I would have expected to pay a lot more for such a great TV. Wonderful picture quality and worked straight out of the box when connected to a digital aerial. Auto tuning was a dream.
This t v came very well packed, it’s a lovely set, setting up a bit confusing but we will get there, have to use the remote to enter password for Sky but there is no way to change character from small to capital, but we won’t be beaten.picture is perfect.
Highly recommended by me.
after purchasing one for myself for my bedroom my mother decided she wanted one also . so easy to install and use , my 85 year old mother can use it with ease , and shes not up to speed with fantastic new technology
I unpacked it, set it up where I was putting it, plugged it all in, then followed instructions to tune it in.
Then set up my prime and net flicks account and away to go.
Great picture and easy to use
I read other reviews before buying.
I am pleased to say,for the money it was a wise decision.
Easy to set up, just plug it in put and Aerial on it and you’re off.
The Tv is perfect for a gaming setup or a small bedroom or a kids bedroom, it’s very easy to navigate round and also it is smooth and it’s very good quality, it’s a nice looking Tv also for if your trying to make a room look nicer, the only downside is I don’t like the stands on this Tv, they don’t get much grip but if your going to mount on a wall then this is a perfect Tv.
Havnt used fully yet as waiting on decorating to be done but I did set it up to make sure was ok and literally took minutes and all looks fab. Bargain smart tv
A very good TV for the price. The HD channels are very clear but I’ve seen better quality non HD channels. Overall the quality is good but the instruction booklet is too basic and doesn’t detail a lot of the functions. Took me ages to figure out why the auto scan channels were in a random order and didn’t correspond to the uk listing numbers. Sorted it in the end but it would have been nice to have more accurate instructions.
I love this tv.
The picture quality is good, the price is good, the size is good.
I like the style of it, you have two options for the stand and its very lightweight.
Although a few times colours have flashed on the screen, I have ignored it and it hasn’t happened again.
The price is honestly unbeatable, I haven’t had any other issues with it so far.
Overall good purchase 🙂
I bought this tv because my previous tv had stopped working and tbh had never worked well. This tv is very lightweight and the controls are very responsive. It uses a qr code option to log me into all my favourite apps which makes life easier and quicker for me when setting up. Also it’s a very reasonable able price.
Very good value for money. But i needed to do quite a bit of extra tuning to improve the quality of the picture. Still working on it to achieve the quality I want.
Shipped without remote, manual or screws for stand. However, supplier promptly dealt with the issue and posted missing items. TV now up and running perfectly. Great picture! Can recommend product.
I bought it as a gift to pair with a Chromecast as I had purchased the standard version.
Overall they enjoyed it, I didn’t see them till the next day as they were binging content.
They like it, I find it okay as I’m used to more branded panels such as Samsung. However, decent size, okay colour production, and no thrills and whistles. Just a TV.
Recommended product.
I just can’t fault this TV for the price. I just got it as a temporary substitute whilst my main TV is in storage and I’m amazed at what good quality this is, not to mention the ease of use and the large selection of features available.
I had no choice, as I am on a low income. My previous TV gave up, ad this was the cheapest 32″ 1080p.
THe review is based on that, not comparing it to other TVs.
Screen – Watching TV programs, and streaming it looks great, no problems with black and colout fades are great, can’t see any blocky edges as the shade turns brighter/darker.
However, with a fullscreen white page and black text, I can clearly see the three backlights, as they are giving a brighter area around them. The text there is great, as it looks perfect, but between them it looks a little bold and starts to get a little fuzzy-edged.
Cannot fault it overall, as it gives great prerformance watching streaming videos.
Audio – leaves a LOT to be desired, very tinny and sounds like it’s reverbing close up. From a distance it sounds OK, just a little trebly, easily fixed by going 35% treble and 60% bass.
Remote control – great, I can point it away from the TV and it works.
If you just want to use it as a TV, it will be great.
If you want to use it with a PC, it leaves a little to be desired when using it for PC functions. It may also be problematic getting it into colour matching setup for printing if you use Coreldraw or any other high-end pantone apps.
I bought this for my DJ sets using AV via the HDMI from my laptop. Its a decent size. Not too large to handle and not too expensive to buy. It comes with loads of features I’ve not needed to explore but my impression is that its good quality and will last for years. The audio from the built in speakers seems pretty good too. I had onee problem though. After initial setup via HDMI one and my laptop it seemed to forget this setting the next time I powered it up at an event. Things got worse when I tried to select HDMI two as it needs a internet connection to change the settings which seems a but silly. I had to hotspot off my phone but I still couldn’t sort it out. Fortunately there was a TV engineerr who set things up for me but I was too busy to see what was involved. I’m still pleased with this TV and I just think I need to explore the features more thoroughly so I don’t come unstuck at future events. There were secondhanded 15 year old TV’s on the market for the same price as this was new. The setup is automatic through and email link. Very clever stuff. Get one, you won’t be dissapointed.
Bought for Christmas.
I didn’t want an over bearing TV.
We have quite a small front room, so perfect size, would make a good bedroom TV also.
Slim, fits nicely on a 50 inch TV cabinet.
Matches other industrial style furniture bought from Amazon.
2 friends put it together, took less than 1 hour.
2 shelves for sky/ BT box
Nik naks, books.
2 side storages spaces that go back deep enough to for encyclopaedia or large cook books.
Doors a Louvre style.
Actual cabinste is about 2 inches up from where feet sit on floor.
Looks nice, great price, highly recommend.
Good TV – Roku OS is fast and does not lag like some of the cheaper fire TV’s. Its a budget TV but definitely one of the better ones. The picture is good, although with black images you can see a bit of white shining through. But again, a good budget TV
A great TV, but, there does seem to be an issue with the wireless internet connectivity.
On first turning on the TV, it scanned for available networks and I chose the appropriate one. After this, the TV updated its software and I thought everything was good to go, but this wasn’t the case. It became apparent the wireless connection had failed. To make matters worse, there was no way to make the TV re-scan for available networks. On scouring Google, this fault has plagued others. I gave up eventually and ran an Ethernet cable from my router instead. It looks to me like the software update upset things, but, strangely enough, even a factory reset has failed to make any difference. Anyway, an Ethernet cable is a more reliable connection, so it will do for me.
The TV has improved clarity and sound over my old Samsung TV, and the number of stations I can now view has increased dramatically. I can also watch Prime Video, YouTube and others without any fuss and bother. I also find the remote navigation a breeze, and it is plenty responsive for me.
I am happy with the TV, though the wireless side of things should be attended to as it is a bit of a head scratcher to fix (it means messing with modem settings and so on, apparently).
I have now paired the TV with my computer using the very affordable Wireless HDMI Display Adapter from Amazon (the cheap 7.96 version), which works perfectly (see my other review on how to set it up).
Got as care home room TV for Mum she is over 80 and not good with tech. So basic nonsmart was what was called for too many of the SMART TV require internet or wifi connection this does not need any of that. TV is Easy to use and supports Freeview HD and you can reprogram ch List so channels list so her favorites are now on CH 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Supports HDMI and tv aerial connectors.
The remote control has big buttons easy to use for her.
Picture Quality OK for 80+ year old its no 4k Picture Quality but good on HD .
The sound output is not very loud but as said we only wanted it for her own room does the job in a small room fine for her use.
Good TV for a Bed Room
*** Beware for those buying this TV for an older relative – it’s a pain to setup and requires you to create/login to your Roku account, even if you just want to use it for regular TV. ***
Pros:
– Good value for money
– Picture quality OK (for the price)
– The menu & remote is quite responsive
– Startup time from standby is excellent
– Lots of connectivity (Wired & wireless ethernet, 3 x HDMI, composite AV, optical audio out)
– Nice features such as the ability to name AV/HDMI inputs as you please
– The Roku ecosystem is easy to use with the main providers all available
Cons:
– The initial setup takes ages and requires a Roku account and internet access
– The sound quality isn’t great (although perhaps inline with the price it is sold at)
– It’s only a 720p display (this applies to most 24″ TVs though)
– It comes without the feet attached – a cross head screwdriver is required
– The Roku activation process strongly encourages you to enter your payment card details (these ARE NOT required – do not enter unless you want to use pay-per-view).
As observation: It weighs almost nothing…. This may be seen as an advantage if you want to mount it on a thin wall or it may be viewed as evidence of extreme cost cutting.
Overall though I would buy this TV again.
This was a crisis purchase caused by my old TV’s backlight failure. I wanted a direct replacement;- an inexpensive non internet (camera free) TV that I could connect to my existing SCART DVD player and 1990’s hi fi system.
After being laughed out of John Lewis and Curry’s, I found this on Amazon. Problem solved.
The picture quality is very good for a basic LCD display; even when used in standard definition mode. The screen is the typical very dark blue when not in use, as opposed to the jet black of an OLED screen.
Easy enough to install on my existing VESA 200 wall bracket although it sits a bit higher* and no compatible VESA mounting bolts are supplied. (Fortunately I managed to find some). *The mounting plate sits at the bottom of the TV instead of the normal mid point.
Set up was straightforward although for some reason the channel numbers assigned are completely random. When I’ve got time I’ll try and sort that out.#
As others have mentioned; the device is very light- lighter than my previous 32″ set. This makes it a lot easier to hang.
Might have been nice to find a compatible non internet OLED model but that seems to be an impossible ask. At 185 I have no complaints about this one. If it lasts me a few years until I can afford to upgrade my entire system I’ll be happy.
Update # The channel numbers can be reassigned one by one: a fairly laborious process. The electronic programme guide is actually the set’s weakest point. The programme information on each channel is typically limited to a couple of hours ahead. It is however possible to look ahead 1,2,3..days. Strange but true.
Ordered to upgrade my dad’s old 32″ Sony. At the price point it was worth a try, even though some reviews were negative.
I was suitably impressed with this TV enough for me to order one to replace the one I have, as this comes with a DVB T2 tuner (mine is a DVB T) which means that it has Freeview HD channels.
Fingers crossed mine will be just as good.
Update: mine was delivered super fast and even on Bank Holiday Monday.
I have managed to watch some football on the HD ITV channel, and the 60hz kept up with it well. Great HD picture and sound is decent.
I have also connected an old Wii using the provided cables in the box. It works.
There is a scart connect, which I have attached my old VCR to. It works.
I have used the usb to power my Now TV stick. It works.
I have used a USB stick to record live TV. It works. However, there are absolutely zero instructions for using this function so it is very much up to the user to work out. The usual recording via EPG is there, which means that on a TV / Freeview box with a single DVB tuner, if you are watching something at the time it will switch to the programme you have set to record when the time comes.
I have zero idea how to delete anything from the usb using the TV either: probably have to take it out and connect it to a computer and do it that way…
As with the first TV, when the box came it was so light I wondered if there was even a TV inside. The TV is so lightweight that I would have 100% confidence putting on a bracket on any of the walls in my house. Even a plaster board partition.
At this price point I am very happy with the TV. Time will tell of long lasting quality.
(Btw, I haven’t tried the 3.5mm out yet, nor the optical out. Nor do I have ‘cable TV’ or a satellite dish, which this also has connections for…)
In case anyone is wondering after all of the above, I have docked a star for a few reasons:
1, is that it ‘only’ has 2 X HDMI when my preference would be for 3.
2, there is only 1 USB socket, so there has to be a choice between making it a smart TV with Now/Firestick/Roku etc (for USB to power) or as a stick Freeview recorder.
3, the remote has to be pointed almost exactly in a straight line to the sensor on the TV for it to register. It is supper fast when it does, and is something that I will get used to, but it is still worth mentioning.
Edit. Nearly a whole year on and all of the above still holds.
Still excellent picture quality for the price point and cannot fault it, other than the points mentioned above.
I considered getting another, smaller one for the bedroom, but my old supermarket TV is still going strong so these will have to stay in My List for the day I need it.
The last time I bought a TV was 10 years ago so I am comparing it with a something that is over 10 years old. My old TV only came with the BBC iPlayer and a couple of others that required subscription whereas the RCA is fully up to date with all the catchup apps. The tuner also turns out to be quite sensitive – I live 37km from the transmitter that is also behind several walls (I live in a mid terrace) and yet it is able to pick up all the channels with an indoor aerial. However,
1) there doesn’t appear to be a way to search the EPG. On my old TV, I could search by name or category (e.g. Star Trek or film) and see what (live) programmes are coming up. The only search that appears to be available is for on-demand content;
2) the IPTV “data” channels such as Vision TV don’t work. Considering that they work flawlessly on my 10-year old TV this is rather disappointing. Hopefully it will be addressed in a future software update;
3) there is an option to add “wireless audio devices” to the TV, devices such as speakers and soundbar with the graphic also showing headphones. I have not been able to get it to detect my bluetooth headphones;
4) the remote is essential the same remote used in a Roku streamer slightly modified for a TV. As such it is missing some common buttons like one to turn subtitles on and off with a single touch.
For the price this is not a bad TV although it can be a lot better.
Update:
I have now had the TV for nearly 2 weeks. The Roku App turns out to be quite useful and mitigates some of the shortcomings of the remote control. Using the app’s voice input, the many clicks that were previously needed to turn on subtitles can now be achieved by simply saying “turn on subtitles”. To open a “channel” (an app in Roku speak), you can say something like “launch ITVX” to launch the new ITV app.
Live TV may be paused if you connect a flash drive to one of the USB ports. However, beware that a current bug causes the pause buffer to be wiped if you turn off the display, so if you get a phone call in the middle of a programme, you can pause for up to 90 minutes but do not be tempted to turn off the TV screen to save electricity.
I tried to ask the seller about the failure to play the Freeview data channels through the Amazon website but did not get any response. There is no information in the supplied manual on where you can get technical support. Neither the Roku nor the RCA website list this model. I fear that once the Amazon return window passes, getting support may be tricky.
Update 2: April 2023
A couple of days ago the TV updated to Roku OS 12.0.0, build 4171. The update broke all of the Freeview catch up apps. Any attempt to launch any one of the Freeview apps from the home screen results in an error message saying “Channel Unavailable”. The only way these apps can be accessed now is via the EPG. With the EPG up, press “*” and select an app to start from there. The update is also causing the “private listening” audio to break up. Usually this can be fixed by toggling the headphones on/off button on the Roku mobile app. All in all, this is a poor update and it is not recommended.
Update 3: April 2023
The problem with the Freeview catch up apps has been fixed. Unfortunately, most of the Freeview data channels still do not work (see attached photo) despite the OS update.
