This is a self-assembly fake, with the handle in four sections. You are provided with some bolts with locking nuts, a small spanner, and a hex key to put it all together. I had it assembled in just a few minutes and was quickly out in the garden, clearing up the moss.
I really like the following features:
The handle allows the rake to be disassembled for storage. This was my big concern at first sight: that the handle would either be too wobbly in use or that the segments would lock together and make it difficult to take apart. I need not have worried, as the handle stayed together in use and allowed me to break the rake into two sections for easy storage.
The rake head is braced to be sturdy, despite the metal being relatively thick. The rake is also quite wide and makes lighter work of the job than my existing rake, which is narrower. The pointed tines are really good for getting the rake right through the grass.
The following I didn’t like so much:
The rake tines are not that even in a few places, and I would prefer the tines to be level so that the rake collects evenly from the grass surface.
The rake was quite efficient and really did dig deep when grooming a particularly troublesome patch of grass. After running the rake over it a few times in each direction, it removed all the moss, leaving the grass behind. I do have an electric lawn rake, but you can’t get it into certain areas, which is where this rake comes in, and it performs better than my existing garden rake. I really liked this rake despite my initial reservations, and it’s well worth 5 stars.
