This is an absolute game changer. Got it for my car because it is wired car play only. Works now as though it has wireless car play. Absolutely love this
Fantastic piece of kit. Don’t need to keep my phone on charge all the time. Just plug it in connect to your phone and done. Automatically connects every time. Well impressed
Have been using this for the best part of a month now and am very happy with it. The initial set up was easy, as is following the instructions to carry out a firmware update (when doing this, repeat the process until it says there are no further updates available). Have covered around 1500 miles using it mainly for sat nav, has never failed to connect or had any disconnection issues when in use. Sometimes when switching back to AirPlay from being in the cars system the screen can remain blank for a bit longer than I like, it does come back, or a touch on the touch screen will bring it back quicker – a minor quibble really. For the past week I have been using it connected through a usb extension lead (just so I can place unit out of sight), this doesn’t seem to have affected the performance at all. All in all, if it is what you’re looking for, it does the job well – highly recommended.
Really pleased with this device. It’s a great price and just works. I was up and running in my 2016 Audi within minutes and now every time I get in the car it automatically connects within 5-30 seconds max. I don’t have to press anything or confirm anything, my CarPlay just automatically loads up and works seamlessly whilst my phone stays in my pocket. There’s also no lag or noticeable difference compared to the wired version and I have all the same functionality. I also tried it in my partner’s car and again it immediately connected and worked, you just set the device up with your phone once, you don’t have to set up for each car. So I’ll be using it in hire cars as well! It’s a shame it doesn’t also work with Android Auto for my partner’s phone but it is perfect if like me you just use CarPlay.
Fitted to my VW T6 California and works very well. Been using for a little over a week with no issues at all. Connects very quickly and have not experienced any problems. Appears very well made with alloy casing and glass front. Very compact and tucks away nicely in my application.
First impressions were very favourable. On the outside there were installation instructions. The feel of the adapter was immediately impressive. Glass faced (not plastic) makes the adapter feel quite “chunky” – a good start. An attached lead is USB A – which I used, but there is also a USB C converter adapter.
The wireless adapter is small and unobtrusive and mine is in a compartment next to the input socket. There is also a small double sided adhesive sticker so the adapter could be stuck vertically inside my compartment.
Setup was a breeze – in case you can’t be bothered to read the instructions, these also appear graphically on the touchscreen in the car!
1) pair the “dongle” with Bluetooth
2) select the “dongle” in Wi-Fi settings
3) there wasn’t a Step 3 – thats it!
I don’t turn the car radio unit off when I get out of the car now and keep my phone in my pocket unless I’m on a long journey and it needs charging. As soon as I start the car, the adapter automatically connects – this takes about 10 seconds if the engine has been on previously a short time ago but a bit longer if I’ve been away from the car for a while.
This quick connection time is fantastic – no more messing with a wired connecting lead or ensuring that my iPhone is “awake” – jump in the car and go. For this alone, this adapter is brilliant.
Now for a couple of downsides…. occasionally music playback stops for a fraction of a second, but this is bearable but a bit of a nuisance when you are singing along halfway through a music track.
Secondly, the music playback system “crashed” for some unknown reason on a longer drive of an hour and the car Airplay system shut down and then restarted. This has never happened before when I had the wired system in use but I cannot definitely attribute this to the adapter.
However, it restarted ok again with no other occurrences so far.
One last good thing… I don’t leave my phone behind in the car any longer as Its in my pocket all of the time!
All in all, a great piece of kit.
Great wireless adapter, very easy to set up. It took me less than 20 seconds to get it up and running. It connects quickly and navigates the screens very well. I like the design of the adapter which fits just right in the centre console. It comes with a sticky pad for you to use if required.
Initially I was sceptical, I’ve never had much faith in devices like this especially when it’s trying to replicate an Apple technology and link your phone and car wirelessly.
The wireless CarPlay decide is pretty small. The device arrived neatly packaged with both a USB A and USB C adapter so can fit any car no issues.
Upon plugging in the device it takes around 5 seconds for it to boot up and I was presented on my Ford car play with the CarPlay screen and to allow device, it then shows a menu advising you to plug in the device, pair it via your Bluetooth and then allow via your iPhones settings within Bluetooth. At first it took 2-3 seconds but suddenly I had wireless Apple car play! Something I wished my 2022 Ford had as standard, no more connecting via usb for Waze, google maps, audio books or even replying easily via Siri!
I’ve been using the device for a couple of days now and it’s been working flawlessly. I need to have Bluetooth enabled and when entering my car with my phone in my pocket the device boots up and then like magic Apple car play is available. I wouldn’t say it’s as fast as the wire and there is a little bit more input lag, however this is milliseconds and not something you would notice unless scrolling all the time. This may be something to do with my model car but for navigation, audio and not having to plug your phone in this is a dream.
I’ll post an update once I’ve used it more but for now it’s ticking all the boxes.
The price is such a good price for what it does. It’s small so doesn’t get in the way, it worked as soon as I plugged it in. Very easy to set up and now works as soon as I get in the car , no need to do anything to it either I just leave it and it’ll connect straight away. (I have a seat Arona 2018/19 with Apple car play)
Let me start by being 100% transparent and saying that I was reimbursed for the cost of this in exchange for a thorough test and review. That said, I feel no obligation to provide anything other than my honest experience.
I’m using this in my VW Transporter T6.1 which has built in Apple CarPlay support, but only via wired USB C, which has always been a little frustrating (iPhone 15 Pro). I’d been looking at buying a wireless adapter for quite a while, but was always put off by the poor reviews regarding reliability and quality. So the offer to test this came as a welcome opportunity.
On unboxing, first impressions were very positive. The adapter has a high quality feel, being constructed of metal and glass with a nice braided cable and weighty feel. There’s also a USB-A to C dongle in the box, along with a quick start guide, user manual, warranty card and double-sided sticky mount if you want to secure the adapter to your car (nice touch).
Now on to installation. On initial plug-in I connected my phone via bluetooth to the adapter, but the CarPlay refused to recognise it, so I quickly moved on to the troubleshooting steps in the guide. An update of the firmware seemed to solve the problem and I was soon using CarPlay wirelessly without issues. Hardly any discernable lag and all the usual ‘wired’ functionality worked as expected. But in the following days I was plagued by random disconnects or worse still, failure to connect at all. Usually I could solve this by forgetting the connection and reconnecting. Obviously this was not a long term solution. But I presevered and found that the issue was almost always due to my phone connecting to another Bluetooth device or network. So once I’d disabled the bluetooth on my VW infotainment and my dashcam (which also has wireless connectivity), things seem to have settled down nicely. It now connects reliably and very quickly (in around 10 seconds) and I’m enjoying the full wireless CarPlay experience. I still get the occasional glitchy dropped audio when streaming music, but as I mainly use it for SatNav and not music, that doesn’t bother me too much and I can live with it.
Overall if my experience from the start was the same as now, I’d probably give it 5 stars. But given it was a little fussy on initial setup (asking your average user to connect to an IP address and perform a firmware upgrade) I’ll give it a solid 4 stars.
Fantastic bit of kit, love the quality feel of it, very high end with metal case, more like OEM than third party (a friend has a rival company’s one of these and it is cheap and plasticy, unlike this one !). I have it linked in my VW Transporter which has a Pioneer head unit (not original VW audio) and the Cuarko paired up super easy and now auto connects to my iPhone very quickly when I start the van.
So I have a CarPlay fitted by a friend. I had to use my Apple charging lead to make it work. Today I unplugged my lead and plugged in my new Apple wireless CarPlay adapter and guess what it works.
First I had to pair the CarPlay unit to my phone. Which I had never done before. Then I had to pair the new Apple CarPlay adapter. You have to make sure blue tooth and WiFi is enabled on your phone. Once your paired your good to go. You only have to pair it once. I will keep you all updated in a week or so and let you know if the adapter should drop out. I don’t think it will though. If you register your new CarPlay adapter you extend the warranty for another 12 months how cool is that thanks for reading hope this was helpful
