There is nothing about these self watering plant pots that I do not love. I am very guilty of killing plants, particularly as I often have to spend time away from home and no-one will remember to water my plants while I am away. On return, they’re often dropping and sometimes are past saving. These pots give a lot of freedom to plant lovers, without all the hassle of home-made solutions.
Basically they consist of an avocado-green pot (very of-the-moment) and a black inner, the inner is the water chamber and the two are connected via a rope so that the water can travel up the rope to give the plants a drink whenever needed. Alternatively if you water from the top, the black reservoir will act as a plant saucer to ‘save’ the water until it is later needed. it’s a simple trick, around a long time but lately done with so much style or ease.
I chose the set of six 6in pots which are very good size and will be transferring herb and salad seedlings into them once they are big enough. I can now have a self watering edible garden on my windowsill , with a cost at time of writing of only 16.99 (excellent value considering you are basically getting six large pots and six saucers for this price) – can’t ask for better than that!
I love these self-watering pots! As someone who’s notoriously forgetful when it comes to watering plants, these pots have been an absolute game-changer for me.
The design is simple but ingenious. The cotton rope absorbs water from the pot, keeping the soil consistently moist without the need for daily watering. It’s saved me so much time (and guilt). I can confidently go on short trips or even forget to water for a while without worrying about my plants drying out.
The quality of these pots is really good. They’re made of high-quality, non-toxic, heat and cold resistant plastic, which gives me peace of mind knowing that they’re safe for my plants and durable enough to last a long time.
Plus, they look pretty cute!
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with them. They’ve simplified my plant care routine, ensured my plants stay healthy and hydrated, and looks nice on the window sill. If you’re like me and struggle with remembering to water your plants, I can highly recommend.
These are fantastic plant pots and I’m transferring all my seedling into them now it’s spring. They are sturdy, a good size and well made. The self watering feature appears to be working really well. They look good too.

I’ll admit it, I am not the best when it comes to watering my plants when they need a drink of water, but that problem is now gone thanks to these pots.
These pots are sturdy, well made and look really nice but they also do a great job at keeping my plants hydrated when I sadly can’t. I can’t really see any problems with these besides maybe if the roots grow a bit too vigorously and then I can see how they possibly would get stuck in the grate in the bottom, but even that isn’t a huge negative in my book. Would recommend!

This set of 3 self watering plant pots look really nice in the pale green, there a 3 inserts for the pot and 3 lengths of rope that attaches for its self watering.
Before any plant gets potted the rope needs to be fed into the base of the smaller black pots and then potting can commence.
The smaller black pots have been filled with some houseplants, ( I have no idea what they are ) and water has been put into the green pot.
They feed themselves by slowly absorbing the water up through the cotton rope, which then keeps them hydrated.
These pots are ideal if you need to go away for a holiday and have no one to pop in to water them, just fill the small reservoir in the green pot and place your black pot back inside, they will then keep themselves watered and you can relax knowing there won’t be loads of dead leaves when you return.
At 11.89 at the time of writing this review, these pots are a good buy, especially if like my wife there are plants everywhere you look, she is impressed so that’s a bonus.

The plant pot’s are plastic and come with a black inner which has holes through and also some rope which is the main reason I got these, I am always either over watering or not watering my plants enough so always end up with dead plants and I had just realised I just shouldn’t have plants until I saw these and I love this idea. You put water in the bottom of the pot then add the black inner with the rope in the bottom and plant your plant, once planted the rope controls the amount of water so it can drain into the bottom but the rope will absorb the water up into the soil if it gets dry keeping it moist at all times and therefore giving the plant the best care possible for the forgetful owner.
Other than this the pots seem well made and durable whilst also looking nice with the modern design and easy to clean plastic. I would absolutely recommend these.
Are you bored of the standard clay looking pots? Well I sure am, and finally decided it is time for me to report all of my plants in something a bit more fancy.
These pots are great – they look nice, but are also functional (having separate containers for the soil and the water to be able to drip down so you don’t suffocate your plants with stale water).
This is a great solution when you want to make your plants look a little more fancy and presentable but without sacrificing function.
The price, however is a bit steep for what is essentially some plastic containers, but if you don’t mind the price then I think these are pretty nice pots.

Overall I really like these pots. The concept is pretty easy to understand with the cotton reaching into the water reservoir to keep a slow and steady amount of water flow. My only concern is wouldn’t the cotton string go moldy from being constantly damp and potentially damp and warm as we get into warmer months? I’d still recommend these despite my concern.
These are lovely pots, and I am extremely happy with them. They are a very light green colour and go perfect with my kitchen dcor. The plastic is good quality, with a nice ripple effect design.
To assemble the pots you thread a wick through the bottom of the inner pot, which then feeds down underneath. This then sits nicely in the outer pot.
Extremely happy with these, and the pack is a good size as sell, more pots than I will need!
These are a great idea for looking after your house plants! I have some dotted around and despite me watering them they seem to struggle to survive. I am possibly over watering them, but thought I’d try these. It’s a great idea, a set of plant pots with a removable interior. The water is fed through some small rope which runs through the bottom of the pots, this is not visible but ensures a constant source of water for the plant. After only a week of usage my plants are looking healthier. Would also be great solution if you are not home much or for when you go away for a longer period of time.
These are very easy to set up and use, however my only issue is the quality of the exterior pots. They look fine but really are quite flimsy. I feel like the manufacturer could have spent some more time and money on improving the exterior design and quality
A brilliant idea, ideal for me as I’m not the best at keeping houseplants. Works well. However I had to buy compost and repot the plants into the pots (I really didn’t think it through when I ordered them). The fact of the matter is, they actually did need repotting. The only problem I found with these posts was the depth of the actual pot. It was shorter than some of my current plants. Yet because of the water storage in the outer pot, the size was the same. Some of the plants I could afford to lose some of the soil depth, some I couldn’t. Bear this in mind when ordering. Also ideal for my bedding plants outside in the summer.
These pots are a great idea that save time watering but also avoid overwatering. I tend to either over water or forget to water so these help me to have a reservoir of water in the bottom that can wick up into the plant through the string, but the plants are not stood in too much water. The plant inner black pots and outer light green pots are designed to fit together so that there is a space in the bottom for the reservoir of water. It depends on the type of plant you have as to how long between watering but when I go on holiday if I fill up the reservoirs, I am far more likely to have healthy plants, or at least alive plants, when I return than before I got these pots. I have not used them long enough to test out the plant pot material to see if it can withstand both cold and heat but if it can this would truly be an excellent product. The simple subtle style of these pots fits into my home well and they would blend into most styles of home. I am looking forward to spring when I can use more of these pots to start off herbs like coriander, basil and mint in the greenhouse then have the pots of herb on my kitchen windowsill ready for use.
For the price tag of twenty quid for six plant pots, even though they have the more complex double-walled design, I still expected these to feel more durable and substantial than they do. They are a thin, wobbly plastic, reminiscent of the thinnest plant pots garden centres use for their cheap stock, and if I managed to grow something particularly tall in one of these pots, I’d be worried about how to weigh it down because it could quite easily become top-heavy. Other plant pots around this kind of price tag are more substantial.
Unfortunately, I think the pots look cheap aesthetically too. The inner tray is mostly hidden and the black tip does give the impression of a thicker pot, maybe even a ceramic pot. However it’s spoiled by the grey colour on the set I got, which is a very dull, semi-matte grey that is unmistakably plastic, and which looks dull as well as cheap.
The self watering design is nicely implemented. I’ve seen it on other pots before and it does work well, provided you get the levels right- it’s still possible to drown a plant’s roots by overfilling, but for letting the roots and soil slowly soak the water up through the wick provided, it does work well as a slow-release watering system. Obviously it’s not “self-watering” in the literal sense, but you can certainly water with larger quantities and less often this way. The wick seems nicely absorbent and the pots are working so far.
If they felt a bit more durable, with plastic that felt worth pounds instead of pennies, I might’ve given these five stars.
This set arrives as six outer pots, six liners and six wicks. I like the design and the colour is good – it compliments our decor perfectly. The outer pots are not very rigid but are fine once the liner is inserted. This design is ideal for people who don’t want to water every day, but is of great benefit for delicate plants (like cacti and succulents) that don’t like wet soil around the base of their stems and are prone to rot. It will also encourage the roots to travel downwards in search of water. Very happy with these, they look stylish and will do a good job.
These are great! I am a big fan of plants, and have quite a collection around the house… each one needed it’s own watering schedule and needs, etc, however I find it much easier to bottom-feed the plants, but even then it becomes a big task to do that, empty them out, let them dry, etc so these have just made my life SO much easier!
The idea behind these is, you re-port the plant into the provided plastic black inner-pots, but before you do that you add one of the small watering-cords into the bottom of the plant – then you add water into the actual plant pot and place the plant (in the black inner pot) inside and that’s it, the watering-cord soaks up the water and the plant gets what it needs from the water in the bottom of the plant pot, therefore bottom-feeding itself through the cord – this is fantastic, such a big fan of this.
I have zero issues with this, the only small hurdle I had to cross was re-potting my plants, because some of their roots where so large, I had really problems getting them out of their pot(s) and into these, but that’s just me, I’m sure other people won’t have the same issue(s) or maybe they will, who knows.
Either way, these are awesome! They’re well made, sturdy, look really cool, do the job they’re designed to do, they’re a good size, fit together really nicely and my plants are getting water as we speak – so I have nothing bad to say about these at all.
100% recommended and it’s a solid 10/10 from me when it comes to these.
This is a great value set of 6 pots, I ordered the 6 inch version, and was delighted with that choice. The pale green colour looks contemporary, and pretty much suits any plant. There is a colour choice, with great also available.
There is a little flex in the pot, but firms up as soon as the liner is inserted. There is rope that you feed through the bottom of the liner, and this dips into the water at the bottom of the pot. This absorbs water, which feeds the plant, which is a neat idea.
This is a well thought out pot set, looks great, is excellent quality and value, and I can recommend!
The way these work is there’s a short ‘rope’ for each pot. You thread that through the bottom of the black internal flower pot, and it operates as a wick drawing up water from the aesthetically pleasing green pot. The soil and plant are in the black one which is held in place by it’s lip, leaving room under it for the wick and the water in the outer pot. The video will explain it better.
My mother, who is the green thumbed one, is keen to try these in her conservatory and hasn’t seen the design before. Anything that reduces the frequency of watering, works and is simple is a real boon for a plant hoarder. I mean, obsessive buyer for more plants than they can contain. Collector? Gardener? 😉
She’s happy, so I’m happy and she thinks they look great. Considering the outer pots are just plastic not ceramic or anything, they do look good. I imagine people wouldn’t even think they were plastic at a distance. It’s not like default brown and black plastic ones (although the inner pot obviously is).
Hopefully this keeps more of her plants healthier with less work and more enjoyment and come spring, or whenever it is that plants get potted, I’m sure she’ll make good use of them. Then immediately buy dozens more plants and give herself too much work to do.
