I thought I would treat myself to a new keyboard having been using the same one for the past 10+ years, I opted for the Corsair K65 Plus Wireless 75% keyboard, and I have to say, it has exceeded my expectations!
First off, the design is sleek and compact, which is perfect for my desk setup. I love that it’s 75% layout; it saves space without sacrificing functionality. The build quality feels solid, and the keycaps have a nice texture that’s comfortable to type on.
The wireless feature is a game-changer! I was a bit worried about latency, but I’ve had zero issues—no lag at all. I can move my keyboard around freely, and it still feels responsive. Plus, the battery life is impressive; I can go days without needing to charge it, even with the RGB lighting on.
Speaking of RGB, the lighting effects are stunning! There are so many customization options through the Corsair iCUE software. I love being able to sync the colours with my other Corsair devices, and the effects really bring my gaming setup to life.
Whether I’m typing up a report or getting into a heated gaming session, this keyboard performs wonderfully. The Cherry MX switches (I went with red) feel great—smooth and clicky with just the right amount of resistance. My typing speed has actually improved since switching to this keyboard!
I can’t recommend the Corsair K65 Plus enough. It’s stylish, functional, and just feels great to use. If you’re looking for a compact wireless keyboard that doesn’t compromise on performance, this is definitely the one to go for!
Going from a full size to this was a minor learning curve but it looks great
and I have free space on my desk, it’s got some weight to it and feels well built.
Bought this keyboard after using a larger cheaper which was too big.
Firstly Pro’s –
Keys are very satisfying and typing is quick for myself. Took a little getting used to however I enjoy the feel.
Key board is obviously high quality, plenty of weigh, good ergonomics. Even things like the charging cable is good.
ICUE (Corsair Software) is great. Change colour, shortcuts… Everything you want it has.
Cons – This is likely me being picky.
The lights in the keyboard aren’t too bright – My other keyboard which was cheaper had very bright lights.
(Now granted this is a wireless keyboard so maybe that is the reason for dimmer lights but would be cool to have an option to brighter lights)
If im being extremely picky then maybe the battery life could be a bit better (Lights go off once key board is low on battery, meaning 50% of the time I dont have the lighting).
However in summary – I paid 114 for this keyboard. Is it worth it?
If you want a smaller wireless keyboard which is obviously made well with good customisability then this is a great keyboard.
All in all good job Corsair, happy customer.
Honestly, the only issue I have, is the non shine through keys, but i understand their reasoning for going with these. So it’s a preference thing, and a choice you have to make based on your enthusiasm for keyboards.
Wish it had Hall effect, it would be a monster of a board if it did. I paid 100 for this in the prime day sale. So worth every penny. Although I did just review a rapid trigger board, and it’s left me wanting.
Keyboard sounds and feels lovely – despite it’s plastic build it feels very sturdy. Battery is very good on it even with LEDs at peak brightness. The icue software can be annoying at times but this is no fault of the keyboard. I’ve had no problems with it disconnecting whilst in wireless mode which is a massive breath of fresh air coming from razer keyboards
There are so many good points and so few bad that I’ll start with the bad:
-I bought this at 109.99. The current price of 164.94 is funny. It would not feel good at all to pay an extra 55 for this board! Especially since,
-The keycaps are not translucent. A new set costs around 20 on amazon.
(I swapped 98% of the keys with my old razer blackwidow 2014, the difference is insane especially with the softwares ability to use the lights on your keyboard react to music. The lights are brilliant and can be turned down, but they look great.)
-Battery life advertised is for bluetooth wireless. Its alright and you can still have fun in games, but it might cost you. Bluetooth is about 125hz polling rate (button response time to pc). the 2.4ghz dongle is what makes it a gaming keyboard but the battery life will go right down from a full charge after about 2 days with lights and 3 days without.
-The comma button has stopped working unless I am running iCue software on the pc. I’ve tried resetting and other fixes but its an issue. I don’t care about running iCue so it’s not a problem for me to bother returning it.
+Feel of board is strong (plastic but I like it as it’s lighter for using wirelessly on thighs).
+Typing good
+Lights good
+Very good layout
Its the best 75% keyboard just overpriced and let down by no translucent keycaps, minor bugs. The battery life remains neutral I think it’s great just would prefer not to charge so often.
I own a K70, which is magnetic-mechanical, and I like this one better.
The feel of the keys is very good, and they are well dampened.
Also, the rows are at slightly different height, making it easy to find keys without looking, once you get used to it.
One thing which should be notices is that the leds of the keys shine under them, rather than through them. The keys are completely opaque.
Normally I like that better, however, if you like to use it in complete darkness it might be a bit of an issue, because it is hard to tell the keys apart that way.
The fn functionality is well implemented. Pressing it will only switch off the leds on the keys not associated with shortcuts, making it easy to find the right key.
Also, Fn plus arrows allows to change the functionality of the roller to zoom, scrolling, adjusting brightness or the standard volume control. It is nice to have that flexibility.
Perhaps I would have liked some dedicated macro buttons, but the ICUE software can do a lot (including changing the roller function even further) and it runs well on both Mac and Windows.
There are obviously a mental amount of led animations, which personally I probably do not need, but if you want them they are there.
The polling rate is 1K max. Surely it is enough for me, but I read that competitive gamers like it to be even higher.
The build is extremely good (it does weight a bit) with no flex whatsoever.
I find it a great option for both gaming and productivity (coding, music and video editing, the roller is quite useful for that).
For a 75% keyboard, it is very ergonomic, even if it lacks a wrist rest, and I like that it has dedicated home, pgup and pgdown keys.
Was really looking forward to this keyboard but it was a major disappointment. Contrary to the pictures of it on the product page, the majority of the keycap legends are off centre. Makes for a very disjointed look. Also, you only get a handful of lighting effects in wireless mode compared to wired. Another thing i couldn’t stand is that the switches ping even with the dampening in the board.
Anyway, am returning for a refund.
Update – 17/4/24.
So i decided to purchase the keyboard again and am happy to report that the new one does not have the issues the first one i bought had. All the legends are centered and there is no spring ping from the switches.
There must have been a problem with the early batches of the keyboard. Am very happy with it now.
…is the easiest way to describe this Keyboard. It’s a 75% Board and has the lot, WiFi, Bluetooth, Hot-Swappable Keys, Windows or Mac at the flick of a switch and more.
It weighs almost a Kilogram and has a Premier feel about it, with two position feet and a superb Key action it’s hard to fault.
The case is made of a rather snazzy hard plastic and inside has two layers of sound dampening, one of Foam and the other of Silicone. If you don’t like the feel of the Keys you can buy another set of your choice to swap in…no problem.
It’s a real Gamers Keyboard with RGB LED Lights in wavering Colours running across the Keys.
Priced currently at 150 it’s not exactly the cheapest on the market, there again it’s not the most expensive either and with the name of Corsair behind it you really can’t go wrong.
If you can run to it buy it, I recommend it at the highest level a great Keyboard.
I recently acquired CORSAIR mechanical keyboard for my son. It arrived well-packaged in a well-branded box.
In the box: You will receive a keyboard, USB Cable Keycap Puller and a user manual– everything neatly organized.
Now, onto the keyboard itself — my son is over the moon about it. He says it’s one of the best he’s ever had, and I can see why. The keys are tactile and super responsive, It has pre-lubed Red Switches. Plus, the CORSAIR MLX Red Switches add a whole new level of smoothness to typing and gaming. A very satisfying switch sound!
One thing that really impressed us is the range of connection options, such as low-latency 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, USB wired.
Moreover, battery life is another big plus. The keyboard can last up to hours on a single charge — that’s impressive! And even with RGB off, it still holds up well.
Furthermore, the multi-function dial and FN shortcuts are brilliant. They make controlling media and apps a breeze, and my son loves how customizable they are.
Lastly, the sturdy PBT keycaps are a nice touch.
Overall, we’re thrilled with the quality and functionality of this keyboard. It’s robust, packed with features, and just plain awesome. Definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a new keyboard!
Corsair is a very good brand with high quality products. This is a new release from them. Perfect for gamers, this can connect via Bluetooth, so saving some space with wires if you have a ton of peripherals. It looks great and has a long battery life, even longer if you switch off the RGB. Heavy enough to stay put even if you get a bit frustrated! With good quality keys with a nice metallic look and a soft enough texture that they’re comfortable to use. They’re not too noisy either. Worth a shot if you’re in the market for a new gaming keyboard for sure.
