This is a really good 8 slot AA and AAA battery charger. I have quite a lot of rechargeable batteries, so I was glad to get this 8 slot charger, it is well made and easy to use. Each battery compartment has a red status light while the battery is charging and a green light when charging is finished, so you always know what’s happening and it will turn itself off when charging is finished, it will also detect any battery with a fault and will not charge it which is good. All batteries are charged quite fast and you’re able to charge just one or two up to its full capacity of eight. Good price for what is is and what it does.

As per the title really, this is a good charger for the price and with the functionality of showing individual charger status for each battery. Just a shame no batteries were included, nevertheless, it seems good enough, and chargers some other batteries I have. I cant think of anything else to include. It was missing a cable as well to charge with too I believe, but I may be mistaken on that part, and it may be somewhere in one of my drawers. Anyhow, if you want a charger that charges single batteries, and shows status upon charging for around a tenner, then this seems to be a good option for you.

Great little charger. 8 slots so lots batteries can be charged.
Nice that they have put specifications moulded on the base, for when you lose the instructions and aren’t sure what it can charge. They used to do this all the time ,but not so much any more.
This charger means you are not tied to mains electricity.
So if you are camping or driving in the car, you can use a powerbank or a 12v car outlet to charge your batteries.
Simply spring mechanism lets you insert the batteries easily and they are also easy to remove.
When you add the power it switches on and after a short time, if no batteries are inserted it will switch itself off. Good feature that can bring back old batteries from the dead.
For the price you can’t complain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile charger. Ideal for when there is no mains electric

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUnlike a few other AA chargers I have, this Powerowl unit has several key advantages. For starters it’s very slim and looks quite smart. Instead of the usual stepped individual bays for accommodating either AA or AAA batteries, this unit features clever sprung terminals on the negative cell sides which move into the correct position.

It also operates from any USB-C power source, meaning no separate power supply to lose and you can use it from a USB charger or even a power-bank. Perhaps the best feature though is the clever intelligent charging and battery repair feature. At first I thought this might be a bit of a gimmick, but on trying some old 2400mAh copper top NiMH AA batteries which I assumed were no longer usable, within less than a minute they were charging again.

The unit can accommodate up to 8 batteries, any combination of AA and AAA. Each bay has an LED indicator which either shows red, green or flashing red and green. Red indicates the battery is charging, green indicates it’s fully charged and flashing means a charging abnormality. I assume the latter means the battery is no longer usable, although on a few occasions after a short while it did change to red and started charging.

Whilst this definitely won’t any race for charging times, it’s probably a lot more gentle to NiMH batteries and can charge 8 AAs of decent capacity in several hours. I used it with a USB-C fast charger and whilst it worked fine (unlike some devices which require a standard USB output to USB-C to charge), the unit only draws a maximum of 2A at 5V. Given each cell can charge up to a maximum of 350mA, large capacity AA cells will take many hours to fully charge from empty.

The unit also prevents you accidentally trying to charge ordinary alkaline or non-rechargeable cells. It doesn’t get warm in use and you get a 2 year warranty which is always reassuring. For the price this offers great value when you need to charge a large number of NiMH batteries at the same time, with the versatility of USB-C power input and intelligent charging.

4.0 out of 5 stars A smart NiMH charger that won't break the bank and can be powered from a power-bank

This is a great update to traditional battery chargers. Because this charger can be powdered by USB-C, it’s far more convenient, I have it plugged into my computer. It comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable.

It’s really small, about the size of an A6 piece of paper and is about the thickness of an AA battery.

The LED indicators are very useful for knowing the status of the batteries. The charger stops charging once the battery is full, so there is no risk of overcharging. The manual says not to leave the batteries stored in the charger.

If there is an issue with a battery, the LED lights will flash. I had an old Duracell battery that wasn’t holding charge. When I tested it in this charger, the LED flashed (I’ve attached a video showing this). All my other (newer) batteries have charged fine. So it’s good to have verification that the battery is used up, so can be thrown away.

I think this is a great charger.

Four good things about this charger:
It’s inexpensive; it’s USB-powered, so no worries about mains chargers catching fire; it holds eight batteries, AA or AAA; and warning lights display the state of charging.
The first three are indisputable, but I’m going to have to learn to trust the indicators.
I put in eight, and three were shown initially as having a charging issue. After a short time, seven were apparently ok. Now all eight are shown as charging.
The batteries are old but functional, so might have contributed to the erratic results.
Early days, but with its eight-battery capacity this should prove a very handy device.
UPDATE: I’ve now used this multiple times and the performance has been excellent, with consistent battery charge indicators. It also appears to be charging far quicker than my old mains-powered unit.

I needed a new charger for my double A batteries so ordered this.
It comes in a nice little box bundled with a usb-c cable and a small instruction pamphlet.
I started using it straight away all you have to do is plug it in virus usb-c cable and then pop in either your AA or AAA batteries.
For this test I was personally using AA batteries.
The batteries are was charging what on about half charge, it did start charging them no problem at all and it took about 4 hours to fully charge them. I can confirm it did charge them very well.
The only problem here is that it states it is a fast charger, I would think a fast charger for these kind of batteries would be about two hours as it is no different from my old slow charger.
This was my own personal experience and I was using nimh rated 2000 batteries. Please set my picture for proof of the batteries actually having been charged.
Overall there is not much you can write your review about these kind of charges as there are the work or they do not, I can confirmed this worked well just not as fast as I would have expected so overall I will give this four stars and still recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good charger, not that fast though.

    DO YOU NEED ONE?
In most homes this will make a difference in the long term both in costs and in landfill or whatever happens to old batteries

    DOES IT WORK?
Yes I am not sure how much charge these four had in them but it charged them up in about four hours. Whilst charging I was chatting to a neighbour who said he has a cheap battery tester, I checked them with it after charging and they were in the green, they then went in the TV remote and it worked
At no point did they or the charger get more than slightly warm.
Inserting and removing was easy and the lights are self explanatory.

    WILL IT BREAK?
I do not think so, the cable fits in well and it all seems OK quality. It is small enough that I can store it easily out of harms way.

    VALUE
9.99 at the time of buying it seems good value.

ANY REASONS NOT TO BUY IT?
No, I would recommend it. Would have been nice if it included a battery tester function so that you could see how much charge was in them before and after.

My reviews follow this star rating:
1 Star; Very unsatisfactory product. I do not recommend buying it,
2 Stars; Significant deficiencies, does not fulfil its expected functions,
3 Stars; Average product. Complies with expectations,
4 Stars; Very good and satisfying. I liked it and it’s a quality product,
    5 Stars; Excellent, exceeds expectations.
