I’m not a great cook by any means but I do like my steaks medium to medium rare but I’m not confident emough to pull it off on a grill pan. So this device comes in handy and does it for me! So far I’ve had 3 steaks and each one have come out very nice!

I like the way it measures how thick the cut of steak is before cooking it. It then guides you to each stage of done-ness. You can also cook other stuff on it as well like sausages, fish and even panini’s. This is very easy to clean as well, simply pop off the plates and wash them gently or pop them in the dishwasher.

The reason for the 4 stars is simply the electrical cord is just too short! I like to place the unit on the hob so it’s under the hood extractor fan. It barely reaches so I have to place it sideways. It’s a bit awkward to cook like that but you only really need to plonk your food on it and let it do it’s thing.

This new model cooks far quicker than my previous model, which was one of the first editions.
Not sure if it is because of the engineering design on the rear of the cooking plates. Which seam to spread the heat more efficiently.
I would certainly recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI used its previous model for several years but eventually I had to replace it. This new incarnation is great in a number of ways but I really like it shows the estimated time of cooking and counts it down. I found very useful.
Like the previous model, it grills food to perfection!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersNot cheap, but its the rolls royce of ‘George Foreman’ style grills. I bought a 30 GForeman and i liked it, but it was hard to clean and burned everything.
This was 4-5x more but its perfect, no burning, cooks perfectly and if u want it burned u can turn on sear mode to add stronger searing.

You can also just drop the plates in the dish washer.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOverall, I can say I’m happy with it. I’ve been using it for the past couple of days for fish, beef, potato, aubergine, tomatoes, pepper, panini. It’s very easy to use and clean and food is tasty. I was expecting 0 drops while grilling, but depending on what you prepare, you might want to be a bit cautious as it could be slighty messy, but easy to clean on the area where you use it. One disadvantge I have found is linked to the pressure it applies on fish or tomatoes – they end up quite squeezed.
It comes with a booklet of receipes which look very tasty and some indeed are as I had them tested.
I was impressed with the beef program and the picture shows the result for medium which is closer to medium well, but as it has also blue / rare, you can play a bit more until you find what you like. Even if medium well, meat was very juicy and tasty.
After just couple days, I can say I recommend it and hope it will keep surprising me

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice gadge

This purchase was part of an effort to eat healthier and less processed foods. We have had a cheap grill in the past but it really was tricky to get the cooking times right.

We chose the OptGrill Elite because at the time there wasn’t a huge difference between this and the standard. It has a couple more options as well.

Well, it’s been a revelation. Delicious chicken cooked to perfection every time, steaks taken off at “medium” are exactly that! And the sear function gives them the restaurant look and seals in the juices and flavour.

What has been the biggest reason this isn’t a gadget that ends up in the cupboard is the ease of use. We did read the instruction but once you get how it works there really is nothing to it. It heats up and let’s you know when it’s ready to cook and then you pop the meat on there and wait for it to tell you it’s ready.

We are going to experiment more but this and our rice cooker will now be permanent fixtures on the worktop.

5.0 out of 5 stars We are using this for everything!

All is exactly as reported on the internet/video reviews. I have used it with manual and automatic programs: sandwiches (1-2 mins after warm up) are brown and fully melted, fish (seabass from frozen!) is quite nice and not dry, vegetables are also fine (peppers might burn if you like them very soft; aubergine and courgette cook perfectly).

Obviously meat too, when using the automatic sensor I just stop it at the first half of a stage (eg first half of rare if I want it rare) and it is as expected.

I use the automatic thing a lot, it’s a pity the grill is a bit fussy when in that mode. For example you can’t put food while it warms up (in auto)…

Manually achieves everything too, you just need to experiment with the temperature (it’s a big range 140-270 Celsius)

The downside is the time to warm up: it depends on the temperature, but with auto you can’t choose. For example, want up for a sandwich takes 3-4 mins vs cooking it 1-2 mins! Anyway it’s a very limited problem: and, if you use manual, you don’t have any issues.

I still give it 5/5 because the auto sensor performed even better than I thought: I am able to cook anything manually, but I trust the Tefal now, it works!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersSuch an amazing indoor grill. My husband convinced me to buy this because our air fryer broke. Unrelated, I know, but I stumbled upon this and my husband saw it and wouldn’t stop telling me how great this would be. He even said we don’t need a replacement for our air fryer haha.

In all honesty I’m so happy we went for it. So far we’ve made sausages, chicken breast, pork shoulder, bacon, tomatoes, carrots (with the tomato setting) and crispy potatoes. Absolutely fantastic. They all tasted out of this world. Personally I really disliked grilled tomatoes but these were so delicious compared to anything else I’ve tried before. And guess what! Everything came out nice and crispy just like we wanted it.

Some people said the food tastes like it’s been made on a normal bbq grill, however I wouldn’t say so. It tastes delicious but not quite the same. I’m beyond happy with the taste but just wanted to point out that you might think the same as me!

In terms of functionality – it’s super easy to use. The programs are very straightforward and they work really well & they’re quite inclusive too. Some programs have multiple cooking options such as: rare, medium rare, well done & crispy. The display is big enough to see even from a distance. The timer beeping is loud enough to hear from the other room but not too loud to drive you crazy haha. It’s also great at detecting the thickness & calculating the time for cooking. It was always bang on for all the foods mentioned above.

Cleaning – extremely easy to clean. I clean it with warm soapy water and a soft sponge and it doesn’t require scrubbing. The plates pop in and out so easily and you can easily clean them in between dishes with a paper towel. Bonus: you can’t put the grill plates back wrong because they’re not interchangeable. So nice!

Size – it’s not too big and not too small. For what it does I’d say it’s very compact for a kitchen appliance.

Smoke – it does release a bit of “smoke” which is mostly steam. It doesn’t smell bad at all – just smells like food being cooked! And I’d say it’s only steam because of how hot the grill plates are. No need to open windows to let the “smoke” go out at all. Super convenient.

The only thing I wish was a little different is – a longer cable! It’s pretty short in my opinion but not too bad. But it’s not enough take away points from the grill.

Overall extremely great and we’re stoked to have it. And we highly recommend it to anyone!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe functionality, usability and results of the grill I really cannot fault. It cooks everything perfectly, easy to clean, doesn’t cost a fortune to run and it’s simple to use.
However, all this fun comes with some dull draw backs.
First of all, storage. The thing is huge so finding a spot in the cupboard is impossible so it literally lives in the box under the stairs. With that, the power cable is right at the back rather than tucked inside the leg so even if it did fit under the cupboard, you cannot store it upright without creating wear on the cable.
Second, if you are lucky enough to find a space you can stand it upright for storage and don’t mind a bit of wear to the cable. You will have to wedge it between something as there is no lock for the lid so it tilts open.
Thirdly and this is the most annoying. The cable is only able 50cm long so I am really limited as to where I can use it in my kitchen.
My closest socket to reach is under my cupboards above the work tops and this brings me on to my forth and final issue.
The lid doesn’t hold itself open so when you are trying to open it when on a work top, you can’t use two hands to load/unload the grill.
These aren’t mayor things and in no way effect the perfect performance, just some little bitty gritty things which I’m sure will annoy you over time

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis grill is a brilliant piece of kitchen kit, it has its own built in auto menu and also manual mode. In both modes it has a pre heat which you can add to, from frozen and searing, then lets you know when to add food. In auto it then measures the thickness and gives you a cooking time, which if you want can be overridden. In manual mode you set the temperature and the cooking time. It sears while its cooking anyway but if you like dark searing you use the searing touch button in the warming up section of operation. It cooks to perfection and don’t disappoint. It is so easy to clean the grill plates they clip on and off, released at the touch of a button then washed with warm soapy water and a sponge. Even if you don’t cook, this grill is a doddle to use and I would highly recommend it as the results are amazing

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis grill is a nice modern looking grill. I have made a cheese and ham sandwich, I let the sandwich grill to its higher setting, but next time will take it off the grill just before it clicks over to the hottest setting, all the cheese had melted, the bread evenly toasted, I didn’t cover the outside of the bread with butter and was pleased with the crusty result. Next cooked a piece of steak to it’s hottest setting but did not use the searing setting, the steak was nicely marked on both sides and was cooked to my liking, no blood running out of the steak, the steak was really tender. Then I cooked a pork steak, cooked it on the beef setting as there is no actual pork setting, but after reading about the grill, you can cook pork on the sausage setting, again the pork was nicely marked, was well cooked and surprisingly soft. Then cooked some sea bass, cooked it through to the end on the hottest setting, the fish was nicely cooked and was juicy not dry. There is no setting for lamb either, you can either cook lamb on the sausage or beef settings. The two plates are easily removed and really pleased at how effortlessly it is to clean them, the drip tray is solid plastic and cleans up with no effort. This grill will change everything in my kitchen, it has taken out the guess work when cooking meat and fish and I know every time whatever I cook will be cooked perfectly.
