I ordered this Wonew RGB Video/Camera Light to improve how I look on zoom calls. With 360 Full-Color, and CRI of 95+, it appears to be on a par of many higher priced items at the current on sale-price of 14.99. I can see it also being useful as a selfie light when out and about, or to live stream with, either with a basic at-desk set up or when doing reportage when out an about at events.

Basically, it comes with a strong well built clip that will attach to your phone tablet or laptop, and a cold-shoe attachment to clip onto SLR cameras. It doesn’t flash – it just makes the whole shooting space a brighter and you can adjust colour balance. There are additional cold shoe attachments around its edges, so it appears you could add more than one of these, multiplying the amount of light/space it will fill? or meaning you could use an external flash AND a fill light at the same time.

Once again I find myself marvelling at the quality of entry-level electronics at the price point they are for sale at. This is not a bit of kit for a professional in 2024, of course, but these days movies can be shot on iPhones etc so why not add it something like this? I can totally see a horror movie being shot with a green filter or a spring day being emulated with the bright warm white light.

I do find a down side and that it that it is rechargeable via USB. The charge lasts 2 – 2.5 hours, so there is no issue if you are only doing a 1 hour zoom call, but for anyone steaming gaming or blogging live events that 2 hours is going to pass by quickly. You then have no way to recharge and stream on-the-hoof.

I notice that many similar lights are battery powered and I feel that having spares batteries on-hand would bring peace of mind, and for me, would be preferable. That said, if you’re only filming in short bursts that would not matter – alternatively you could always buy two!

    Great beginner video light.

For the money you really can’t go wrong, it’s has really bright LEDs perfect for doing night videos. The colors are really nice and I’ve had fun playing with different conditions.

    I really like i

This is a great little light that gives you a good range of colours and brightness and several modes of use. I am unsure as to why there are so many ‘shoes’ on it, it is square so turning it isn’t going to get you any more room one way or the other. USB charged, which is always a nice thing, and the charge lasts well.

It has a good strong clip which is padded to help stop any marks being left if you have it clipped to your phone for example. Clear instructions telling you what the 4 modes do and how to access them. I will forget how to use it, so a carry bag for the light that I can put the instructions with would have been helpful.

This light is really handy for filling in when I’m taking stock photos and I can also see it being handy for extra lighting when on a video call for example.

While it does go through the colour range there isn’t a massive range within the colours and no indication what temperature you have so possibly a little tricky to recreate the same colour again.

At the time of ordering it was 19.99 but has now gone up to 25.99 – too many good reviews!

It’s surprising what a little extra light can do for a photo or a video call. Achieving a reasonable colour balance can be a bit of a pain, but this little unit will suffice for basic use. The unit boasts a wide colour adjustment feature and it certainly does have a good range, which is very noticeable when you go from one end of the colour adjustment to the other. The light itself has an adjustable brightness setting through a small dial at the top of the device. In summary, the Wonew RGB Video Light is a powerful and adaptable tool that elevates your visual storytelling, whether you’re a professional photographer or a content creator1.

A pretty decent light that works nicely. It’s bright enough and has even spread of light.
It charges fairly fast too which is nice, and I have used it several times on one charge and it’s still going.
It’s easy to change the colours even though I only use the normal white light.

I have been using it for a week now, to record and also as a lamp for my desk. It’s great as I can change light colors and change it’s brightness.

The 360 full-colour feature is amazing. It offers a wide range of colours to choose from. The light is super bright and adjustable. Whether I’m taking selfies in natural daylight or shooting videos at night, I can easily adjust the brightness and colour temperature to get the excellent lighting every time. I can also use it for video calls, makeup tutorials, vlogs, and even as a desk lamp when I’m working on my laptop. It’s compact and lightweight, so I can easily take it with me wherever I go.

    This is so good.

Straight out of the box it works the way you would want, without even needing to consult the manual – which is perfect for when it’s disappeared inside the camera bag to be pulled out in a few months’ time when I’ve lost the box and instructions.

The light is clear, uniform, strong and does exactly what it says – great bright and coloured lights. The attachment is strong and works well and I can adjust the power and direction easily for balance, temperature and degree.

It seems a little cheaper than some of the alternatives too, so no hesitation in giving this 5 stars – really works well and obviates the need for me to unpack more of my lighting rig for shooting on the go.

Nice size and versatile light , controls are a tad fiddly multi press switch for different functions ,not great for a person who doesn’t read instructions, however basic !
    Usable bright light nicely made.
It seems to have a UV light ,which is quite fun .
For the price a very usable addition to anyone interested in photography.

What a convenient light source for home video use!

The initial white light is super bright, but there are controls to bring it down as far as you want and to adjust the light colour from warm to cold.

There is also the facility for coloured light effect which is awesome!

Good, clear instructions. This turns my camera into a mini studio!

I really like this light. I have used it attached to my Samsung phone, my laptop and my SLR camera and it worked well in all situations. It was particularly useful clipped to the top of the laptop screen, on it’s low light setting, during a live video chat. In previous such chats I have found it difficult to position myself in the room to get sufficient light but this was perfect.

As well as the different cold white and warm white possible variations I have attached photos to give some impression of some the coloured lighting variants. I’m not sure that these images do it justice as there such a number of possible colour settings via the effects (CT/FX) and brightness (DIM) wheels.

The light is also useful as a ‘Fill’ (rather than a flash) when attached to my SLR. The product, I feel, is primary sold as a ‘selfie’ light because the range is obviously limited but it will still illuminate objects/people a couple of metres away (as can be seen by my ‘green room’ photo attached.

The clip is quite strong and I did hesitate to clip it to my phone screen but it hasn’t caused any problem so far. All told, I think this is a very good and well made product which, at the current selling price seems good value.

    Great selfie light for phone.
    Excellent brightness and colours option.
Easy to use. This light is great to make tik tok videos and do selfies.
Its also rechargable with the very long battery life.
Price for it I think is excellent.
So surely I can recommend it to all.

This seems to be aimed mainly at a beginner streaming audience, and to be fair for that its probably fine.

The mount supplied is near useless, as it doesnt go wide enough too clip to a monitor which think was the intention, but if you are attaching it to a camera itll fit into the hot shoe adapter just fine, which works well (and theres additional spaces round the camera body on the sides and top to put accessories into those (though of course no passthroughs for connections)

Battery life is pretty decent, and while I did notice some flicker when adjusting the brightness to certain steps on the warm white light, its not too bad on most of the settings.

It improved my webcam on video calls a lot which is the main use I had for this item.

I’m not sure I would ever use the flashing modes (or why anyone would), but the adjustable colours may come in handy at some point, although i can mainly see me using the white or adjustable temp white light.

This light has a small – 7cm x 7cm – illuminating area along with two controls at the corners. Looking at it from behind as you would when you are using it, the controller on the right controls the level of illumination and the controller on the left has various functions depending upon what mode the light is in.
On the back, there are: on the right, the power button with one long press to turn the light on or off but once it is on, double pressing it changes the mode; on the left a USB C socket so that you can charge the light; and, in the middle four indicator lights which normally let you know what state of charge the battery is in.
The four indicator lights also tell you what mode the light is in. When you switch the unit on to start with, it is in its normal lighting mode where you can use the control on the right to dim/brighten up the light and the control on the left allows you to select the colour temperature although there is no indicator of what the actual colour temperature is on the unit.
Double pressing the power switch the first time turns the light red and the right control still dims/ brightens up the light although the left control doesn’t seem to have a function in this mode. Single-pressing the power button changes the colour and you work your way through a set of preset colours – Red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and magenta before returning to red.
Double pressing the power button again takes you into a near-continuous spectrum where rotating the left control takes you through small steps of hue change from red, through all of the colours and almost back to red.
Double pressing the power button again makes the light flash with the left control dictating the speed – between one cycle every two seconds to what seems to be around five times a second.
Double pressing it again takes it back to a continuous light where you can control the colour temperature.
On the bottom of the unit is a standard quarter inch British Standard Whitworth so that it will fit on just about anything to do with photography and also a cold shoe mount so that it will fit on the few remaining things in photography that don’t use a quarter BSW thread. On the sides and the top are also cold-shoe sockets so that you can attach other things to the light.
You can see in the photographs that there is a peculiar contraption made from 15mm rods where this light is at the far end and shines magenta through a tapered slit and then there is a diffraction grating and then the camera where you can see red and blue lines – the red and blue of the magenta spread out into a spectrum. In effect, this is a spectrum analyser. The two images that follow the photograph of the analyser are from that and show in the first of the two that the white light that it produces is actually fairly good with all of the spectrum represented at a reasonable level therefore colour rendition is quite good. The second of the two is a composite of the magenta and green and shows the three colours that are used to make the RGB colours – red, yellow, green and so on. There, you can see that they are quite pure colours and also that the blue is made up from two bands – a blue and a violet.
My only criticisms of this light are: that you can see from the image on the back that the band with the spectrum on it is just a sticker that hasn’t been stuck on very well and the numbers don’t correspond to anything meaningful – it is just decoration; and, there is a part of a row of LEDs where the red is brighter than it should be. Inconsistencies like this can slightly affect the photography although when the level is turned up full, it is not noticed.
Other than that, this is a very good little unit whether you use it as a primary illumination or use the RGB colours as an additional light source in photography.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good little light source whether it is your primary light or a coloured fill.

This little rgb light is pretty good! It’s pretty bright, and has quite a good diffusion so you don’t get multiple shadows with it. There’s white light modes as well as rgb, though as far as I can tell you can’t mix the two (aka saturation control), unlike more expensive lights.

It charges over usb C, with a cable included. Battery life seems to be good, at a couple of hours, more if you dim it.

The white light range is good too, going from very warm to very cold! Colours feel vibrant, though there’s limited ‘steps’ between the colours which does make it feel less smooth when you’re changing colours and a little less precise. Same thing with dimming, it’s enough control but there’s a big step between minimum brightness and off.

The main downside is it’s not intuitive, it seems to change modes you have to double tap the power button, whereas having a dedicated mode button would be a lot easier. And the whole thing feels quite cheep, it’s not good build quality.

I got this to use with the webcam on my PC for work meetings. Sometimes my room can seem a little bit dark on the webcam. I clip this to my webcam which is fixed on top of my monitor and it really helps boost the lighting on my face which comes across a lot more professional than before.

You can change the colour tone from pure cool white to warm white to any colour you like. I like to use it between cool and warm white.

RGB Selfie Light for Mobile Phone –

A simple to operate clip on selfie light. The first thing to note is unlike lots of electrical products these days. The user manual is well written in plain English, and details the light’s operations brilliantly. The internal battery charges with the included USB-C cable. The battery itself holds a good amount of charge. Adjusting the colour temperature and brightness is simple via two rotary wheels on the sides of the light.
I particularly like how the body of the light also has three cold-shoes. These are prefect for mounting an external microphone for instance.

This selfie light is quite versatile in that it comes with a clip to attach to your ‘phone or tablet, but there’s also the choice to attach it to a small tripod if needs be with a regular camera adaptor.

Equally, colour temperature can be adjusted too via another dial at the top of the device. The dials are a bit plasticky and it remains to be seen how much use they can take before there’s any degradation of their usefulness. There’s a good range of colour adjustment, however I would say that it’s not particularly fine and goes from one end of the light spectrum to the other very quickly when turning the dial. However, for a quick down and dirty solution to a problem, I find this sufficient enough to be worth using as described.

The unit is easily charged by USB and seems to last a while for small projects.

I wouldn’t say there was any value in trying to use this light beyond its intended use for selfie/video calls at close range. I only tried it inside in safe warm dry conditions, I wouldn’t feel confident using it in an outdoor situation.

In short, useful for simple situations and easily carried, but certainly not a professional’s photographer’s go-to device.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick and easy solution for low grade use.

WARNING: The video above contains flashing light (well signposted) for a few seconds.

Slight nit-pick first: the headline claims a CRI of 95+ but the packaging claims >80… Make of that what you will, but, as this isn’t a light aimed at professionals, I’d guess that the user would adjust it to best suit their skin tone.

Otherwise: The video really says it all – poor Aladdin was the star of the show, filmed around 60 cm from the lamp, providing reasonable skin tones and uncomplaining…

The light is switched on by holding the power button for about 2 seconds. A quick double click of the button selects the next mode. (more on that later)
Colour temperature adjustment (left top rotating dial) varies from distinclty yellow/orange to blue tinted, approximating sunlight throughout a Summer day, brightness from 0 to 100% (right dial) gives a reasonable transition.
Second mode is just red light, no change from the left dial, brightness varies from the right.
Third mode is the RGB one – the left dial sequences through the colours, right varies the brightness. the sequence is Red, Green, Blue & Red again, although at the point of switching mixed colours (yellow, purple, pink etc) will be seen. It is not a 16 million colour RGB device, but the available colours are reasonable.
Fourth mode is strobing (flashing) and is adjustable via the left dial from slow to fast – the fastest speed may cause some discomfort for those with photosenstivity issues.

There is a clip, with a cold shoe fitting for the light to attach, provided, aimed for attaching to a phone / tablet / screen.

Personal observation: Given the versatility of modern mobile phones etc. this light may be suitable as a ‘selfie’ key light, light is quite diffused with no obvious hotspots from the LEDs visible, but I think might be better suited as a fill light or backlight, or just using the RGB light for ambiance.

In the 4th mode, strobing, brief presses of the power button will change the effect, cycling through flashing colours, and firelight flickering, emergency service flashing etc. Easily missed from reading the manual.

Tech stuff: I filmed the video above in 4K and downsampled to 1080, the camera was on full manual mode, aperture F4.0, 400 ISO, 1/50 second shutter. Camera (thus light) to subject was approximately 60 cm. The video was under-exposed by 1.3 stops, White balance fixed at 3700K. An unilluminated soft box was used as a stage, with the white internal panels acting to reflect light onto the subject.

This is a decent LED light, that can be used for photos/videos. By no means professional level, but good enough for amateur purposes. It creates enough diffused lights for up close shots and videos. The battery does last over 3 hours, which gives the freedom from the wires. It can be attached to a tripod on three of its sided while the fourth side is the base for the included clip that can be used to attach it to literally anything. Grip is strong and pivot is adjustable.

The menu system is slightly confusing, but it does the job. The materials used are okay, but nothing amazing.

This is a handy little gadget, and loads of fun.
It has a sturdy little holder which can clip onto any surface up to about 20 mm thick. Those also a brass tripod style bush so that you can screw it into existing photographic equipment.
When you first turn on the light, you have two controls to make the image, brighter or dimmer, and change the colour temperature from daylight to bulb (indoor), so that you can shoot indoors or outdoors and get the colour balance just right.
Additional clicks reveal a number of colour filters Like the ones shown on the photographs in my review.
There is also a flashing light setting in which you can set the intensity of the light and the rate of flashing. This flash setting also comes in various colours in addition to the white.
Charging is simple, using a USB C, type cable and socket. Cable is supplied in the package.
It is very small lightweight and easily slips into a pocket so you can carry it with you wherever you go.
It will fit onto the hot shoe of an existing camera, although there are no connections to the camera through the shoe, so it’s what it’s called a cold shoe connection.
It’s exactly the sort of thing that you can take on holiday, or when you visit friends and family, and have a bit of fun taking photographs.
It’s surprisingly powerful and the colours will come through on your images even in bright daylight.
Battery seems to last reasonable length of time, and charging time is pretty quick so no complaints there.
Overall, it’s good fun at a reasonable price.
Great gift for a blogger or someone who likes making films to upload onto the Internet.

I wanted this as I have quite a few online meetings, which I can do do from anywhere, and carting a ring light about is very inconvenient! This does the job perfectly – blue/white light at one end of a dial, all the way through to warm yellow, and a brightness dial on the other side. So easy to use, you actually can’t go wrong! I managed to fit it to the little clip that goes on for your phone and get it up and working within about 30 seconds of getting it out of the box and not looking at the instructions – that’s how straightforward it is. I think it’s a fair price for the quality of product, and I’m really happy with it 🙂

I have used this on a couple of devices now and I have to say I do like this.

Whilst it is not as powerful as my canon flash, I don’t think it is meant to compete with that to be fair.

I do have to say this is super easy to use and clips on most items very easily with the included clip.

It feels very robust and well made, to switch between all the modes that this offers is very easy, and there is quite a few different types on this, all at the press of a button, the power button, how simple is that.

The white light is actually white, but you can soften it if you so like, the colours are also very bright and true to the colour you require.

If you need that little bit of extra lighting for photography, live streaming ,webcam or your podcast then this is a very good solid choice.

    I can recommend this.
