Now it has to be said that we are a complete family of Lego nuts in this household and have amassed an enormous collection of the brightly coloured bricks over the years. We always try to leave unbiased reviews and I will be honest and say that, as much as we love our Lego, not all sets are created equally. We have had a few horrendously designed sets in the past which, to be fair, isn’t usually the case, so we were expecting great things from this new 2024 set. With these new sets, Lego continues to evolve their ever expanding Disney stable character line-up as well as growing a loyal fan base of both old and new followers. As an AFOL (A Fan Of Lego) and an adult collector, the world of customisation these sets also open up for my own builds is almost limitless. All being said and done though, this set is designed to used as a display piece and to that end it resolutely excels. This particular review is for the 2024 Lego Disney Stitch, set 43249.
I absolutely adore these unique and one off display builds that Lego create and this new set is no exception. Lego have given the public a great display set here with a huge amount of colour, vibrancy and warmth to the design that really draws the eye to wherever you have chosen to display your final build. As it is meant as a display set and not really one to be played with, it is rather limited in its overall versatility and playability. To be fair, that’s to be expected, however, for those wishing to showcase their Lego Stitch character in a multitude of different poses, you may be left feeling more than a little disappointed with very limited range of articulation, motion and movement that this set has. For instance, you can’t stand Stitch up or alter his leg positioning, so he is only possible in his sitting position. The head has been constructed in such a way that you can turn him to face left and right but neither up nor down. His ears can be rotated to point either up or down and his ice-cream and flower can be removed. Other than those few elements though, the remainder of the model is a fixed build. I fee Lego have missed a trick here and could have provided that extra articulation within his arms and legs. That being said however, I really do not feel that these factors hugely detract from the overall design of this set, as it really is rather impressive when complete. Visually Stitch is incredibly appealing and I think the designers have done a great job of capturing that warm, colourful and playful, yet cheeky style that Disney’s Stitch is known for. He is a loveable rogue and Lego’s model conveys this well. Likewise the designers have focused a good amount of attention to the little details that make this set a great choice for your display collection. Wether that is Stitches overly large and expressive eye pieces and his rather toothy grin, to his claws gripping firmly to his ice-cream, and even some of the smaller elements such as the multitude of floral stickers that cover this Hawaiian style shirt. There is certainly plenty to look at and enjoy. In fact, every time I look at Stitch, I can’t help but draw a small smile. Better designed and great Lego sets can invoke this feeling in spade loads and I happen to think this set here is precisely one of those.
I don’t have to tell you how good the quality of the bricks are as Legos reputation here speaks for itself. It’s a reasonable sized set and comes in with no less than 730 pieces! It will take a good 30 – 40 minutes or so to build for a dedicated adult and a fair bit longer for a child. There are no real tricky elements to this build so young children will most likely need little to no help to build this set. Certainly there is nothing overly complex such as you may find in a more adult orientated set. The set comes supplied with the usual paper instruction book but you can also follow the build along online, which, to be fair to Lego here, is actually a really well thought out and engaging experience. Each step in the process allows you to see exactly how each part fits together with the previous and is occasionally a lot easier to understand than the printed guide, especially for those younger builders. Parts and pieces are supplied through the usual numbered bags to help you construct the set in order. I like how Lego does this as it means you don’t need to rummage around in a huge box of pieces looking for that illusive small tile, but also because it means that you can build the set in stages and don’t feel compelled to have to finish it on one sitting. This is an added bonus, once again in particular for younger children who may struggle to complete the entire build in one go.
The set is marketed at ages 9 and upwards, although I fully believe younger children can enjoy this set just as much. The age rating is more aimed at the build element to this set. That’s good for us adults though as it means we get to unleash and show off our impressive building skills to a younger audience (and have some fun doing it too!). I always find patiently following the instructions incredibly therapeutic and calming. It just takes me away for a few hours from the chores and grind of daily life. Seeing my children have the same sense of focus and calm, then the subsequent feeling of achievement and excitement as their creation takes shape is something other toys manufacturers can’t always replicate in the same way. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed building this set together with my children and I really can’t find anything to dislike or fault about this set at all. If I were to have one criticism it would be the number of floral stickers that need to be applied to create Stitch’s shirt effect. Come on Lego, these should really have been printed elements. Other than that though, I feel this is genuinely one of the better sets in the Disney series, at least it is in my personal yet humble opinion. The old adage of ‘you pay for what you get’ rings true yet again. Well done Lego, you have given us another awesome product and keep us coming back for more. Simply amazing!
This LEGO set is pure magic for Disney fans! Building Stitch is a blast, and he comes with fun accessories like his ice cream cone. It’s a great size to play with or display, and the vibrant colors and details are spot-on. My kids love recreating scenes from the movie or making up their own adventures with Stitch. A must-have for any Disney-loving kid (or kid at heart!)
This Lego set is absolutely adorable! The LEGO Disney Stitch kit is a must-have for any Stitch fan or LEGO enthusiast. The level of detail in this set is incredible, capturing Stitch’s playful personality perfectly. The inclusion of the ice-cream cone adds a fun touch to the scene. It’s a fantastic gift idea for kids aged 9 and above, providing hours of entertainment and imaginative play. The quality of the pieces is top-notch, ensuring durability for long-term enjoyment. Overall, it’s a delightful addition to any LEGO collection and a surefire hit for birthdays or special occasions. Highly recommend!
Another great set by Lego, the instructions are clear and quality is excellent. However as this is aimed at 10 year olds and up I found they would struggle. With 730 pieces and some areas a little more difficult build , adult help will be required. Stitch now lives on my book case with the rest of the Lego builds I have done in the past. I Would recommend.
Brilliant Lego stitch set. Was a surprise for the whole family and they all were very happy. We got stuck in straight away. Absolutely loved this time together. Was a little tricky at points but was fun. Excellent quality Lego set.
Stitch appears to be everywhere now, so a ‘LEGO Stitch’ seems inevitable. This is not just your typical LEGO set with a scene and some LEGO character versions of Stitch this is a 9+ kit and makes a large Stitch with some movable ears.
This is not the easiest build, even with the instructions you will need to pay attention. It would best suit an older Disney fan, or a child who has built other sets in the past. The fact that it stands tall, has rounded elements and is a character makes it a distinct experience. Once built it is an impressive thing, not really for playing with, but admiring. You can move some pieces if you want.
The price is premium, but it is worth it. You get an amazing build at the end all with the quality and love that you expect from the brand. If you know someone who is both a Stitch fan and a LEGO fan, this would be an ultimate gift – even to yourself.
My niece loves Lego so she enjoyed this set but it still took time and there are parts that can be complicated but it was a great challenge for her. Stitch looks amazing once built and is now proudly sitting on her bookshelf. Another fantastic set by Lego.
As Dr Johnson once put it: ‘Anyone who is tired of Lego, is tired of life’ – and you can see exactly where he was coming from.
This is a gorgeous model of Disney character Stitch that our nine-year-old grandson has spent some time assembling and playing with. Of course, he had help with both those separate functions from his more-than-willing grandfather!
Everything has been thought through and developed so expertly. No wonder some Lego sets are now seen as being as collectible as Rolex watches.
It features moveable ears and a hand that can grip the ice cream that comes as part of the set, and it looks great as a figurine once it’s assembled.
These modern Lego sets truly are works of art.
The set is not very easy to build, since it consists of 730 pieces. It therefore requires the help of an adult, although the instructions are fairly clear and well illustrated step by step.
The set depicts the famous Stitch with a rather smiling face. Along with the character, there is also an ice cream, which can be put in Stitch’s hand and a flower that can be placed on Stitch’s head.
In addition, Stitch can rotate his ears to assume funny and always different poses. Even the head can move at will, allowing the child to customize the character to their liking.
In addition to being a game, it is still a very nice accessory to keep on a shelf to decorate the child’s room, as it is well made and rather colorful.
My nephew’s daughter loves Lego and loves Disney so this is an ideal toy for her.
It’s quite a complicated model to build with about 730 parts and is listed as being for ages 9 plus. She’s 8 years old so she needed a little help from her dad but once built the model looks impressive and can be moved into different poses.
The parts and instructions are the usual high quality I expect from Lego
This is a buildable Stitch of lovely size made up of 730 pieces, definitely not suitable for younger children due to the amount of very small parts.
It isn’t very easy to build unless your child is very practical. It will take sometimes but totally worthy when it is complete and looks amazing.
It comes in a medium sized box, perfectly packaged and the colours of the Lego’s are super cute! It is suitable for girls and boys and would make an amazing gift, without any doubt.
