I really like this paint kit, it is good quality as you’d expect from this brand and I really like the little water brush tool, it is very easy to use and great for taking on trips. There’s a good selection of colours for the convenient size and the colours are ready to mix and blend so you don’t need a ton of you have good colour theory. Overall pleased with the value of this ki
Absolutely delightful travel painting set. This is so small and easy to pack away. It’s great for travel and painting on the go. My only gripes are that the paint blocks are loose and will move around especially if in a bag so you may get stray chips everywhere. A tissue over them helps. Also they are described as half pans and I’m not sure how easy it is to get refills. I’m not familiar with Derwent watercolours as I prefer to paint with acrylics but I have been keen to try watercolours when travelling. It appears to me that refills might be full pans, so not sure how these can be refilled. The set is overall very good quality and includes everything you need to get started. The colours included are really vibrant and a great choice for a kit like this.
I’m impressed with this set overall, despite my minor gripes. And I think it offers good value for money too.
I have been using Derwent Watercolour Paints and found them to be quite good with a smooth finish, ideal for both beginners and experts. The set includes 12 vibrant colours: Lemon Cadmium, Orange, Poppy Red, Dark Violet, Ultramarine, Spectrum Blue, Bottle Green, Grass Green, Copper Beech, Payne’s Grey, Ivory Black, and White. They blend beautifully and prevent uneven results, making painting a pleasant experience.
The formula is easy to use and affordable, making it great for beginners. The set comes with a mini waterbrush and mixing trays, perfect for on-the-go use. This paint set has been practical and convenient for travel, providing all the essentials needed for painting anywhere.
This watercolour paint set is perfect for painting on the go. The professional quality and vibrant colors make it ideal for artists. The compact travel size is very convenient, and the water-soluble paints are easy to work with. Highly recommended for both beginners and professionals.
I recently acquired the Derwent Watercolour Paint Pan 12 Set, and it has quickly become a favorite in my art supplies. This compact set includes 12 half-pan size water-soluble paints that are perfect for both beginners and professionals. The quality of the paints is impressive, offering vibrant and rich colors that blend beautifully.
The set’s compact size makes it ideal for travel, fitting easily into a bag for on-the-go painting. The paints are easy to activate with water and provide a smooth, consistent application. Whether you are painting detailed illustrations or broad washes, this set handles it all with ease. Overall, the Derwent Watercolour Paint Pan 12 Set is a fantastic addition for any artist looking for high-quality, portable watercolours.
I really like this pocket-sized watercolour set by Derwent. It has small blocks of colour, an integrated mixing tray, plus the water brush. While this is very travel friendly, of course you’ll still need your own water source for washing etc, paper and so on. I found the colours vibrant, and the paints themselves as good quality as you’d expect from this brand. Undeniably an effective and nice-to-use set of quality paints.
This is a great set of water colours, ideal for taking away and painting while outside. The paint is great quality and the included brush is nice enough. Our daughter loves painting, particularly scenes outside, so this is great for us to grab on walks so she can quickly do some artwork on the go. Great!
This review is for the item described as “Derwent Watercolour Paint Pan 12 Set, Set of 12, Half Pan Size, Water-Soluble, Ideal for Painting, Professional Quality, Travel Size, 2306323”.
I was delighted to receive this compact set to try. It has a quality feel to it, closing with a nice snap. The water brush is easy to use once I worked out that the thread operates in the reverse to normal. I appreciate the inclusion of the mixing palettes and found the paints to be highly pigmented and of good quality. I watch an artist on YouTube who does urban sketches using a small palette very similar to this one with similar colours. A perfect little set for taking out and about or as a starter set for a beginner to watercolouring like me.
This product was sent to me to review, as part of Amazon Vine. Below is my own real-world experience of using it.
In terms of quality, it is a sturdy, compact and lightweight tin that is very convenient for travel – especially if you consider the included ‘water pen’, which negates the need for carrying additional brushes, etc.
Each colour is vibrant, and easy to mix – you can even use the lid of the palette to do this. I did notice that the cubes appeared to be removable, so I researched further – it is possible to purchase refills, which is great, and adds longevity to the pan.
Having picked it up for my child (who is very interested in art and design), I can say that they are happy with how it functions, and are enjoying painting with it. Recommended.
This is a lovely portable paint set ideal for travelling if you are a water colour painter on the go. The box is nothing particularly special but it is perfectly functional and includes a good quality mini waterbrush. What stands out in particular is the quality of the paint as the colours are beautifully vibrant and homogenous on mixing. The price is a little expensive (at the current price of 15) if you are just after a basic watercolour set for your kids, but if you are a semi serious painter who needs something on the go, then you cannot go too far wrong with Derwent products.
The Derwent Watercolour Paint Pan 12 Set is a nice set of watercolours whether that be for beginners or more experienced artists.
The twelve colours are quite small but it doesn’t take much to create a lovely colour once water has been added. The shade can be adjusted depending on how much water is used and you can either decide to use the water pen included which is handy or you could use your own paintbrush.
I like that there is a range of colours so there is an option for almost anything I choose to paint. I am new to using watercolours but I am enjoying using this set so far. It is useful that it comes in a pan with a lid so I can keep them safe but they do still move around a bit inside. Maybe once I’ve used more of them this’ll stop happening.
I think this is a nice set but does seem a little expensive with what you get.
This watercolour paint pan set from the well known artistic brand, Derwent, is perfect for travelling with. It only has 12 colours and a water paint brush pen but it is all neatly contained in a small plastic case which closes securely and fits neatly in a bag or pocket. Ideal for quick colour sketches on the go.
The paints are of a super quality and blend well. The pack is not the cheapest, but it is priced as I would expect for a set of this brand, size and quality.
I believe I am extremely lucky to test this product as someone who buys expensive paint and oil pastel supplies. This Derwent watercolour set was perfect to pair with my Derwent sketchbook!
With this watercolour paint pan set, you get 12 sets of half pans in the colours they have advertised. The pans are loose and do move around so you have to be careful in case the watercolour paint blocks fall out. There are also some loose bits of paint that you have to clean off before using the watercolours as they will mix with the other colours but other than that the product is great.
The watercolours are very vivid and the colours spread nicely. The colours also mix well and are very nice to use. They are of high quality and do not look discoloured or blotchy. The colours you use will be constant throughout and even after they dry.
I would definitely recommend this product!
Despite the slightly disappointing size, the quality of the colours is genuinely exceptional. These paints are highly lightfast and you can tell that it is a professional-grade formula which is user-friendly for both beginners and pro artists. It comes with 12 vibrant colours that blend seamlessly. This set is reasonably priced and comes with a mini water brush and integral mixing trays, making it ideal for portable use and travel.

The colours are nice, and the water pen is handy but a bit leaky. Wasn’t overly impressed with the plastic case, it isn’t water tight and the plastic is a bit brittle. But by far the colours make up for this. Unfortunately not big enough for holding a paint brush, but it all fits into a sandwich bag very well, which keeps it all water tight!
