This is the perfect set to get into the Lego speed champions and it’s mostly easy to build but a couple of harder bits to make it a great se
Superbly detailed medium sized replica of the McLaren 2023 car. Very straightforward to put together and perfect for 9 year old (and above) to construct independently – it’ll be a challenging build, but definitely achievable. Although some of the stickers and parts are a little fiddly, there was very little frustration when building this and for about 20, I think this represents excellent value for the quality of the finished model.
This is a nice little set. It is easy to build and has a good level of detail. It’s the standard you would expect of Lego. I think the age rating of 9+ is about right.
This is a LEGO Speed Champions 2023 McLaren Formula 1 build.
The car parts come in 3 separate bags within the box and for some reason the main chassis part was loose with no bag inside the box on its own which immediately made me think was this forgotten and added after?
Additionally with the 3 bags are the comprehensive instructions and also a decal sheet with loads of decals as this is an F1 car covered in sponsors.
In total there are 245 pieces although I did not count them and additionally when I was finished there was a handful of duplicate pieces left presumably as spares.
The build took me a good hour of fun as I really don’t like rushing the Lego builds as they are simply so much fun.
Every step in the manual is clear and precise and I had no issues or ambiguities with it and it worked out perfectly.
All the decals and there are quite a few of them were perfectly cut out on the sheet for removal and the only other issue was my shaking hand when trying to apply them so they were exactly straight, but luckily you can remove them if you make a mistake.
The finished car looks absolutely out of this world with the little driver now in his seat and Lego really need a pat on the back at their design of these cars as I have a few other Speed Champions and none of them disappoint.
Overall, for 20 the Speed Champions line is absolutely value for money for a first class Lego product and I cant wait to build my next one!
