If you are looking for a good controller for Steam, look no further! Hall Effect sticks mean no stick drift, 2.4 ghz connection means very stable and low input latency, and the button config is the default for most PC games (most PC games are Xbox button prompts by default)!
The most important for me is that connected to the pc is so easy, you simply take it off the charging dock and it connects automatically, then put it back on the dock to disconnect.
My only complaint is that the form factor is a little small, and not quite as comfortable as the Xbox or PS5 controllers. I would give comfortability an 8/10, everything is a 10/10 though.
Overall, the best controller I’ve ever used for PC
If you’re looking for a great controller for Steamdeck, this is the one. I only wish I could figure out how to wake up the Steamdeck with this controller.
It feels great in the hands. I will say the texture on the backside does allow for grabbing onto dirt and oils a little more than I’d like though
great controller i like the plastic they use and the color is cute. the charging dock is very convenient and easy to use! however, within the first week of use, the left trigger started to feel… idk like kinda sticky? hard to explain but it wasn’t buttery smooth like the one on the right… but that doesn’t detract from the quality you should expect from this controller, I’m sure it’s an anomaly. good safe purchase just kinda lame that the trigger feels weird so early into use. i got the hall effect joysticks and they feel awesome btw
This is my second 8bitdo controller.
I have this 2.4g with hall joysticks along with the ultimate with gyro.
Excellent build quality and accuracy in games.
Range is great and compatible with all of my steam library.
I may buy a few more so everyone in the family has their own!
Good controller. The pink one is very pale, much more than what the advertising makes it looks like, however that’s up to personal preferences, so aside from that it’s a good product overall. I love that it comes with its dock.
Got for my steamdeck, I’m loving the cute pink color along with the dock it comes with for you to easily just set it on and it begins charging. It hasn’t ran out of power on me during 8+ hour gameplay sessions so it must have really good battery life.
It does register as an Xbox controller when it’s on the deck, and I do wish the buttons could come in pink too the same way it does for the Nintendo style— but definitely still a favorite purchase! Well worth the price.
This controller is about the size of those nano ones that are coming out now. My only cons are really for upgrading the software of the controller and the ultimate app. If you don’t let it charge before use (solid white means charging) it’ll seem like it doesn’t work. The left stick won’t push all the way in a direction in-game (despite doing so on calibration software on your system or the controller software itself).
Also, the software for the controller that you download from the 8bitdo official website might look suspicious to Windows so keep that in mind. I might update if things change.
