I have been using this product for over 10 years now. It is there up well and doesn’t create any skin irritation
The only drawback that I have found is it tends to dispense more than I need.
Have 1 can of the 6 faulty will not operate when pressed.their appears to be no process to report this after the 30 day period.
Nobody uses 6 cans within 30 days if anybody at Amazon reads this perhaps they can respond with a solution to rectify.
First time I have ever used this gel after years of using the lead brand, and I certainly won’t be going back to the other brand, this gel is great you only need a little bit on your shaving brush and it lathers up your face brilliantly, and after shaving and rinsing it leaves your skin lovely and soft. I highly recommend this product.
For about 20 years I have only used Gillette shaving products (gel and foam). However, I had started to get fed up with the can mess, there was always product left in the can and the price, so about 12 months ago tried this Nivea gel. In my opinion this Nivea gel product is better and cheaper than Gillette. In addition the can empties fully, never any mess on the can and even the can feel is superior to Gillette. I am never going back to Gillette.
This GEL comes out VERY quickly from the nozzle so press it VERY lightly.
It looks more like a white foam – rather than a ‘white gel’ when it dispenses.
I think previously a while ago that when the ‘gel’ was ‘dispensed’ it looked BLUE, but still turned white like a shaving foam when used on ‘the parts’ you require it for.
It is VERY easy to dispense too much if you press the nozzle to hard.
It smells quite nice TO ME – a ‘barely there’ fragrance making the user smell CLEAN’ and of ‘shower gel’ or…….well…..’after shave balm’…….rather than a freakin perfume shop if you use ‘too much’.
I wish there was a Nivea ‘anti-perpirant/deodorant’ variety – especially for sensitive skin’, but I have never found one.
A ‘shower gel’ in the same range ‘for sensitive skin’ would be nice too.
The Nivea ‘After Shave Balm’ – in the same WHITE with DARK BLUE colour schemed containers for ‘Sensitive Skin’ is quite highly priced – far too expensive for the TINY amount in each bottle.
I knew when I bought this product, that Nivea would make a quality product.I was right. The gel is nice and thick. It is for sensitive skin, and contains Aloe Vera. Which is for people who have soft skin. Be careful when buying this, if you have a skin allergy. For 5 cans this is a bargain buy.
For a daily shave its great, gentle push to stop a load coming out, I thought it was good value to buy 6 comparing to supermarket prices where they were selling for double the cost . Will last a year so a good buy for me
The brand of shaving gel I have been using for some years appears to have doubled in price now, both online and in the High Street – and it is a price I am not prepared to pay. It is such a shame that manufacturers believe customers will continue to buy products as prices go up and up. I for one, make a stand and go elsewhere.
I know the Nivea brand very well having used several of their products over the years so I didn’t worry at all about ordering this. The canisters are a good shape, a great press down top and a good lid. I was impressed by how they were able to create a quality design using less materials than other companies – always good for the environment – plus the whole empty package is recyclable.
The gel itself works fine but it is not the kind of “gel” I am used to from the other “name” brand. This Nivea gel comes out looking like an off-white gel and must be applied to a wet face but then it foams up almost as much as standard shaving foam (something I dislike). If anything, this is a combination of gel and shaving foam, as if the product couldn’t make up its mind what it should be. That being said, it did give a smooth, clean shave with no after-effects.
One thing I did notice was that I only needed to use half the amount I am used to pressing out. This foams up so very quickly on the face that it really is a case of “less is more” – which, I guess, is a good thing because if you have to use less then it is going to last a whole lot longer, adding to its savings and value.
A pack of 6 at this price is an amazing saving – even a huge saving on the original price of the gel I prefer from the “name” manufacturer. At the moment, I still prefer the gel I have used for years but I find nothing at all wrong with this Nivea product and will obviously continue to use it. Will I buy it again? That all depends upon prices. Will this go up in the future? Will the brand I prefer go down to a more acceptable price again? No one can answer those questions but, if things remain as they are, yes, I will buy this product again in the future – it gives a good shave, it is not expensive, and the scent is very light so it doesn’t intrude on any colognes/after shave a person might use.
I gave this 4 stars simply because I felt there was far too much foam once applied to the face, making it look and feel more like a shaving foam than a gel. But that is only my opinion and my personal choice. I would still certainly recommend this product since it works perfectly and is an excellent price. Just remember not to squeeze out too much of the gel otherwise you will be wasting it.
I have very sensitive skin and thick course hair which can curl in on itself so shaving, more so around the neck area requires solid preperation and multiple pass’s with a double edge blade. Personally I use Merkur 39C Slant Bar so need to ensure my face is really prepped. I have tried the soaps you mix with badger brush etc and while not as good, find for spraying this gel onto your hand then throw onto your face, it works nearly as well. The blade glides so smoothly over the skin for most the part it feels amazing.
I will suggest a brush to help level it and lift up the hair, also helps to whip this gel up really nicely, at least for me. Final check was with my Braun electric shaver a wet / dry model which does work with soaps and gels. For that I made the gel on my face slightly thinner and once again, in that case it worked absolutely amazing and added to the shave.
For me this is my go to no questions for gel in a can. The price is also reasonable, as of writing 12 so 2 a can is not too bad and it can go a fair while. Great stuff
