island set comes in a big box containing 980 pieces with 7 moveable Lego figures with lots of imaginative play with this big kit. It’s designed for children 7 years and older so ideal for my 8 year old grandson, though he will need a little help, the built set has lots of fun designs like a police cell with an escape tunnel plus there’s police boat, helicopter and dinghy plus a police dog and a shark. A lovely quality Lego set that would make a fantastic gift for any child 7 years plus.
This 980 piece police prison themed set is a deviation from most, it’s island based theme and vehicle selection is water based, with boat, dinghy and helicopter being included instead of more common land based cars or vans.
The set is relatively large with plenty of innovative features for prolonged play, the included escape tunnel and minecart being of particular note, in addition to the included vehicle selection which includes a helicopter, boat and dinghy.
Some features are designed to be utilised in conjunction with the included vehicles, some obvious such as the helicopter landing pad, others less obvious such as the escape tunnel, which can be utilised to enable the included minifigures to board the waiting dinghy.
The set contains a total of seven minifigures, three of which are police along with four prisoners, there is also a dog included, the set is in effect a three tiered build and provides excellent value for money.
Compared to similar valued sets this one offers plenty of replayability, is a joy to construct and offers plenty of vehicles, minifigures and gameplay features, definitely recommended.
Me and my nephew spent some weekends building this together and it did take quite a while, but this is what I love about Lego, you get the fun building part and the play part when it’s built so you get two for the price of one in my opinion! I adore this set, it’s so fun to make and super interactive, easy guide to follow to build too.
I think although it seems expensive you are getting a lot for your money with this set, it’s huge and has lots of different things going on in the front and back of the build and lots of accessories so little ones can really imagine and make so many storylines.
Definitely one of the best Lego sets of recent.
The box was a little damaged on arrival as seen in photos but not badly enough that I would be worried about gifting.
