I own the Nitro Deck Plus, but the original is superior. The offset sticks on this one are much better for Nintendo games, as most of them require a lot of button input, so I don’t have to constantly bend my thumb down to input. I’m sure if I was playing a shooter or driving game I’d prefer it the other way – but I don’t play Nintendo for those genres. I also love the rarity system they have built into the app, it makes all their stuff collectible. It’s a very high quality unit, holding it in your hands makes you feel lordly, as if it’s a device designed for royalty. Especially with that exotic red coloring. It takes me back to the early 2000’s with that see through body, perfectly retro, so when I’m not using it, I can add it in my gaming display.
I love this deck, and I plan to keep it well after the switch is discontinued and it becomes a collectors item. It will forever be my go to accessory.
Best price.Proper packaging.Arrived less than a week.Very nice.Quality build & function is great.Love it.Bought 2 different colours already.Make your switch like a steam deck.Happy with product & service of seller.Highly recommended for all switch owners.
So I’ll admit I waited until these were on sale to get one and I’m sad I did since this product is worth every penny for folks with big hands who have to play in handheld mode a lot. I have the switch Oled and the console slides in very easily, and there is a switch on the rear you need to press to get it out. I have tried other joy con attachments but this beats them all! There is a nice heft to the ckrd that isn’t too much weight and on the rear of the console is 4 mappable buttons that are very convenient. The case is sturdy and comes with a very nice USB C, for different thumbsticks with different patterns which are very easily changed, and of course the guide to help you set everything to your preference (I had to turn down the rumble feature a tad). What surprised me was that you would think this would drain the switch’s battery but it really doesn’t make a difference, even so on the rear are two USB C ports (an input for charging or another wired controller, and an output to use the attachment as it’s own wired controller when the switch is docked) I love the retro GameCube design as well. Finally, some people may enjoy the fact that you can connect this go an app and see how “rare” your attachment is by getting the exact product #, manufacturing date, etc. Also you can connect to your pc to get firmware updates when CKRD makes changes and little bug fixes. Overall this has made my gameplay much more comfortable and I will buy another when the Switch 2 comes out if it is not compatible.
I bought this product for my Mario red Nintendo Switch oled console!, there are reviews that say this doesn’t work with some switch oled consoles but it works fine with mine!. When you put your switch into this it will recognise it but it won’t work until you go to the settings & turn on pro controller wired communication, so do this first before you put your switch into the nitro deck go to system settings, controllers & sensors then scroll down to pro controller wired communication & turn it on then put your switch into the nitro deck & it will work. As for people saying the buttons are noisy & loud well I don’t think they are not compared to the kk slider wireless controller the buttons on that are loud!, the nitro deck looks good, feels good to hold, the triggers are so much better on this 1 so smooth it’s comfortable to use too works well & you can charge your switch while playing as it has 2 usb c ports on the back at the top. The carry case it comes with is great quality & perfect for storing the nitro deck to keep it safe & suitable for use when travelling too, you do need to use the case that came with the nitro deck though as it doesn’t fit in any other case but it has a detachable shoulder strap you can use or a carry handle, it even comes with a spare set of stick tops so you can swap them or you can buy a new set to change them if you want to. People said the battery isn’t good but this uses the battery on your switch to power it & so far I’ve found the battery doesn’t run out as fast as people are saying, it comes with a usb c cable to charge it which you can use with a power bank if you’re travelling, the best power bank to use is the anker power bank for Nintendo Switch I have this power bank & it’s great perfect for charging your switch while travelling. The carry case has storage for 8 games & a pouch in the top to store the cleaning cloth that comes with it & the usb c cable fits in there too!. The nitro deck has 5 air vents either side on the back so it doesn’t overheat & it does have a stand too on the back, the stand is nice & sturdy & you can actually use it. I think this nitro deck is well worth the money but if you buy it & don’t like it you can always send it back, I’ve used it for hours & never had any issues with my wrists or hands & it’s not too heavy either for me it’s perfect. It comes in different colours too I went for the crystal pink colour & I love it, it does come with silicone covers for the stick tops or you can buy your own but the Nintendo Switch stick covers do NOT fit the nitro deck you need to buy either the ones for the nitro deck or xbox or ps5 thumb stick covers if you don’t like the ones it comes with.
Firstly, the boxing of the nitro deck is pretty fancy. Looks great, all the bells and whistles with sleek designs and good amounts of protection for transit. Made the product feel really special when opening.
To use, I really really like it. It feels chunky and substantial in the hands, something that I think is missing in modern gaming. The colour is vibrant and the buttons and motion sticks are well made and robust. I like the addition of a stand and the option to use the deck as a dock for playing on the tv- meaning you don’t have to faff taking your switch out to play on the big screen.
My only issue, and reason for the 4 star review is the vibration function. It’s loud. It’s super loud. I often play switch while watching tv or listening to music and the vibration is so loud I’ve had to physically turn the feature off, which is a real shame since it’s actually a really good rumble effect.
All in all, probably a little over priced but I don’t feel any resentment paying what I did for a great bit of kit that looks the part.
I rarely play my Nintendo Switch now a days, been too busy with course work and just general life stuff, but, ever since I got this controller for my Nintendo Switch I’ve been playing portably non-stop, which I don’t normally do.
I found the controller rather comfy to hold, the D-Pad is good for what it is and the analog sticks work great!
Playing through Mario Odyssey with the Nitro Deck was much better than with the official Pro Controller from Nintendo.
I highly recommend this, even for the bag and the added goods alone, also the GameCube colour scheme was really nice, gave me some nostalgia
Solo puedo decir: OMG.
Biggest downfall is the rumble motors that are pretty tinny and jarringly loud.
Overall the quality is decent, the plastic quality does leave something to be desired. Buttons and sticks are nice and the macros are pretty cool. Having charging capabilities at top rear of the grip is great. Comes with a durable case. Would look into the upcoming the Nitro Deck+ if you’re looking for HDMI output as well.
The item is great and it has a great color as well, Just to let you know guys that i ordered Nitro Deck in 4 colors, 4 of it’s variant arrived in great condition so i can still display their box for my collection. This is one of the colors that i love.
This is almost an excellent product, but a few quirks set it back.
First issue I have is ergonomics. While using the left joy and the face buttons are fine, in games that use the right analog and dpad causes cramping after a few minutes. Not a huge deal as it is present on the Joycons too, but why not improve on the ergo if you have obvious faults of the joycon right in front of you?
Second issue and this is a mild one is the rumble. The rumble isn’t overly loud, but it feels cheap. Hd rumble has finer control. Tiny rumble – pounding rumble. The Nitro has different settings for rumble, but each setting has just one strength instead of finer strength control like HD rumble.
I can live with these two issues. They are not deal breakers since the rest of the product is excellent.
Plastic quality is nice. No issues with molding and it has a matte texture to it. The rear grips have a micro dot pattern for even more grip. This grip is put together well.
Buttons are great overall. Joys are hall and have little resistance. I don’t mind resistance or low resistance. it only takes a few minutes to get use to. The Joy sticks are smooth and they do not grind against the housing. Face buttons are decent. medium travel and medium click sound. They are not mushy. DPAD is decent, but you can get miss clicks since the DPAD is of the looser variety. It’s not bad though and I would label it average. I like the triggers. They are analog, but you can set the click depth. They are perfect and super smooth and quiet. The shoulder buttons are easy to press and are click. The rear buttons can be disabled. I don’t use them. They overall control quality is great.
Programing and settings are nice. You change stick dead zone, rumble intensity, disable buttons, switch for wire to wireless and more. This controller is feature rich.
Charging is good. I like that the charging port is moved from the bottom to the top back. Pass through charging works fine. This is will save wear on your OEM charge port.
In summary, this is a great overall controller grip. The only thing that made this 4 instead of 5 star is the ergonomics on the bottom controls. I love the look and quality, and I like that the console is protected along with the charge port. I will use this along with other controllers moving forward, with this being my main controller.
I was hesitant to buy this based on some of the common complaints in the reviews, but glad I did. I definitely see how the right stick placement could be problematic for smaller hands, but luckily I was fine.
The rumble is a little much, but they just released a firmware update that allows you to adjust the level, or turn off rumble completely. The update also lets you turn off the thumb stick dead zones, although I didn’t see a problem with the default setting.
My only complaints:
– I don’t love the removal process, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy
– Another review mentioned it, and I agree, the tension on the thumbsticks are very low
Minor complaints though. Overall, great device. Makes handheld play much more enjoyable with how sturdy it makes the Switch feel.
