Our pond water has been clear for many years, but after a spell of hot weather, it became obvious that a build up of sludge was generating a build up of gases, evidenced by eruptions of bubbles. The pond water became murky and there was a build-up of debris floating on the surface from the emissions of decomposing vegetation. This happened over a few short days and culminated in a foul smell. Despite a pump, filter, waterfall and various air stones, the situation was getting worse.
Having reviewed the options, I decided to use this combined duo pack product. The reviews suggested patience would be required, but my expectations were exceeded. Having dropped both balls into the pond on a Thursday, the water became noticeably clearer on Sunday. The smell was also diminishing and, by Tuesday, the pond had reverted to its normal clear state and the smell had gone.
Very pleased with the result! The pond has evolved over many years to be self sustaining and the fish were ignoring any added food as they had enough natural sources. With that in mind, the sludge has become a major feeder for the bottom feeding tench, so was reluctant to clear out the sludge build up and disrupt the equilibrium in the pond. Therefore, this apparently natural solution seems to have worked perfectly and the fish seem to have suffered no ill effects through the situation.
I am not sure how often the balls need to be added going forward and will play it by ear. Will probably buy a back up in a few weeks. In summary, I am very pleased with the results of the treatment and now know exactly what to do if it happens again.
Great product for balancing the bacteria in your pond, helps clear Nitrites and Nitrates and helps reduce green water.
My pond was very murky and it has cleared within a week.
I have used the Pond Bombs several times before and they seem to work quite well. I pop one in the pond about once a month to keep the balance of the water OK. I have a large pond with lots of fish so need to keep on top of things, especially now as they are feeding more and breeding. However, I haven’t used the Sludge Bomb so it will be interesting to see if this makes a difference. The pump is working continuously to clean the water but the additional help of these bombs is starting to make a difference.
We had a bit of a pond disaster over the winter where the groundwater lifted the liner and spilled all the water out of the pond.
Purchased the duo pack along with the filter start gel to give the filter a good kickstart before moving the fish out of their temporary home back into the big pond.
Can’t say how effective these are as I only dropped them in the filter today.
A week ago I could not even see my fish it was sludgy and dark I used the sludge bomb and pond bomb the pond is crystal clear

after a long winter I usually drop the Aqua Pure Duo Pack Pond Bomb & Sludge Bomb straight into my filter to give it a boost. Within days you can tell the difference the pond looks clear, the fish happier and any green algae as started to die.
Used this on my aquarium, trialed it on a smaller tank first then went all in and placed in main tank. It says safe for all wildlife so wondered why it’s just indicated as use for ponds. Anyway pond stuff is cheaper does a fantastic job and you get so much more for your money
