    Handy Thermomete
This is a handy little thermometer to have in your kitchen. It comes with a battery already supplied and is simple, with an on/off switch and a button to switch from C to F. The metal probe folds out and as far as I can tell it seems reasonably accurate, or at least accurate enough for me! The magnet on the back seems superfluous as I can’t imagine keeping it on my fridge for example, and it is quite bulky to do so but otherwise it is a good basic thermometer.

    Not bad for the price
This food thermometer does work, we tested it with chicken and it gave what seemed like the correct temperature. We tried it at body and cold fridge temperature too and these are right. It took a little time to readjust in jumps of temp readouts and it feel a little on the flimsy side. I suppose you get what you pay for and at this price it’s more of a handy home kitchen gadget so for that purpose it works fine.

    Cheap and cheerful!
This cheap, no frills meat thermometer works well and has a clear display.

It takes a single AAA battery which is included. It’s a little bit flimsy but this doesn’t affect its performance. Readings can be displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

As the temperature changes it does seem to jump every few seconds or so, rather than smoothly increasing or decreasing however it does settle in the end at the true temperature.

Overall I’m pretty impressed as it’s less than a tenner and does what it’s designed to do!

Quite sharp, very useful, shame about the magne
This came with instructions and a battery, which is a plus. The point is very sharp, some care will be required for washing. I love it can swap between Fahrenheit and Celsius but if there is a magnet on an item, I would like it to stick. I tried on several surfaces and this didn’t have the sticking power. Good value for 7.99.

Accurate, compact, but a little flimsy
This meat thermometer is quite compact due to its folding design. It is constructed from plastic with a stainless steel thermocouple probe. The display is clear and can be easily switched between Centigrade and Fahrenheit. The probe can be positioned at any angle up to about 175 degrees from closed, it is not limited to the 45 degree angle shown in the photos.
There is a hanging loop at one and which could be convenient and a magnet set into the back. Unfortunately the magnet is too weak to support the weight of the thermometer so it seems like a bit of an afterthought.
The thermometer was surprisingly accurate in my tests, displaying 0.0 C when inserted into a beaker with crushed ice and water, and 99.6C when inserted into boiling water. Plenty accurate for cooking duty.
My only concern is it feels a little cheap and plasticky. But good value all the same.
