Live my first eufy. Took me a while to realise that to turn the mop ‘off’ just remove the mop head. I have mapped my house and eufy cleans the floors while I do something else! Great!!! There is regular maintenance to do on the machine and after three months I am buying bags and new filters etc costing 50. This will last for the next two years or so. It’s worth the money I think.
Honestly I’m happy vacuuming my floors with Henry. But this is great to keep on top of the dust and bits that build up. Lovely to come home to clean floors. I usually use a few days a week not as an everyday thing.
Mop element could be better but its keeps the wood floors clean.
Top tip. Hide your wires away, it can cope going over them very well and doesn’t damage at all but can pull them out of devices.
This is a much improved version of a robotic vacuum cleaner that we’d previously owned in the noughties. The old one used to get stuck all the time and this one simply doesn’t. It is truly helpful. The only downside is that it freaks the cat out.
I got this to help keep on top of my two cats fur and the litter that gets kicked out of the litter box. As soon as funds allow, I’ll be getting another one so I have one for upstairs and one for downstairs!
It might be small but that certainly doesn’t stop it from doing it’s job!
It was super easy to set up with Alexa too so that it automatically goes off on its little adventures at set times throughout the day. Absolutely love it!!
Since my previous rather upset review my experience has improved significantly. I was provided with a replacement unit, and the customer service from Anker was very swift and helpful. They turned around the issue in about 7 days and I cannot complain. When I initially started, I was quite disappointed, I realised through my conversations with Anker I picked the wrong unit and wanted the xPro series. I would encourage everyone to do their research and reach out to the team if they need help deciding. 5/5
The L60 is certainly a very complete package and it does a lot of what the pro series does, however, my use case was quite different and I need more power and the larger mop. However, the L60 is great for day-to-day use. It’s also a lot more quite and to be honest that does matter when you would like to run it later in the evening. Overall, it’s a solid piece of kit and frankly, you don’t get as much bang for your . If however, you are looking to spend a bit more and get an uncompromising piece of kit have a look at the pro series. It’s a very large range they offer so do take your time as there is plenty out there and you need to find the best solution for your home.
Really easy to set up and works better than expected. Can be frustrating to watch as it doesn’t necessarily take the most obvious route around the room, but I just close the door and go back to it a bit later. Easy to empty too
I have a large dog and he to be honest he is a castaholic,
Hair gets everywhere but since I’ve had this I come down to or back from a shift to nice clean floors no more welcoming tumbleweeds of fur. I’ve set it to automatically do its thing twice a day. If you have a dog or cat I can’t recommend it enough I love it.
Good but only has one side spinning thing, unlike our other model which has one on each side, so it takes longer. Suction is good on both wooden flooring and carpet. Annoying American accent can’t be changed though unless you change language.
I’d been looking at the robot hoovers for a while, wasn’t sure if it was going to be a fad or how it would work out.
Decided to get the Eufy G50.
With 3kids and 2 dogs that shed a lot, I was having to hoover round at least twice a day sometimes 3 in the kitchen area.
Having ‘Bob’ as the kids have called him has been a real help.
I was amazed how much he picked up. He takes a while going round but it helps out a lot and I can concentrate on other things. Ie work.
‘Bob’ goes round and does his job twice a day, he doesn’t moan he doesn’t answer back he just hoovers round and then goes home to charge!
He doesn’t completely remove the need to hoover but he does a good job of it.
The dogs aren’t bothered by it either which is good. Overall I’m pleased I decided to get him.
I was hesitant to buy a robovac because I wasn’t convinced they’d be that good and it’s a lot of money. Now I wish I’d bought one years ago!
Performance is great!
Great for dog hair, easy to clean after each use, battery life is good for about an hour of use. Surprisingly quiet, but good suction. The dust capacity is good and it goes faster than I thought it would!
App is easy to use and I like seeing the map of where it’s been.
We bought this robovac around 5 years ago now. After ~4 years of intensive (daily) use, the suction motor started to malfunction. I’m very impressed with eufy providing the option to buy spares, instead of having to buy a new product. We got a new suction motor, changed brushes, etc. and now it works as new. Cleaning is great, particularly for daily use. Mapping software is basic, but does the job, making sure it doesn’t miss any bit of the house.
Good if you have reasonable clear rooms with furniture that is high enough for it to pass under to keep on top of cleaning. I have a couple of items of furniture too low for it to fit under but low enough for it to try and it gets stuck so I block them off with towels as the magnetic strip don’t work.
It does what it says but u need to do the manual self cleaning after every 15-20 days (depend on you). But anyway it really works and it feels good if u don’t need to do cleaning everyday.
We had never considered buying a robot vacuum cleaner. We had bought our daughter-in-law one as a Xmas present. At her request.
When we visited the next couple of times we noticed a huge difference in the house. Our grandsons toys and motor cars no longer graced the carpets. The dining room’s hard floor positively glowed. ‘Bob’ the vacuum had been programmed to clean the house daily while the children were taken to school having picked up their toys. On her return our daughter-in-law could start her busy working day in clean & tidy house.
We were sufficiently impressed to purchase ‘Dotty’. We mapped our three storey home and set her to work. The entertainment she provides shouldn’t be underestimated. Even our cat enjoyed prowling after her from room to room. More to the point the revelation on emptying the quantity of compacted dust, fluff, cat hair and dirt was shocking.
The house is gratifyingly clean, the carpet pile is looking immaculate and appears thicker. No danger of her falling down the stairs, she knows what she’s doing. Unfused by table or chair legs, doors or speaker stands. She uses LiDAR to scan the house. Check out uTube for the Eufy X8.
Downsides, she’s not inexpensive, finding the right space for her home base could be tricky in a cluttered house. She ideally needs it moved from floor to floor with her. It will pay to get dining chairs and other lose items, cat bowls, etc out of the way while she or he works. Oh, she’s programmable and Alexa is compatible with her.
Having previously vacuumed our three storeys from top to bottom, she does a job I’d rather not do. What’s more she does it a lot better than I do.
If there’s anything that tells you you’re living in the future more than drinking tea while remote controlling your hoover around your living room I’d like to know what it is. We’ve only had Giles for a couple of days and my only regret is not getting him sooner. I’ve been debating getting one of these for a while but some of the prices are crazy and I was wary of buying a (relatively) cheap one. Then I saw the reviews for this model and decided to take the plunge.
So far so great! Our main room is open plan with wooden floors and 2 couches that are low enough to be awkward to get under to hoover without pulling them out, but high enough to see the large dustballs underneath. I have long hair, a cat, and a husband, so the floor always needs swept and frankly I have things I care more about. But not Giles! In he came and within a matter of fascinating minutes (it’s quite hypnotic to watch) he had trundled under both and left the floor cleaner than it had been in a shamefully long time. He’s very good at manoeuvring things without crazily bumping into them and damaging them, although without mapping his sense of direction is roughly equivalent to mine so he does have a habit of wandering round the same spot for a while instead of heading off to other parts of the room. But he makes it there, and back to the charging station, eventually. We put the station under our sideboard cupboards so it’s unobtrusive rather than sitting out in plain sight.
You do have to make sure cords are out of the way, and he kept trying to mount the base of the floor lamp, but the magnetic strips provided are really effective at keeping him away and fairly neutral so not an eyesore (not sure I’d want them along the edge of a hearth though). I set the timer for him to come on before we got up, but found it a bit too loud, especially in the tiled hall – although in general I think it’s relatively quiet – but the app meant I could just change my mind and send him back to charge. He has got stuck once under a tv unit that’s just a bit too low but he beeped enough to alert me then stopped before it got annoying which is good.
Overall I think it’s going to be a game-changer in terms of keeping on top of the everyday dust and hair and generally making the place look clean and tidy with zero effort. What more can you ask for?
(The cat hates him though. Won’t be in the room when he’s working, and gave him a skippety-pap on the way past the charging station today, but until I can convince her to wear duster shoes he’s staying.)
Wow where to start! never having owned a robot vacuum cleaner before i didn’t know what to expect but have been pleasantly surprised how well it works and how helpful it is. A lot of extras are included from brushes, magnetic rolls, sticky pads and cutting tool for removing hair from the rotating brush.
Dirty Bertie which is his given name took around 5.5 hours to charge and will flash orange to start then turn blue when he is fully charged and ready to go, he lasts around a good hour after that. The app is easy to set up and has many handy little features. I have found him easy to empty and clean and you will be surprised and shocked how much dust and dirt he actually picks up.
The plus points for me are the convenience of use when i am busy doing other things, Bertie gets under low to the floor furniture that i can’t get my vacuum cleaner under and the rotating brushes do a good job of cleaning in the corners and sides of rooms. The suction is great and Bertie moves niftily along the floor too, (i made a short video of him in action moving along different flooring surfaces). The magnetic rolls, there are two of them can be cut to length, i have a lot of fire places in my house and one of them has a raised wooden surround that he kept getting stuck on top of so i laid the strips around the edges and he then avoided it from then on. I have a lot of furniture and he manages it well and will try his best to reach those awkward areas.
The negatives are that with furniture in the corners of rooms he can’t clean these areas unless you remove the furniture this isn’t always possible and with light metal furniture he does have a tendency to knock it over. Regarding electric cables you will have to put them up out of the way as they will get caught up in the brushes, cable ties are included so you can use these or pop the cables in a plastic container. Bertie docks really well and leaves just enough battery life to get back to his station, i have however had him working in the living room and had to carry him to the docking station myself which is located in the dining room, this has happened only once though, the first time i tried him out.
If you don’t want him on show and seen when charging up, i have found the best place for him to dock is under my couch which is raised off the floor, he can’t be seen by anybody but will still work via the remote control and he has had no problem finding his way back. If the station moves around when he is docking himself the sticky pads can be used to set it firmly in place, i don’t have carpet so this method has worked out well for me.
I am so glad i purchased him and am really happy with his cleaning power and performance, absolutely no regrets.
* The RoboVac G30 is an upgrade to our first foray into robotic vacuums, the RoboVac 30C, and like it’s predecessor it gives a good cleaning performance, especially for something so small and unobtrusive. It’s pretty quiet, too.
* The RoboVac docking station is much smaller than its competitors, and it fits under a set of cupboards in our dining room so the RoboVac G30 is completely out of sight when docked.
* On our floor plan (seven rooms over 95 sq.m. / 1,017 sq.ft.) the RoboVac G30’s typical daily run lasts around 95 minutes, on a mixture of hard floor (85%) and carpet. Vacuum strength is excellent and it adjusts itself to floor type.
* The RoboVac G30’s systemic navigation system is more logical and better suited to our extended bungalow’s large floor plan than the previous RoboVac 30C’s bump and turn navigation, and it’s far more satisfying to watch. It doesn’t come with the barrier strips the 30C came with, but it does know about stairs and avoids drops. Battery life of the RoboVac G30 is not quite as good as that of the 30C but unlike the 30C it remembers where it’s done so it heads home, recharges, and goes back for 5-10mins to finish off.
* For our floor area the RoboVac G30’s dust box is a little small in that it needs emptying after each daily run. The micropore/paper exhaust filter system is very effective.
* The Eufy app’s scheduling options are limited – I cannot see any way to launch the RoboVac G30 automatically more than once a day, but if desired this could be overcome readily with one or more Alexa timed routine(s), or at worst a manual start (either in app – no handheld remote control supplied – or by Alexa voice trigger).
* Alexa integration is useful, and we’ve set that up and used it to trigger or abandon cleans.
* didn’t see any mention of it in the ad blurb, but the RoboVac G30, like the 30C, has drop detection, so it can be taken upstairs and used to clean our bedrooms and landing without falling down the stairs.
*The RoboVac G30 copes well with all our rugs but one small rug with tassels. The tassels can catch on the wheels and if this happens the rug is dragged along for the ride. It handles all of our other rugs, even those fluffy ones in the bathroom, just fine.
* Our cat didn’t know what to make of RoboVac at first, but he usually ignores it. Sometimes he follows it around as though keeping an eye on it. Either way I t’s quiet enough that it doesn’t scare him.
* All in all, we love the convenience of the RoboVac G30 (or 30C). And it’s saving us time and money – we only have the manual vacuum out for the stairs now. Before this we’d have hoovered the entire house twice a week, so that’s a considerable saving in both time and electricity costs. According to our power meter plug it used less than 2.4kWh in October compared to probably 14-18kWh if we’d been hoovering manually. We were hesitant to try these things because they’re not cheap and we didn’t know if it would clean well but we can now say to anyone thinking of them, they’re terrific and we wouldn’t give ours up now.
I should start this review by stating, very clearly, that I am not a domestic goddess. My natural inclination to slovenliness is exacerbated by the other inhabitant of the house, a grumpy cocker spaniel who does not pull his weight with the household chores and traipses all sorts of mud, dust, food and hair everywhere. A colleague had let slip in a meeting that they had a robot vacuum and I had laughed at the thought – “don’t they just scare pets and get lost/stuck in inconvenient places?”, I asked. Then, several weeks ago the state of the house was really starting to get me down and I bit the bullet and started researching. A top of the range model looked appealing, but as I was still not really convinced it was a good idea, I wasn’t prepared to spend 400-500 on one. Then I found this Eufy G30 model – not quite the latest technology, but tried, tested and – with a helpful special offer – considerably cheaper.
It arrived quickly – thank you Amazon Prime! – and once unpacked the first challenge was to find a suitable “Home” location for the base. This was more challenging than I expected as it should be positioned at least a metre away from any obstacles, but close to a plug socket. As I have a small-ish house all my sockets tend to be in the corners of rooms – the most convenient spot was in the corner of the living room, tucked behind the sofa. It isn’t ideal, and occasionally it will get lost on the way back home, but 90% of the time it is fine.
After charging up the unit and forcing myself to do the basic “pick everything up off the floor” style tidy, it was time to unleash the beast. It’s fair to say that the first couple of cleans were entertaining to watch, but a bit underwhelming. The spinning brush went missing on the first clean (sabotage from the canine housemate, I later found it in his bed!) and the unit got stuck between a dining chair and table on the second. However, once we sorted out the first few snags I was seriously impressed at how much dirt and dust it can collect. I tried the automatic mode, but this wasn’t working for the amount of dirt in my house, so I keep it on Max power – as a serious point, the dog is terrified of my big vacuum cleaner and whilst he looks at the Eufy very suspiciously and stays out if its way, he is much less bothered by it, so I’m justifying it with reduced canine stress levels as well.
We now have a routine, the dog and I leave the house for our morning walk and set the Eufy off to clean downstairs. By the time we get back my lounge, kitchen and dining room floors are dust, hair and food free – it genuinely makes so much difference to how I feel. Once a week I set it up to clean upstairs. The first time I did this I realised that I had definitely made the right choice. The newer units are taller to accommodate more brushes and mop features, but this little champ can actually squeeze under my divan base. It’s amazing!
I empty it about once or twice per week, which is very easy but I do tend to spill dust as I’m doing it and the filter cartridge gets clogged up quite easily. I hope that spares are readily available as I suspect I’ll need a few.
It can’t pick up big pieces of debris (e.g. dog kibble), but handles most other things well. The spot cleaning function is OK, but I generally just set it off to clean everywhere. I tried the remote control function from the app and found it a bit pointless, I just pick the unit up and put it where I want it instead.
All in all, I’m really happy with this purchase. It seems sturdy and I hope it lasts a couple of years – I just need them to invent a version that can climb stairs and dust higher up places as well 🙂
Wow!
I took a bit of a punt on this Robovac as it was on a pretty good deal. Checked out a few videos online and decided to go for it.
Glad I did!
I live in a house occupied by 4 people. 2 adults. 2 children. No pets.
Our 2 children are under 12 and therefore naturally make a mess… dropping crumbs, dirty shoes etc.
Every meal time I am tired of finishing the meal, tidying and washing up, to then find the floor needs vacuuming. So out comes the vacuum and 10 minutes later, I can finally sit down… to find that another room needs vacuuming…
It’s fantastic but not perfect…
Positives:
Starting with the positives, this device cleans a room for you. Giving you time to finish another job, have a well earned sit down, or sort the children out to then return to the room and have it relatively clean! brilliant!
You can set a schedule or start it from your phone. So it can start while you are out and you come home to a clean room. Excellent!
It requires some maintenance such as emptying the waste compartment but not much.
Negatives:
It doesn’t do well with edges. Especially on carpet where the carpet folds over against your skirting boards. You need a separate vac to get there.
It doesn’t do stairs. So you need a vac for them.
It does pickup or get stuck on things you don’t want to, and requires your attention, such as shoes laces. You then have to sit there for ten minutes trying to pick them out…
It does get confused with light. So if you have the sun shining through your window, and it casts shadows in your room, this will confuse the Robovac. As it things its an obstacle.
Standard setting is not powerful enough on a lower pile carpet. Put it on max for best results.
Overall:
I know i’ve given some negatives but all that is required is a little thought before setting Robovac off to clean. Such as wedging doors open/closed. Moving ALL items off the floor and under units/sofa. Closing curtains to stop shadows.
Overall, we are really happy with this. It gets under sofas that you normally can’t reach and therefore forget about, under TV units, and on max suction, its very close to a regular vacuum.
It’s fine with the top of stairs (we’ve done the panic test) and cleans right to the edge without falling down…
The app is great too. You can activate it with your voice if linked with google assist or Alexa and it will tell you the state of the brushes/sensors and if they require cleaning/replacing.
The other great thing with the app, is that it will notify you if the Robovac gets stuck, is picked up or needs assistance. Great if its picked something up that it shouldn’t or if the kids are playing with it…!!
How i would rate this device is that it’s great to keep the dirt/dust down but it won’t replace a regular vacuum. You will still need that for the edges/stairs etc. But the biggest plus point is saving you time. It does a general clean while you are at work or hanging the washing out and when you get back, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
Get it!
I love this product!
Right, now that I have your attention, read on dear reader. I bought this product, as I felt that it would help kill two birds with one stone as it were (no birds were harmed in the writing of this review). I could get the hoovering done, whilst working on the rest of the housework.
The RoboVac is as relatively as compact as it can be, and is very thorough in its cleaning. Contained within the packaging, is the RoboVac itself (obviously), two boundary strips, replacement brushes, and replacement filter, a home charing station, and a remote control. The boundary strips are perfect for placing across areas you don’t want the vac to go, the replacement brushes are ideal for when your brushes need replacing, same with the filter really. The remote can be used to send it to do automated cleaning, or you can control it manually, either way the option is there.
To get started, you’ll need to make sure you download the Eufy app. You’ll need that to set it up, and be able to control it from your phone too. Also, if you have an Echo device, you can get the Eufy skill, and link your accounts to control it using Alexa. I found the set up process to be very quick and easy. A very straightforward process, that should even be idiot proof. Within minutes I had R2D2 up and running, and gliding about the house doing the cleaning.
Upon putting my RoboVac together, I was faced with a slight issue, that being that the clip on the dust collector tray was broken. It had arrived like this. Whilst the product still worked ok, it had the ability to get worse due to how it was broken, and require replacing. Worried that I would have to send the whole thing back, and await the arrival of another, whole new product, I was put in contact with ANKER who produce this product, and supplied it through Amazon. To my amazement, they didn’t require anything to be sent back, and very swiftly arranged a replacement part, all they needed were some brief details of the fault, and some pictures of it. Within 24 hours of me contacting them, they had responded, and were arranging a replacement part be dispatched out to me. It has since arrived, and works perfectly. I have no doubt that this was an isolated issue, and was resolved very quickly and very professionally. It is for this reason, that I have not deducted a star for this.
The product itself, well, it sucks, but in a good way. It sucks how it is meant to suck, it gets up all the dust and dirt that it needs to. I know that’s quite a sweeping statement (it does that too), but I was surprised at how much such a small and compact RoboVac can pick up, and how dirty the floor actually was, genuinely doesn’t look that bad at all. The RoboVac does well at learning its surroundings, and will cover the whole floor, it even manages to get into corners. It has sensors all around which prevent it from crashing into things, and also keeps it away from the edge of the stairs, so that it doesn’t take a tumble.
I am pleased that I have made the investment in this product, and it is a product I would recommend if you are looking to purchase one of these. If you have a dog, however, a couple of tips, get your dog used to it, otherwise you may find your dog chasing it around trying to attack it, or running away from it. Also make sure that your dog hasn’t left a little surprise anywhere before activating it, otherwise you may find that you have some lovely brown smears across your floor.
One other thing, before I go, the RoboVac can be given a name on the app, and I am torn with what to call it. R2D2 is clearly an option as a Star Wars fan, and I know someone else has called theirs Meryl Sweep, I’m kinda liking Dusty Springclean to be honest…
Seriously, if you are looking for one of these, I highly recommend.
Over the last 12 years I’ve tried probably around ten robot hoovers. Only a handful have stayed and been any good.
Last year I bought two Ziglint robot hoovers. They were great until one developed a fault. I replaced it with another after reading reviews but it was hopeless and I realised there were no spares for it either. I then tried a different brand after reading reviews. But I discovered that they offered incentives like a second hoover or a your money back in return for 5 star reviews!! When I wrote a bad review they offered me more incentives to retract it. I refused to retract it. After that I bought another Ziglint (warehouse deal as the brand have disappeared) but that too was faulty.
So I started to look again. I decided to go with Eufy because they are made by Anker who make superb power bank chargers and leads – I own many. It was a name I trusted not to vanish within months (so many robot hoovers brands disappear and then you can’t get spares – I always buy spares at the same time as the hoover now).
I was going to get the lower level robot hoover but pushed the budget for this one with the mapping feature. It was extra money very well spent.
This robot hoover is probably the best I’ve ever owned. It works really hard to logically clean the house. It won’t just run over a room once but several times. There’s three suction ratings and even though the Ziglint had been looking after our house, the Eufy sucked masses more out on its first run around on turbo suction!
It doesn’t seem to get stuck like other hoovers on kids toys. It manages door thresholds no problem. It also has no issue with my black doormat and cleans it beautifully – every other hoover got distressed going round in circles on it!
The app is super simple. It’s not lost WiFi connection to date. It finds its home easily (again unlike other hoovers).
I like the way the app texts you if there’s an issue and even the way it talks to you.
It looks superb – robust and shiny. Everything I expect from Anker.
I was a little disconcerted by it having only one rotating brush but it looks like there’s an extra suction point at the opposite side. I see no issue with just one brush to date.
I’m extremely happy and would certainly recommend this Eufy hoover to anyone. Probably the best robot hoover ever!
*Edit* it’s a few years since I wrote the first review – it is now 2023. This and my other Eufy robot hoover have outlasted all previous robot hoovers. Fab. Customer service is great too.
While my Siri, Alexa and Cortana covertly formed a union and passed a motion to ignore my instructions, this wee guy has rejected the robot uprising and remained loyal to it’s owner.
I was new to this whole robo-vacuum game. I’m glad I did some fairly extensive research before deciding on Eufy and I’ll share my findings here. Eufy products seem to have the best suction, pound for pound, and, their 11S or 15C are winners in the least expensive ‘randomly bounce from wall to wall’ segment. Due to the sheer size of my mansion house, I opted for the G30 which has the same chassis and suction as the 15C but is one step above with some dynamic mapping software. There is an even more involved ‘laser/camera mapping’ segment but this costs quite a bit more again, and, I don’t want this level of intrusion/security risk- these robo-vacuums are all wifi-connected for scheduling, status reporting and remote control from anywhere on the planet.
I rejected the ‘built in mop’ segment as it sounds (from review vids) like more of a gimmick than a useful appliance.
The G30 is a great bit of kit. Simple instructions, easy to set up, quiet, comparatively low height for getting under furniture (Eufy might even be the lowest), still hasn’t got stuck or fallen anywhere, maps out a fairly detailed floorplan (I can see the asterisk legs of my swivel chair), has an intuitive mobile app interface, comes with some replacement brushes & filters (so long life seems to be expected), and most importantly, good results on my floors. The auto-suction level adjustment is audible and balances between power-use and different floor surfaces.
I’m not affiliated in any way other than being a first-time, paying customer. I recommend this as a very useful ‘fire and forget’ gadget that seems to be excellent value for money. Definitely more ‘R2D2’ than ‘T-101’.
I replaced a cheap robot vacuum cleaner with this one specifically for the power of the vacuum and for the Dynamic Navigation. I’m not disappointed with the cleaning, it cleans up really well, however the Dynamic Navigation is nowhere good enough at the moment.
It’s mapping is sketchy and if it get stuck in areas, rather than marking them with a red mark in the map and avoiding them, it will try to clean them again and get stuck. It will only go half way around a circular table one day and then go back, the next day it will navigate around it successfully, the day after it won’t even go to that area so I have no idea where it will clean. The bump technology to detect walls and edges starts fine; finds a wall, but halfway along decides not to map part of the wall as solid so there are big gaps in the outlines of the rooms which probably doesn’t help the mapping. It’s really disappointing as I read that it was meant to use Dynamic Navigation to improve its mapping every time it cleaned, but it really doesn’t seem to be the case, with rooms often part cleaned. In fact, I’d say it does exactly the same thing as my 5 year old robot vacuum that had no mapping ability at all.
It deals with wooden floors really well, medium loose pile rugs pretty well but gets stuck every so often however will alert you with its voice function and phone notification, but this could be improved by the vacuum remembering problem places and marking them with a red dot/marker so they could be avoided while cleaning.
Battery life is excellent, getting 124 minutes on one clean, and the ability to have 4 different type of suction, with BoostIQ dynamically changing the suction required for different floor types it encounters.
There was a Firmware update recently, one of the fixes was to stop it from getting stuck which helped a little more, but it still got stuck in roughly the same areas (on the rugs) and still didn’t mark the map areas where it did get stuck so it will blindly continue to try to clean problem areas.
Autohome charging is a little clumsy too, it just bumbles around bumping into furniture and walls until it manages to find its way home. It seems to not use the map because if it would follow the map it had created it would be back at the charger in seconds rather than minutes.
I am in contact with Eufy support about the what the Dynamic Mapping is mean to do over and above their earlier models and so far, from their responses, it seems almost nothing, it’s a gimmick rather than a navigation tool for the vacuum, the ability to see a map in the application.
There’s plenty to like about this vacuum, small, decent size dirt storage container, really quiet, great battery life, good app with the ability to spot clean and change the suction type, ability to look at the map, good power for the vacuum, and see where the device is, but don’t believe the Dynamic mapping makes it very smart, in fact I’d go so far as to say it’s almost useless.
Smart mapping was a big reason for my purchase hence only a 3 star review.
Update: the firmware update seems to have made the device much worse. It now won’t travel in a straight line, it goes across the room at a slight angle and maps room edges in the map incorrectly as a result. It now also always get stuck in the black sections of the multicoloured rugs we have, seemingly like the sensors don’t know where it is, and gives a device error 6, device is trapped or stuck message. Again I have reported this to Eufy support who have forwarded this information to their product people. Subsequently, I have amended my rating to two star because now I cannot rely on it not to get stuck when using a cleaning schedule, which is particularly frustrating when it gets stuck over and over again in the same place it got stuck in before.
Update 2: 5/08/20
This is the second attempt at an update as the first seemed to disappear.
I’ve been in constant discussion with Eufy, who have been absolutely first class support wise.
They’ve worked with me to try to get an acceptable resolution and I can say they’ve gone absolve and beyond what I expected.
The crux of the problem for me is the navigation and the issue of stopping on small, dark sections of a multicoloured rug.
The mapping, I don’t think there is anything Eufy can do with this model. The L70 has a far more comprehensive mapping capability, but is more expensive. However the cleaning on the G70 is just as good as the L70 on that front, and cleaning is excellent on both models. In summary, if your expecting an intelligent, customisable mapping experience from this model, then you’ll be disappointed, and maybe the L70 should be looked at.
The black section issue Eufy have given me a workaround to, if not perfect. By covering the sensors on the front and side of the device it will happily clean these rugs (picture shown of rug pattern) without issue. It no longer thinks it’s stuck and does a great job. However, this is only good if the device can be used in an environment where a drop is not possible. It would be great if Eufy could enable this ability in software and firmware rather than me covering the sensors in tape, and if it realised that if it got into that area it could retrace it’s steps to get back to a previously safe area.
Eufy have taken all my suggestions on board and are going to put them forward to the product teams, but I can’t reiterate enough how fantastic their support have been. Reminds me of how Amazon used to be a few years ago.
I am amending my review again, however I am going to clarify it by saying it gets an extra star just for the amazing support Eufy have given which should be taken into consideration when purchasing a product. 3 stars for the Product and the extra star for the support, whom I would give 5 stars alone if I could.
After months of debating over which robot vacuum to go for i finally decided on this after narrowing it down to this and the 15C max version. This the first robot vacuum I’ve owned or ever actually seen in action (although at the same time I did buy a 20 different model off of amazon just to deal with my bedroom which is upstairs in the loft.)
Sonny (as we’ve named him) is the best Christmas present I could have bought for myself and flatmates. I previously split my share of the vacuuming time roughly 70% dreading it/25% feeling guilty for not doing it and the other 5% looking for a robot vacuum. It goes without saying my flatmates are delighted that I’m finally pulling my weight.
Set up of Sonny was super easy although I’m yet to get him to show up on my Alex app as a device, although he does respond to company on Alexa through our phones and 4K for stIckes (which currently are the only Alexa devices we own)
Our flat is a mixture of carpet and wooden floors and he vaccines then all with easy (our carpet is very short I should add).
The first time we used him his dust bin was full within an hour and we (my flatmate) had only vacuumed a couple days before, he did an amazing job getting under the counters and into the corners and picking up cat hair which was impressive as the cat owner and the cat moved out 2 months ago.
The floors are extremely clean after the first use and after a week the dust levels are reduced also.
He does get stuck now and again under funny shaped items (like my clothes rail) and you can
Hear beeping from him and a notification when he gets stuck (often for us after consuming too much of my flatmates long hair) but it’s an absolute doddle to untangle him and get him on the move.
He’s extremely quiet (although when he does get stuck his beeps are loud enough to get your attention) so you can watch tv easily while he’s a work.
The boundary strips are not something we’ve needed to use and he’s not tried to throw himself over the stairs yet. He’s registered to my account but my flatmates have both created their own account which was very easy and I’ve shared him through the apps (extremely easy) so we can all control him from wherever in the flat or world we are!
There are a couple more features I’d like, such as mapping off the flat and less random movements, but those are features I’d be happy to pay more for so for the price (169.99 at time of purchase) I’ve no complaints. As soon as his hybrid cousin comes down in price I’ll be buying her for my upstairs room which is wooden and tiled (Sonny does do a great job of the vacuuming when I bring him up here though, I’d like the mop feature to
reduce further my spent or thinking about cleaning and give me the opportunity to find another chore to procrastinate.
I have now had him a week but i have no reasons to complain. He’s very quiet and doesn’t dash into items. Rather gently avoids unless he’s doing a clean of the edges.
For comparison the 22 I I purchased does a good job on hard floor floors (he won’t even move on our carpet) but doesn’t have any of the smart features of Sonny and also by bumps into obstacles making him a bit noisy, but still satisfactory for his price.
For me the floors have never looked cleaner, all you may find you need to do it move furniture for tight spaces or do as I did and purchase small handheld device for tight spaces and stairs.
Very much looking forward adding another Eufy to the family and I only wish I had a bigger house to justify many more.
Murph, as he has become known, arrived at my house after the last amazon sale, and I wasn’t expecting all that much at the price… but ive gotta be honest i’m super impressed
Scandinavian minimalism – my flat, is not, it has very narrow walkways between furniture and more nooks and crannies than Gordon Ramsey’s visage but somehow Murph diligently finds his way around my cluttered rooms, often going back over the same spot many times, he seems to lack any ability to room map you see, but he perseveres, banging his head and reversing, and always gets it eventually and then continues on his merry way like the happy little sucker he is
Murph largely does his work when I’m out of the house, so I do quite often get a message pop up on my phone saying Murph has got stuck, or his brush is caught on something. So, when i get home I ask Alexa to find Robovac and then the fun begins, as you follow the happy beeps to discover which minor predicament he’s got into – has he sucked a sock or a phone cable up his backside, or the very occasional manoeuvring accident where he gets stuck on the corner of a rug or he’s tried to mount one of on my domed speaker bases
…BUT… always my flat is spotless, definitely cleaner than when I left, and generally far more detritus-free than its ever been. So, sure he gets stuck occasionally and mindlessly bumps his way around the room, but boy is he good at tackling the job. I have quite thick rugs he jumps up with ease, door boundaries are a doddle.
I have had to use the supplied magnetic strips to close off a few small areas that he struggles with, an area of wires under the TV he likes to pull at and one exit from under a sofa (yes he happily goes under my sofa) where he gets stuck as the exit meets a rug, and I have to be mindful of those socks and phone cables (probably to my general betterment) – thats it though!
Ive even given him an obstacle course at his charging point, under a table with a chair in the way, only just big enough so squeeze between the legs – yet, he always makes it back (after I free him from his latest predicament) using his usual bumpy, bumpy, try, try method of navigation.
I have one minor quibble – you need to keep him empty and the cylinder brush clean (very, very simple job) – he does have a tendency on piled carpets, to deposit fluff when he finishes a cleaning cycle. I think what happens is the dustbox backs up dense fluff in the slot between the brush and dustbox opening this then gets caught in the brush on the cylinder – which is fine when its running – but as it slows down that fluff then gets dropped or attaches itself back to the pile carpet
So occasionally you will find a few fluffballs lying around. This means to me he definitely needs emptying (he sometimes isnt always full but there is usually a gratifyingly dense amount of fluff in the dustbox opening) and most importantly his brush needs a good clean using the tool. Its a 2 minute job, couldnt be more simple to remove, just a clipped hinged cover – so no bother at all. My hoover has been relegated to the ‘cupboard-that-ne’er-gets-opened’, thanks to Murph but your hoover hose is a pretty good way to clean it if you hold the cylinder brush tightly and kinda let the hose suck it up
Thats it, I bought Murph outright, these are my own words as a truly happy customer
…and in the words of Muphs big brother…
Thank you for your Co-operatio
**2021 UPDATE**
So Bryan has been with me 2 1/2 years now and he is still going strong. Still holding 5 stars effortlessly.
During the first few months of ownership you tweak and tidy your house so you get the most out of the vacuum. It encouraged me to finally declutter areas you shove things to forget about, mainly under the bed and units so Bryan can get in as many nooks and crannies as possible.
When I first had Bryan I was living in a studio flat and he was a saviour. I no longer had to keep and store a traditional vacuum saving me space which was ideal. There were times however when I could have done with a ‘normal’ vacuum so I could de-cobweb areas or use vacuum bags but overall, I didn’t need a big bulky vacuum.
Skip forward to today and I have recently moved into a masionette on the first floor and honestly, I arranged and configured my new place with Bryan in mind so he can just go about his business with minimal fuss.
He works hard, still going for around 70 minutes on Boost IQ at 17:00 every day and it’s so satisfying coming home around 17:45ish to the sound and sight of carpets being spotlessly clean with zero effort from me. Its shocking just how much dust and debris he still collects daily.
He has changed my attitude to clean living. Before I had him I could be a slob and just let the place go to rack and ruin before doing a ‘big clean’ around the house, but knowing he cleans every day means I have to make sure he doesn’t get tangled or miss areas so I am more inclined to put things away after using them and doing a quick check before leaving for work to ensure the floors are clean and clear for him to do his work.
After the recent move Bryan was now expected to deal with a flight of stairs and I was terrified of him falling down them. I did everything I could to try and get him to fall (with me on the stairs ready to catch him should he fall) but he outsmarted me everytime. He just doesn’t fall and is quite happy just bouncing around the whole flat cleaning for me.
In two and a half years he has got signs of use, I have had to replace the usual parts periodically as expected and every other week or so he gets a deep clean and service where I rake out the brush bar, de-fluff the wheels and bang out/change the filters.
I cannot fault this item, I love it/him and will never be without one. Eufy have nailed it with their line of Robovacs and will definitely get another Eufy Robovac should Bryan need to be retired.
A solid 5 stars.
Below is my original review from May 2019;
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Just to echo all the other reviews here, but wow.
I live in a studio flat and need to be creative with storage and space, having a ‘traditional’ vacuum takes up valuable space and has to sit on show in the hallway.
Having read the reviews and videos, the 11s was my choice mainly for the fact he (Bryan) can get under the bed and furniture where a lot of crud collects and the price point was great. I’d vacuumed a few days before getting Bryan with the trusty old DC05 and also had a sort out of stuff under the bed to make way for Bryan to come and clean and the above picture shows just how much crud he picked up on his first trip round the flat.
Noise level is remarkably quiet, even on high power he’s way quieter then I was expecting and he is able to navigate himself around the whole flat relatively well. I did follow him intently on his first trip out and rectified a few problem areas, namely under the kitchen counter where he’d manage to get stuck everytime due to the legs of the counter being in the way and also under the storage heater he’d jam himself under a bolt and beep. A bit of cardboard sorted the kitchen out and a blob of blutak solved the issue with the bolt.
It won’t replace a traditional vacuum just yet, I use vacuum bags and Bryan can’t deflate them, but I can either launch the DC05 to the outside cupboard or get a tiny cheap handheld which will go under the sink to do that.
Battery life is ok, not great, on boostIQ I managed to get about 70 minutes across laminate carpet and rugs, but by that time he had gone round the entire flat a couple of times.
Overall, money very well spent. I love Bryan and am glad he’s come home to stay.
This little robot is a game changer. Once you own a Eufy, prepare to see robotics in a whole new light. How many hours do you spend every week hoovering and sweeping? Imagine how much easier life would be if someone else did all that for you?
Enter Eufy.
I was long sceptical regarding these little hoover bots. How good can they possibly be? I asked. Surely the suction, well, sucks?
I moved into a one bedroom flat with all wood floors. It’s amazing how much dust and crumbs accumulates every day. Barefoot was out of the question, even though I swept like a buddhist monk.
We needed a new hoover, and it was about to be a cordless wall mounted one (which are also brilliant, by the way). Then I remembered the little cleaning robots and thought—I wonder how they review? How much do they cost?
Most other hoover robots were out my price range. And their reviews were dubious. All except for Eufy.
220 seemed like a bit of a risk. But I imagined a little robot cleaning my flat, like a futuristic doggy—that cleans. So, I went for it, half suspecting I had fallen for a gimmick.
Eufy arrived. We plugged in his charging dock, and placed him on it. (Notice it’s impossible not to assign EUFY a gender. ‘It’ would be too heartless.) His blue light shone brightly. He is a handsome robot indeed.
Then we sent him out to explore the place. I cannot exaggerate how much fun it is to follow him around. He gets into all sorts of wee nooks and crannies. He goes places that might make some people blush.
He doesn’t map, but rather follows a random pattern that has been tested to ensure maximum cleaning efficiency. And it works. He might bumble around the bathroom a few times, but don’t worry—he will make it into the kitchen. Eventually. Lucky his battery keeps him going for around an hour and a half!
Clear cables and other small things off the floor. Open up all your doors.
When his battery starts to drain, Eufy automatically switches into ‘return to base’ mode, in which he rather pathetically bumps around the walls, seeking out the signal from his dock.
If you can imagine a drunk staggering around the dark, looking for the lightswitch, you have a good idea of what it looks like. Its simultaneously heartbreaking and comical.
Seeing Eufy dock is truly amazing. It makes you want an entire world filled with little robotic inhabitants. It’s magical.
EUFY rolls onto his charger on his own, then shuts his little LED eye. He fully recharges in an hour or so.
You will be shocked at how much crap Eufy will have found in your home. Think you’re clean? Think again.
Eufy will need emptying after every excursion. Luckily doing this couldn’t be easier. Pull out the cartridge from the back, click the lock, and empty.
You can set an alarm for Eufy to automatically get to work at any point during the day. But only one time per day. Multiple alarms would have been handier for larger homes.
The build quality is surprisingly excellent. Eufy is also good at climbing up into medium pile rugs and carpets, and his cleaning power is surprisingly great. He might not get everything the first time round however, so a dust buster and pan and brush are handy extras.
I went from sweeping every day to not having to sweep once for the past two weeks.
Eufy is indispensable. All hail the robotic revolution. Life’s too short for hoovering. And besides—Eufy is simply better at it than you.
