This is an amazing back and body shaver. I have used this a few times now and the design is brilliant, really gets everywhere and leaves my skin incredibly smooth.
The handle is sturdy and locks into place, the blades have a comb just above that helps glide the razor over your back.
The only negative and not a fault of the razor. I have sensitive skin, so the first time I used it dry and did leave razor rash. Since then I use a bit of shaving cream and warm the blades in hot water and works perfectly for me.
I wouldn’t look any where else for a back razor, this really is the best on the market.
I was very sceptical cause of the price and similar purchases in the past but this was the easiest and best results I’ve had outside of waxing. I’ve tried laser hair removal and that didn’t work. Waxing is alright but pricey and getting a schedule is a pain. So this is a great alternative for me.
I used it for a dry shave to see how it was and it worked perfectly. I had a few issues with the shoulder blades and shoulder joints as I’m quite boney, but I was careful around those areas and not even a nick.
Incredibly happy with my purchase
I’ve been looking for a solution for a while so I didn’t have to keep asking for my partners help to shave my back. This was one of those 3am purchases and it’s probably the best one I have made. I use the bakblade every couple days. I’ve had the unit for 3 months and I’ve just changed the blades for the first time. It’s easy to use and has a very sturdy feel. The blades are nice and wide so it takes a couple minutes compared to a disposable razor which took half an hour and a lot of contortion. The blades are super sharp so one pass is enough. It also comes with a little cleaning brush which is essential and a suction bracket for the wall. You can get a 12 pack replacement blades for around 30 which would last a long time depending on your hair type. Overall brilliant product!
My gf does not like excess hair, so I’ve been searching for something that gives me the convenience of back hair removal without having to book an appointment for a waxing.
This BakBlade 2.0 is outstanding, easy to use, no discomfort, no dramas, and my back is super smooth.
Highly recommend.
Regular razors didn’t seem to work very well for my partner so I got him this. Managed to get the hair off his back on his own and it came clean off without any scratches etc. few little hairs left but this tool seems to work much better than anything else and he’s rather happy with i
This thing actually works finally someone has got a good idea and put into production and it work perfectly.
I was seriously sceptical about forking out so much money for a manual shaver but it’s worth every penny and works perfectly.
Would definitely recommend to people with gorilla type back hair. Well worth the money
just got this today and used it all over my body ,back ,legs ,chest, arms. Not one single nick or cut,the trick is to use light pressure and let the razor do the work, never had such a smooth body, well impressed.A little tricky getting it to the right angle on the back but with a bit of practice it gets the job done.
This is honestly one the best grooming tools I have purchased. I’m Persian/South Asian, so that gives you a good idea as to how hairy our backs are lol.
Very easy to use out the box and the shaving process was close to being therapeutic. No nasty cuts or tugs on the hairs (which are pretty thick and long). The blades have built in combs and are easy to clean (they throw in a few extra blades) and the long curved handle makes this ergonomic.
What I can say can be improved for the next version (if they make one), is to make the blades wider to shorten the time it takes to shave and also to make the shaving head move about so it’s easy to shave on the contours of your back. Theae improvements would make this product absolutely perfect even though it’s close to perfection the way it is.
Highly recommend.
Great product. Very easy to operate. I think some of the negative reviewers here may have been applying too much pressure, as I didn’t have any issues with cuts or scratches. There is no need to apply any pressure at all – just run it lightly over the skin and let the blades do the work. It does say in the instructions that it is designed to work with minimal pressure. I used it dry and showered afterwards.
I was a bit concerned that it would be too short – I’m quite tall at 6’7″ – but I found it long enough for me. It would probably be a bit cumbersome if it was much longer. I’m not sure how long the blades will last but from what I’ve seen of other user reviews they last quite a while, so hopefully that will turn out to be accurate.
I’m very impressed with the Bakblade 2.0 plus and would certainly recommend it if you’re looking for a DIY back hair removal solution. It comes with a spare set of blades, a useful suction cup storage hanger and a cleaning brush, and also folds in half so it will be easy to pack for travelling.
It also has the unexpected bonus of being a very effective back scratcher!
** TWO MONTH UPDATE **
I felt I should update my review now I’ve lived with the BakBlade 2.0 plus for a while. I am deducting 2 stars from my original rating to take account of the fact that the blades do not last very long. They are good for one or two shaves but after that they no longer provide a close shave and need replacing. I have used the shaver wet and dry.
I will say that removing the blades after each use and cleaning them with the brush provided does seem help, and also I think the life of the blades may depend on the thickness of your back hair. The hair on my lower back is fairly light, so the blades seem to be able to deal with it for multiple shaves, but the hairs on my upper back are very thick and the blades can’t cope with it after one shave. Also, I have still not had any issues with cuts and scratches, so I definitely think it’s a technique issue if you’re experiencing that.
I have just ordered 12 replacement blades at a cost of 40 and will see how long they last. It may just be an issue with the blades that came with the shaver.
I was apprehensive about using this shaving system but my hairy back demanded attention and I was so tired of waxing that caused me excessive irritation and meant I had to stay out of the sun for a couple of days afterwards. Anyway, I unfolded this device and soaped my back. A few scrapes later and I detected hairs on the blades – success! A ‘feel’ on my back revealed to my touch that all was smooth and, for a first attempt, it was a great relief. Previously I had been stretching my arm to reach bits of my back with my regular razor: not sensible. This is a game-changing shaver and I love it with its first use. Now I need to see how long it is before I use it again: a matter of days as I grow hair like some people change underwear…
I am surprised by how effective this bakblade is. It is almost perfect but lacks a few essential things which I will address bellow. First of all I am very hairy and have hair on my entire back so being able to shave myself smooth is in it self surprising.
The handle is a tad bit short. I can’t reach my spine effectively without bending in ways I did not know were possible. It should have been 6-10 cm longer. Additionally, the handle only locks in at its furthest position sometimes I need to angle the handle differently but since it doesn’t lock in the handle opens easily up when only opened half way and I start shaving. They should revise the lock in mechanism to lock the handle in multiple angles.
Moreover, I feel like the head should be able to swivel some degrees back and forth to follow the contours of my back. I sometimes end up only using one of the three blades since the angle at which is rest on my back is not perfect. This defeats the aspect of having three blades on there at the first place.
Finally, my biggest gripe. It seems as if the replacement blades are not the same as the original blades and don’t last as long. With the price they ask for the replacement blades and their shady quality it may just be easier to pay for back waxing…. 23Gbp and 6-7 gbp for delivery of what essentially is two sets of blades that last UP TO 2 shaves each and a high risk of injuring yourself? A maximum of 4 back shaves for a price of 29-30 GBP? Expensive if you ask me.
Was a bit sceptical with reading some of the poor reviews but its brilliant. Does exactly what it says and does a great job on a very hairy back in no time. No gels or foam needed. Yes you do have to angle it correctly in some awkward places but you do with a razor on your face, so its no different. Got my back very smooth. There was the odd nick but nothing to bother about, it is an awkward place to do at the end of the day. Came with 3 spare blades. It is very sharp. I would have given it 5 stars had it not come with the bac jacket and wall mount. Those are just a waste of money and will never get used. That money could have been used for another set of blades. Who wants to hang that on a wall. It goes in the drawer until next time. I’ve taken the jacket right off or it would just be covered in hairs and a nuisance. Just a gimmick which probably cost quite a bit to make with the zip and fastener.
Other than that its brilliant, I should have bought one years ago and it really deserves 5 stars for its performance and design. Well worth the money.
OH WOW!
So I never write reviews …… blah, blah yeah we’ve heard it all before but truly I don’t.
I literally got my monkey, bak-shaving thingy today. I was going to wait but I NEEDED to see how this bad boy works.
Yeah, I have a hairy back. A hairy front, hairy shoulders and a (fortunately) hairy beard. Did my hairy back bother me? Yeah! I can admit it. I’d never take my top off, was ashamed and in truth, it dented my confidence. Especially when I managed to lure a cave girl back to the den. I’ve tried creams, stinky and rubbish. I’ve tried standard razors …… stubbly and actually worse than a hairy back imo.
So this. This! I was hoping would be my salvation and it didn’t disappoint. I literally just went to town on my back. Gently, mind you and THAT is key. I thought “how could this possibly work, dry” but oh my. Yeah, I had to go back and forth a few times whilst I got used to it but …… WOW! Seriously! Wow!
What I am most shocked about and truly chuffed is the fact that my back is SMOOOOOTH! I keep stroking it now *checks again* in a really gentle, almost borderline lover-like fashion and YES! Smooth as a ….. well, something seriously smooth.
Have a hairy back? Tired of stinky flamin’ creams, naff razors, uncomfortable chats at the female dominated salons and crappy confidence ….. BUY THIS!
I’m so glad I did.
……. strokes back again to feel smoothness ……. mmmmmmm
NOTE
I see a lot of feedback about cuts and I have to say, be gentle. Let the Bakblade to all the work and let it glide across your skin with almost zero pressure or effort.
I don’t think the blades will last many shaves but happy to keep buying replacements for such a wonderful job well done.
Also, it took minutes. No faff either. Shave, shower, smoooooth.
I hope you all enjoy new found back smoothness.
Excellent job, Bakbladers.
