his is a very good quality item all of the black covering for me was metal and made if feel much more durable and luxury.Furthermore it can also be used as a music player as well as the advertised voice recorder.
i would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an mp3 player or voice recorder or possibly both.
An easy to use product on the go. I often get useful ideas when I am out on my morning walk and I would often forget them by the time I got home as it was not practical to take notes . I now simply record my thoughts on the recorder and play them back once I get home a definite game change
Other reviewers had already said it about this little device. So without going on too much..
Small, solidly built, impressive audio quality, plenty of options, can read files using computer, documentation poor, menu system is a voyage of discovery but works when you get used to it, power button a bit weak, voice activation works well, loads of storage, battery lasts.
Excellent value for money.
Note there is a better manual for the L157 version on the Evistr website, that many throw some light on some of the features described in the supplied manual.
Right… Let’s start that I’m someone that used alot of very expensive recorders like Zoom,Tascam,Sony and others…
This recorder at 10 times less price gives you a great Audio and so many options.
You can record MP3 or Wav,you can choose your bitrate. Has some mics on board and a speaker.
I paired it with a lavalier and a shotgun mic and the sound quality is just awesome, not saying that it’s own mics are not good but depending your usage.
The battery seems to last forever, only charged it once and that’s it. Don’t worry about the battery. Yes it has “only” 64gb non expanded storage but in audio world that’s like 1 day of recording so no worries.
Again… for the price this is second to none ! Not only all above, you can also choose your gain level from 1 to 6…
BTW the body is a heavy nice metal !
The only thing I can down vote would the power button,it feels cheap and if you’re not careful it might break but all other buttons are nice, solid
Just buy it,trust me you will be surprised . Sometimes cheaper things are great!
It is small but sits in the hand a bit like an ingot.
It feels solid & heavy for its size.
It is easy to use for its basic use, power on & press the record button.
As others have said the menus are a bit of a puzzle
but a bit of practice is what is required,
the written instructions are a bit unclear,
it looks like they were translated.
The device itself has many language options.
The volume indication is a bit odd,
it reminds me of Spinal Tap,
“Our amps go up to 11 but this goes up to 31!”
I am still experimenting with the Voice Activation,
as it seems to switch on & off a bit randomly,
there is a slight click between the segments it records
& you realise there are gaps in the vocals where bits got skipped.
But I’ll see how it goes in the different situations
& play with the settings.
I wouldn’t use VOR for a meeting or lecture.
It is best to set it to normal & push the record button.
Maybe you can edit the dead bits out later?
It is said to pick up from 60 feet away,
I think that might be true as it could hear me go downstairs & lock the front door!
It has a timer & also you can record blocks of half an hour or an hour.
Then it automatically stops.
But having set it to 30 minute blocks,
it does keep recording as soon as one block finishes,
it immediately starts a new block.
Pick up of close-up sounds can be very harsh & loud though.
I have turned the gain level down to level 4 instead of at level 7.
I think the recording would be improved by an external microphone.
I put two Oasis albums on it & it plays them back fairly loud.
I use it in MP3 only, I have had problems with WAV files in the past.
This is a 64GB version but this is actually 58GB.
It is about 20 hours of recording.
More to follow.
Does the job well but the sound is a bit quiet. It is clear but quite quiet, we have used wireless microphones and the quantity is superb with the mics.
Although it’s a bit tricky to figure out how it works, once you get it this is an excellent little device for recording interviews. It’s small and compact and has a good quality playback.
