This is good solid bike mount, I’ve used it on some of the more rough terrains in my area and it’s held up well.
It’s fit on my handlebars without issue and comes with great instructions
So far so good
Love this clamp as I can attach a gopro or phone mount to it. It is very nice quality and each of the joints clamp up tight and don’t move, the metal arm with ball joints at each end gives you lots of options for positioning.
This mount stands out for its premium feel, thanks to the use of metal parts. It offers a snug fit for both the GoPro ball mount and the handlebars, with a rubber insert on the handlebar grip to prevent damage. There’s ample adjustability for achieving the perfect camera placement, and it even includes a standard camera screw mount for compatibility with other cameras besides GoPro. Highly recommended.
Important to note before anything else; the given clamping range of “14mm-65mm” is not correct.
The maximum opening of the jaws is about 51mm, but that’s at the absolute widest point. They have tightly curved faces which seem to be intended for ~22-25mm tubes; but I think ~40mm would be the maximum diameter tube this would reasonably secure to.
It’s a shame, because this is actually a fantastic product.
The grey body/arm is beautifully finished cast (and machined?) aluminium with a matching handle; both seemingly sand-blasted and anodized. You’re not going to break this. Special care seems to have been taken with smoothing off the parts.
The plastic (GRP?) clamp body and matching handle are similarly solid and also have a satin (but black) finish. There are various steel and aluminium inserts for the clamping mechanism. The jaws have rubber pads to protect the clamped surface.
I currently have this attached to my 22mm tube/wire shelving unit and the stability of the arm is fantastic. All the tightening threads/knobs work smoothly and feel great. I love that they’ve matched the style of the knobs despite being made of two different materials.
The ball joints have moulded-in rubber coatings, making the arm position lock securely with relatively little tightening force.
Aside from the miss-advertised clamping range, the only negative is the camera thread stud/ball attachment has the same beautifully smooth finish as the rest of the parts; which in this case is not desirable, because it makes tightening up the fitting more difficult. A little knurling on the outer edge would have improved this significantly.
I would strongly recommend this clamping set if it were accurately described in the listing.
Provided with two different adaptors, this camera mount allows you to fix your action camera or anything that uses the quarter inch British Standard Whitworth thread such as cameras, mobile phone holders and so on. The mount fixes to your motorcycle or anything that has round bars such as scooters, push bikes and even the roof rack of your car for that matter.
The mount comprises of a clamp with a ball on the end, the end that your equipment joins on to which can be either the action camera mount or alternatively the quarter Whitworth fitting; and, a section that joins the two together. The middle is metal and strong enough but the ends are made of plastic and provide the weak points in the design. For something similar to the mass of an action camera these are easily strong enough for most of the forces that you are likely to encounter with a motorcycle but if you have something heavier such as an SLR or DSLR, you may be pushing it a little too much.
Additionally, the whole thing is larger than it would have to be if it was all made of metal – the ball joints being the reason for this as they are plastic.
On the whole, this is a useful adapter to have as there are plenty of applications for this as it is not limited to motorcycles.
This looks and feels like a good quality product, it is of an alloy construction and is very well made.
I initially did not see it comes with a 1/4″ thread connection and thought it only had the finger attachment but it has both making it useable with a wide variety of devices.
The mount in use is very adjustable in every direction so you can get your device pointing just where you want it. The pincer clamp and the double ball clamp both have large knobs which makes it very easy to tighten up, unlike some which have small knobs or a small bar. When tightened up this is a very sturdy clamp. How this would hold up on a motor cycle I do not know, but it does clamp up tight and secure.
I originally got this for my action camera, but after unpacking and attaching my camera to it, I had a better idea. I have a 2nd webcam on my desk that is attached to a tripod which takes up desk space and I thought I wonder if I could use this for my webcam. I’m glad to say it worked, I attached my webcam to the mount and the mount to the tripod of one of my lights, see attached photographs. This works great and has freed up some desk space.
In conclusion a really good quality, well constructed easy to use piece of kit. 5 Stars from me.
I hope you found this review helpful.
I have another magic arm which I now realise (retrospectively) could fit onto bike or motorbike handlebars.
This one though is more chunky, armoured and strong, with an all metal construction – aluminium alloy & stainless steel.
It has a pincer clamp on one end, and a camera tripod 1/4 inch thread on the other.
Actually, you can change the tripod 1/4 inch thread to the included action camera (GoPro) mount.
As with magic arms of these sorts, you can vary the angle of attachment in pretty much any way you choose.
Everything included is rock steady, with no wobble or worry that things will fall off.
The pincer jaws open up 45mm at the tip. 50mm if you can slide the jaws onto the end of the cylinder.
(PS: It’s not 65mm opening as is stated in the Amazon listing).
The maximum weight to be carried is (up to) 3.5kg (stated on the Amazon listing).
(PS: The instructions state the maximum carry weight is 150g, which is obviously a mistake).
Other uses of the magic arm might be to hold different equipment to ‘different things’.
Those things might be microphones, LED lights, tripods, cameras, and (obviously) phones.
The phone mount is not included in the package, but I have one which will fit just fine.
This is a good product, and I am happy to use it.
This is a very nice, well made and somewhat heavy duty mount for various cameras. Ball joint top and bottom which are both secured with the centre clamp. By fully releasing the clamp you can change the camera mount from action camera to 1/4″ screw fitting. This feels really secure when installed and inspires confidence however I would recommend a safety tether just in case! Great value.
