I wanted a quick and easy solution for some basic macro shots on my Fujifilm mirrorless, so I decided to try this snap-on option from brand NEEWER since I have trusted them many other times for photo products.
Comes in a nice carrying case, and the body of the adapter is all-plastic which is not entirely reassuring but it seems to be very durable and works well enough once you get it attached. It was very difficult to figure out though at first, and the instructions are next to useless. They really should be more detailed.
Anyway, this provides a reasonable amount of magnification if you are looking for a simple fix for macro photos or video without breaking the bank. But it is by NO means a replacement for a quality macro lens that costs thousands more. But not everyone has thousands more, so with a little creativity, this can do in a pinch. 4 stars.
I mounted the adapter onto my Nikkor 70-300mm, used it at 70mm, and it worked well. It was a bit finicky at the beginning – it is not easy to find the sweet spot when it comes to distance, but once you do, it works well.
I found that it overexposes the subjects every once in a while – not sure what it is related to, but my two fruits under pretty much the same light constantly turned out different – the darker fruit seemed to be normally exposed, and the ligher fruit overexposed. Likely related to the way the sun was hitting the area in which they were. See photos.
It’s a bit bulky because of the side arms, but overall decent product.
I’ve always been curious about macro photography, so I grabbed this little lens attachment to test it out. It snaps onto my camera easily and lets me capture tiny details up close, like the texture on leaves or small insects in the garden. It’s lightweight and simple to use, so it’s been a fun addition to my gear.
The depth of field is quite narrow, which makes it a bit challenging to focus at times, especially with a handheld camera. Using a tripod helps a lot. The plastic mount isn’t as sturdy as I’d like, but for the price, it’s a great way to experiment with close-up shots without committing to a more expensive lens.
I recently purchased the NEEWER 43mm HD Macro Lens, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. This lens is a fantastic addition to my camera gear, providing sharp, detailed close-up shots that are essential for macro photography. The 43mm diameter is perfect for capturing fine details, and the lens delivers impressive image clarity with minimal distortion. The dual quick-lock buttons on the mount adapter ensure a secure fit, giving me confidence that the lens will stay in place during use.
The lens comes with a versatile 55-72mm snap-on lens mount adapter, which makes it compatible with a wide range of telephoto lenses from Canon, Nikon, and Sony cameras. This adaptability is a significant advantage, as it allows me to use the macro lens with different camera setups without any hassle. The 49mm front thread is also a useful feature for adding filters or other accessories, further enhancing the versatility of this lens.
Overall, the NEEWER 43mm HD Macro Lens is a high-quality product that delivers excellent performance for macro photography. Its detailed imaging, secure mounting system, and compatibility with various camera brands make it a valuable tool for both amateur and professional photographers. If you’re looking to elevate your macro photography and capture stunning close-up images, this lens is a great choice. Highly recommended for those who are passionate about detailed and precise photography!
This 37-52mm Macro Snap-on Lens (Model No. LS-40) arrives in a nice looking, Neewer branded, cardboard box, that would be more than suitable should you be wishing to give it as a gift. Inside is the lens (with front and back lens caps), lens mount, and cleaning cloth, all stored inside a semi-rigid case. As well an an instruction manual.
The macro lens itself is well made and has a good finish throughout. At a fraction under 70g it also doesn’t add that much weight to the front of your lens. It has a plastic pinch to attach style lens cap for the front of the lens. This cap is fine, but would quite often fit so that the edges were offset from the lens. Whilst only a small niggle, as it is still perfectly secure and provides the same level of protection, it might annoy some. The lens cap on the rear of the lens is the softer plastic, pull off kind.
The macro lens mount is made of a robust feeling plastic. You attach the lens by screwing the rear of it into the mount. A pinch mechanism on the mount is then used to attach it to camera lenses with a diameter of 37 to 52mm. The spring mechanism is strong and I had no issues attaching it to a variety of lenses. If you do not have a lens that is the correct diameter for the mount, you can always use step up/step down rings to adapt your lens to this mount.
The semi rigid case is good, and holds everything securely. When closed it measures 12.7cm wide by 9.5cm deep and is 6.7cm deep. Given the size of the lens, the case is a little too bulky and could perhaps be one or two centimetres thinner, but it does the job.
In use the lens worked well. Physically it was easy to set up and attach/detach from the lens on my camera. Image quality was pretty good and I got some nice results. However it needs to be understood that in order to get good results with a macro lens like this one there will be challenges to overcome.
These challenges are caused mainly by the fact that you will be working at very close shooting distances, with a very narrow depth of field (the zone within your photo that appears in focus). As a result on some cameras, your auto-focus may not work, and even if it does, you may get better result by manually locking your cameras focus in place and gently moving the camera closer/further from your subject. You will also need to find a way to light your subject properly as your camera/lens is likely to block any existing light sources, and also prevent your onboard flash or external flash mounted on top of your camera from hitting the subject.
In conclusion, this is a well made macro lens that can give you good results if you take your time and learn how to use it. There are a couple niggles with the lens cap and case, as described above, but they are minor.

As you would expect with Neewer, the optical quality of this macro lens is great.
Super close up macro shots with your standard zoom or telephoto lens are a breeze – though a tripod is recommended because at thes edistances camera shake is going to be very noticeable.
My only negative is that the kit comes in two sizes. The snap-on mount has spring loaded clips for attahing to your main lens, with the macro lens screwing into the snap-on mount. However half of my lenses are too big for this adapter.
I realise that these would require a larger piece of glass as well to avoid vignetting, but these are not cheap so buying both to cover both lenses is too much for what is only going to get occassional use.
Very good as described, and great of you only have one size of lens… expensive if you need too of them to fit different lens sizes.
I was a bit dubious at first but results speak for themselves. I mounted it on my Tokina ATX pro 100mm macro 2.8 Lens and it brings your lens a bit more closer as you can get as close to subject as 5cm to 15cm. I experienced no deterioration in quality and resolution. Colours are accurate and no vignetting at all on over 40mm Lenses used to test this Neewer Macro HD Macro Lens.
Neewer Lens has 43mm diameter and it is screwed on to the Snap On Lens Mount Adapter that is supplied in the package. Snap On Mount Adapter can be fitted on any Lens that is between 37mm to 52mm in size. It will work with Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, Fuji as long as the Lens has 37mm -52mm opening.
As with any Macro photography Lens that takes 1.1 or closer shots the depth of field is Razer sharp and I normally use my Macro lens in Manual Focus anyways so it was not an issue to set focus to 1.1 ratio prior to using Neewer Macro glass and just use motion by moving Lens in and out to get focus even at F22 aperture the depth of field was tiny. It is also worth mentioning that you must use a sturdy tripod to be stable.
Overall a very good value for money if you are into Macro photography. Any zoom lens or prime can be turned into a Macro lens. It is lightweight and comes in a zipped bag to keep it clean and scratch proof. I manage to get great photos with this versatile piece of glass and all the images were bright and colourful. Check few samples I have uploaded.
I have a Nikon D5000 DSLR which is really good but being able to take pictures in close up has been difficult. So I was very happy when this macro lens was offered. It is very easy to connect it to my DSLR camera and I could see a massive difference in the quality of the photos taken. I have started to enjoy the macro photography due to brilliant results which this lens gets you.
The lens came very well packed to avoid any damage during transit. There is a sturdy zip case included which makes carrying the lens easy.
I also loved the fact that I can connect it even with UV, CPL and other filters.
Overall it a very good lens and provides fabulous results.
Hope you find this review helpful.
I’ve really enjoyed using this new addition to my photography tools. It attaches easily to my Nikon camera, instantly transforming a lens into another. I recently took the kids to the park to capture close-up shots of insects and flowers. Some of the images came out blurry at the edges, but I found it gave them a charming touch. When I tried it on my 50mm lens, the results were much sharper with some vignetting. The construction quality is quite good, although I did have to adjust it a bit to get the focus right. My daughter, who is interested in photography, also found it user-friendly. While it doesn’t replace a dedicated lens, it’s perfect for those creative spurts.
This lens comes in a protective carry case that keeps all the parts together. The lens itself is very well constructed and has a solid feel. It attaches via the supplied adaptor to lens / filter threads between 37mm and 52mm so is very versatile for all your kit.
I have actually adapted this more specifically for my needs. Most of my lenses have a 46mm thread so I simply bought a 46mm to 43mm adaptor and this now sits on the macro lens ready to fit cleanly to the lens in use. It allows a lot cleaner fit than using the supplied adaptor.
RESULTS: The results are very good. You need to move the camera physically backwards or forwards to gain focus and the depth of field is very shallow. The results are sharp and clear when using a decent prime lens. There is a bit of hit and miss on moving subjects such as insects but that’s to be expected and with skill (and some luck) you can get good results.
This now sits in my camera bag as a standard accessory.
Highly Recommended
This NEEWER 43mm HD Macro Lens with 37-52mm Snap on Lens Mount Adapter is a fun affordable way to transform a lens into a close focus macro lens. I used it with a 40mm Micro 4/3rds lens — as it was the smallest lens filter thread I have. There are two sizes of this product; most people will likely want the 55-72mm version.
The kit comes with a spring-loaded mount that attaches to your lens and a 49mm macro lens that screws into it. Both parts ship in a protective case with a microfibre cloth. On the third use of the case the zipper snapped; grabbed a photo the metal on the zipper is very thin.
The snap on adaptor has a good grip on my lens you can move the camera about and it wont fall off unless knocked; though I would detach it if you are walking around with it.
The macro lens is very good; I attached a photo of a Lego minifigure using the lens at its minimum focussing distance and again using the lens. With the macro lens it was easy to get the shark to fill the frame. The prime lens I used is very sharp; and pixel peeping the images using the macro lens; they aren’t as sharp. You can easily see the mould marks on the mini figure when you zoom in through and zoomed out it looks very good.
My camera could autofocus whilst using the macro lens.
If you are interested in macro photography and it will fit your lenses filter thread this is an affordable way to do it. The case could do with an upgrade.
I like macro photography but I find that there are issues.
A well made macro lens can costs the earth, well 100 for the prime to several hundreds for a brand telephoto with macro facilities.
Expensive and maybe not used enough.
This Snap-on Macro lens by Neewer is a cheap option without economising on performance.
It works with lens with filter threads of between 37-52mm. So its seems to be for the smaller camera.
I used it on a Leica 50mm F12 lens attached to a Leica SL2-s with a lens adapter.
The snap on is connected to the inner area of the lens thread and releasing the spring to either side of the add-on. Took me a while to work that out as I assumed it went on the outside and the instructions are not clear about this.
Once on with the macro lens attached, its a breeze to use.
Images are sharp, found no vignetting and no obvious signs of degradation of the image.
I did my shot of the water bottle hand held, though best results would be with a tripod.
The closest I could get with the lens is 0.7 metres – with the attached lens I am much closer. See the attached image.
Would I recommend it as a cheaper alternative to a macro lens. Yes.
I am in love with this Macro Lens; it is absolutely stellar! I’ve had my Nikon camera for a while now, and while I initially picked it up as a new hobby, it wasn’t long before it was languishing in my cupboard, gathering dust. But yesterday, this Macro lens arrived for me to review, and it has changed everything.
First of all, the lens comes in a well-made protective case for ease of mobility, which was an unexpected bonus. Inside the bag, you get the lense (including lens cap) and the mount. It’s all very easy to use, you simply screw the lens into the mount and then attach the lens and your ready to enter the fascinating world of the macro! I am hooked – it has reignited my interest in photography. I will now be stalking the countryside in pursuit of beautiful creatures to capture. I cannot recommend this lens highly enough! Its easy to use and it takes fantastic photos! Amazing!
This snap-on Macro adapter is an interesting product, that allows you to convert an existing lens into a macro lens.
This lens adapter has a plastic build that feels cheap but the benefit is you don’t have to worry about scratching your expensive lens. It mounts easily as long as your lens is not the fisheye type that protrudes.
The macro feature definitely works, increasing the magnification level. The limitation is around the edges, as there’s some distortion around the edges. It’s also a bit difficult to produce really sharp photos with this. Not sure if this is a user error but many macro photos I get from this turn out a bit soft.
Overall this is a great option if you just need macro once in a while.
Simple adapter that definitely makes a difference in minimum focal distance allowing for really interesting macro shot using non macro lenses. I think it’s important to make the distinction that this is a fun addition to the toolkit but not a complete replacement for macro lens. For most people this will allow you to take shots that you might have struggled to without a macro lens and is enough to make this a useful tool.
As others have mentioned, some vignetting is unavoidable with this lens despite the description saying otherwise but once you get the hang of it, it can simply become part of the aesthetic of the photo. Overall worth trying for anyone wanting to do more macro photography without the massive investment into lenses.
This is a very clever little add-on lens. You can attach it in 2 ways – if you have a 43mm threaded lens it can be screwed on directly, but more likely you will be using the snap-on mount which fits onto a 55-72mm threaded lens with a little spring clip (a lot like how you attach most lens caps).
The packaging on this is on point – it comes in a little hard shell case with a custom cut-out for the lens itself and the glass is quite substantial in your hand. This is not just some cheap plastic lens and it shows in the materials!
Usage wise it’s super easy to use – just screw the lens into the snap-on mount and then clip it onto your existing lens to use. Boom! Instant macro. The lens focuses super close and worked best on my mid-long range telephoto lenses. For shorter than 50mm I did notice some more vignetting and for lenses at the top range of the mount (72mm) the mount itself doesn’t fully cover the existing glass so just be aware of that.
Of the available lenses I had to try this with found it worked best with a 40-150mm on my G9. I did also love that it worked perfectly with the existing camera’s Autofocus which has often been a hit-or-miss thing for me with other “add-on” lenses such as extension tubes or telephoto extenders.
Is this as good as a dedicated Macro lens? Absolutely not, but dedicated macros are incredibly expensive and I just don’t take this kind of shot near enough to justify having one in my collection. The shots I got using this were good enough, and doubly so with the help of Photoshop these days.
This hits a really good middle of the road for me and I think will be well suited for a lot of hobby photographers as well – it’s a nice way to take occasional, or begin experimenting with, macro shots without a big investment and it’s both lightweight and fast to switch on and off an existing lens. I really liked it when out walking about since I could pop it on for a quick shot and then back off again.

Recomendado
This macro adapter couldn’t be simpler to attach. It clips on just like a lens cap. The specifications say that it will adapt to a lens with a filter size between 55 ad 72mm, but I also tried it on my Nikon P950 that has a 73mm thread and it worked just fine there too. It comes with a nice semi-rigid zippered case to protect the adapter. The case is a bit bulky if you’re going to throw it into your camera bag, but is a very nice case otherwise.
I tried the adapter out with several different lenses. The aforementioned P950 is an ultra-zoom with a 4.3 to 357mm range. I used it at maximum zoom to take photos of a bar code and of Andrew Jackson from a $20 bill. Those were done handheld, so any shakiness is my fault. I then switched to my Canon EOS 70D. Using its 18-55mm zoom lens, I took a photo of the 8.2 – 10.5 cm range of a plastic ruler. Switching to the longer 55-250mm zoom lens, I photographed the 8 – 9 cm range of a different plastic ruler. I was very pleased with the results of all of the tests.
I didn’t know something like this existed before I saw this one from Neewer. And I’m impressed!
It’s surprisingly easy to use–and just as surprisingly versatile. You just attach Neewer’s small macro lens to their flexible lens mount adaptor and attach it to any number of your lenses.
You’ll get different performance from different lenses (some focal ranges result in dark circles on the outside of your image), but just being able to have a reasonably priced macro option you can use with so many prime or zoom lenses could really come in handy.
I’m a big fan of Neewer products, and this macro snap on lens is no exception. The product comes in a compact case with the snap on adapter, the lens, covers for the lens, and micro fiber lens cloth. The snap on adapter is made from a strong plastic, while the lens is made from a heavier machined metal. The lens screws into the adapter nicely, without any resistance.
I was able to try the adapter on a variety of different lenses. I’m a real estate photographer, so I thought I’d give it a whirl on my 10-20mm 72mm lens. The macro effect wasn’t that pronounced and I was getting vignetting on the edges of the frame. (see photos) The vignette became more pronounced the wider I zoomed out. I then tried it on a 18-55 mm lens and the vignette was no where to be seen. The macro effect was more pronounced as well. The best lens I used was my 70mm-300mm. There was no vignette whatsoever, the magnification was very pronounced, and the image was nice and sharp with some work which I’ll explain in a bit. The 70-300mm lens worked best around 200mm (which is what the instructions stated).
I have used extension rings in the past for macro photography. The problem with those is the autofocus is completely disabled. With this macro lens, you’ll have to tweak the AF settings on your particular camera, but it can help you get in the range. You’ll then be able to dial in the focus manually. If you are not using a stabilizer like a tripod or monopod, you could also do this by moving closer or further away from the subject.
Overall, I’m happy with this adapter and lens. It is easily placed or removed from just about every lens I own, and the images are sharp. For the price, this is great for photographers who want to explore macro photography without breaking the bank.
I used this macro lens on my Sony A7R4, which had a Tamron 17-28mm lens mounted on it. It easily mounted to the Tamron lens with no problem.
As you can see by my before and after photos I still got some vignetting. I know the product listing shows that it doesn’t get vignetting, but I still did. Maybe it’s because of Sony’s full frame sensor. Either way, the image quality was still very good. So I would say for the price, I can crop in on the vignetting and still get a great image.
I’m a big fan of Neewer and own many of their products. So I would save for this price range it still does a great job.
