Bought as a birthday gift for 4 year old and it was a hit. Glad I purchased the mains version to save on batteries as imagine the battery version would get through a fair few. Also popular with 6 year old sibling.
A massive Christmas Day success with my 3 year old grandson who soon got the knack of speeding around the track. Also impressed with the staying power if the batteries with lasted beyond Boxing Day with intense usage.
Unfortunately one car doesn’t work at all. We have contacted Scalextric customer services to see if they can send out a replacement, otherwise will have to return the whole set and re-purchase. The car that does work is brilliant, adjustable speed on the controller means the child doesn’t get frustrated with having to replace the car on the track the whole time and can simply enjoy racing round the track
My three year old twins loved this. It is really easy for them to use and the cars do not come off the track. I suggest you buy some rechargeable batteries. I have to help them put the track together and I can see that if I let them put the track together the tracks will not last BUT once it is all set up it is really easy for them to use the controllers.
Purchased for my 3-year-old son for Christmas. Both me and my son were excited to get this set up and and try it on Christmas day. It’s pretty easy to set up and can be arranged in three different configurations, we went for the figure of 8 style track. We had a little difficulty at first getting the connections on the cars to align properly with the track so that they would actually run however quickly figured this out, it’s really just a case of making sure the threads under the car are together and flat against the bottom of the car. The controllers can be sad different speeds, and we found that even at the fastest speed the cars would stay on the track which was fantastic and made for some very fast, exciting racing! Have read other reviews stating that this set is perhaps not up to the standard or quality of more grown-up Scalextric sets, however, I think this is a great starter set for younger kids and would recommend.
Purchased as a Christmas present for my 3.5 yr old son, he loves it and great that there are speed controls on each remote to change the speed of the cars making it really easy to use. To be honest it’s great fun for all ages, over Christmas the adults enjoyed playing with it just as much as the kids. Easy to assemble, I’ve left ours up in the playroom as some reviews say not so good when disassembled and put back together again and I can imagine that to be true so have left it as it is now it’s put together. Wont hesitate to purchase another for my nephews 4th birthday.
Lovely little starter set for my grandchildren, unfortunately one car stopped working after one day, fortunately Amazon was great in replacing before Christmas. Some of the track pieces were harder to push together, but with a bit of care it assembled ok. This set would have been better with wireless controllers as there is a tendency for little hands to forget track attached. Set takes 5 AA batteries.
We got this for xmas for our 4yo & 2yo and it was a big hit. Easy to put together but be careful as there are prongs that are easily bent if forced when joining the track pieces, a bit of patience will serve you well when setting up (not easy with excited kids on your case!). Don’t forget the 6 AA batteries required for it to work and you’ll need a small philips head screwdriver to open the battery compartment. With controllers at 100% the cars will whizz round surprisingly fast yet fly off the track only occasionally, we dialed ours down to 50% which didn’t dull the excitement. They do a loop the loop for Micro Scalextric which will be the next purchase!
Update November 2021, still going strong, has been disassembled and reassembled many times and it still generates a lot of excitement for a few hours when out.
