My buxus came through the winter covered in caterpillars and was brown, not a green leaf in sight. sprayed the buxus hedge as advised and bush is starting to recover.
Bought this as we discovered we had box hedge caterpillars all over our box hedging which had been in for around 10 years. We sprayed the 40 hedging trees every week for 6 weeks and trimmed the infected areas off . They are slowly starting to regrow and we are hoping they don’t get infected again. Great product that works !
This worked initially, but after a few months the ‘caterpillar bug’ came back. The effected bush was treated again, but a few months later the ‘bug’ is slowly coming back. I’m hoping that with one more (thorough treatment – a good soaking) the bush will make a complete recovery.
Did exactly what it said. Sprayed the hedge which was being eaten by the soon to be dead caterpillars. Made sure neighbours with the same problem did too. A couple of days later, total wipeout.
I have about 20 box plants mostly in pots. Got hit last year by box moth and used this after some research.
Now I keep this in stock all the time as these moths/caterpillars can destroy box trees before you even realise they ate there. Check regularly by brushing your hands over the plants and look out for the striped caterpillars. If found. Spray all plants thoroughly. Problem fixed. For now.
After a really bad Box caterpillar infestation that completely wiped out around 10ft section of bush that stripped it back to the bare branches, I thought it was dead and buried but this did exactly what it said.
After around 10days with some Bux feed on top I have sprouts of leaf growth again. I’ll be ordering more in future as a precaution.
Box moth caterpillars can strip established plants quickly. I’m lucky that mine did manage to survive last year’s onslaught. As you are meant to spray when it is above 15C and no rain for a couple of days I’m not surprised that a few caterpillars appeared this year. Hopefully this will see them off. It is easy enough to mix the sachets with water and spray.
Sprayed one sachet over our trees which had already started being eaten by the little pests a couple of weeks ago.
A week later, they were still all over the trees, but another application and another week timespan and they’re all curling up and dying off.
Now here’s to hoping they recover for summer!
Had to use instructions on the Amazon description as there were none on or in the box. Easy to use and it works. Definitely a keeper / user for my box hedging.
Nothing seems to stop these little critters so I decided to buy a ton of this stuff and keep dumping in on my box hedge. The were really chomping away it was raining nearly every day so I was spraying every day just to keep some on the hedge. When we had a bit of dry weather I was spraying twice a week or whenever I could see a load of them. We now have a bit of nice weather and they seemed to have stopped, I think died off for now. Trouble is, there are so many eggs stuck on the hedge that I’m going to keep spraying once a week or more to stop them. As you can see from the pictures, a lot of the bottom half has been eaten, but there are some new shoots coming through. Whether the hedge survives or not remains to be seen. Long term I’m going to grow some privet hedge to replace it otherwise it’s going to keep costing a fortune. They killed off some hedges I had in the back garden.
As for the product, yes, it seems to be working, but don’t expect to give it a quick spray and that will sort it, it won’t. Constant spraying is required, and the size of my hedge it doesn’t come cheep.
Got em! Yes I used this for the ever growing population of box caterpillars which appears to be an increasing problem. Despite using later in April, when not quite as cold as I think is recommended, it does appear to have worked. I will have to keep an eye out as I assume this is a problem that could easily come back (judging from other hedges in my local area) but needless to say product comes in a plentiful quantity and is easy to use so I suspect will be needing again soon.
Just sprayed my bushes giving them a good soaking and the caterpillars come racing to the top. I’d never actually seen any before I treated them. I used one litre per topary ball/cone using a sprayer that I screwed onto a 1 litre soda bottle after mixing one sachet to 3 litre of water in a large water bottle and giving a good shake to mix , working from inside the bush outwards. I’ll give them another soaking in a few days. Fingers crossed it will work but so far so good
I have used various products to control caterpillars on my Box Hedge, and I have found BuxRevive to be as effective as any, but competitively priced.
I have read in a review here that the sale of this product is ‘Forbidden’ , are you sure ?
