Believe all the positive reviews, these are definitely top of the tree straighteners and clearly a premium product in terms of build quality, ease of use, and the results you achieve. They aren’t too heavy, heat up quickly, and are easy to store. Great results with my fine hair, they easily run through it and no apparent damage either. I guess you get what you pay for and the enhanced tech in these hair stylers does show.

I was very pleased to receive this product, at the time I received it, it was priced at 289 and I consider this to be good value for money. It was well packaged.

I have some old GHD hair straighteners which are still working well – I’ve had those for 15 years. The quality of these GHD Chronos Professional Stylers is fantastic. The start up time is literally 20 seconds and the auto shut off works well at 10 minutes. They are lighter than my old set which is a bonus to me. When using they glide through my hair and one pass is sufficient – I am very pleased with them!

    I highly recommend this product!

I recently got this ghd , and I have to say, it’s the best hair straightener I’ve ever used. Right out of the box, the styler looks sleek and high-end. The black finish gives it a professional and stylish look. It feels solid and well-made, not cheap or flimsy. This straightener really does give high-definition results in just one stroke. I have thick, wavy hair, and with previous straighteners, I often had to go over each section multiple times. With the ghd , one pass is enough to make my hair smooth and straight. The results last for a full 24 hours, which is a game-changer for me. I no longer need to touch up my hair the next day, saving me time in my morning routine. I’ve noticed significantly less breakage since I started using this styler. My hair feels healthier and stronger. This is a huge plus because previous straighteners left my hair feeling dry and damaged. It also reduces frizz effectively. My hair looks much smoother and shinier after using it, even on humid days.It heats up in just 20 seconds, which is incredibly convenient when I’m in a rush. I don’t have to wait around for it to be ready. The 10-minute sleep mode feature is great for safety. If I forget to turn it off, it automatically goes into sleep mode, which gives me peace of mind.Using this has been a fantastic experience. It not only delivers excellent styling results but also helps keep my hair healthy and shiny. The quick heat-up time and sleep mode make it super convenient for everyday use. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-quality hair straightener.

Love the new design from ghd. They are so comfortable to hold and the heatproof cover ensures that nothing gets burnt or impacted by the heat when you put the GHDs down. I have fine hair that is very susceptible to changes in temperature and moisture in the air, when I straightened my hair with these GHDs it stayed straight for a while day. The coating on the straighteners leaves hair shiny and looking overall very healthy. I would definitely recommend these for straightening and curling hair.

ghd is a well established brand and one of the top selling hair straighteners to start with. This new product surprised me immediately. It was so quick to heat up I didn’t believe it and had to touch the irons! It’s quick! The irons are nice and wide and glided through my girlfriends hair and required just the one pass on each handful of hair. The result was that she was ready quicker using these irons compared to her older ones and the straightness seemed to last longer too. She was very happy with them. They come with a plug and cable that is very robust and will withstand being stood on and locked about if it’s anything like my house this is what happens. The attachment of the cable to the straighteners allows the cable to rotate so it’s less likely to become twisted etc and keeps you free to move easily around your head. Everything about these straighteners exudes high quality and yes they are very expensive but so are the competition and most of the time ghd is the brand to choose. It’s tried and tested and proven to last. Absolute quality product that will last for years and makes the task of hair straightening quicker and easier. Always makes a very nice gift for someone. Well presented and packaged.

I recently got this styler, and it is by far the best hair straightener I’ve ever used. It straightens my hair in literally one stroke, which saves me so much time in the mornings. The results actually last all day. My hair stays smooth and frizz-free for up to 24 hours. I was worried about heat damage because I used to straighten my hair every day with my old straightener, but this styler uses a lower temperature and somehow still gets the job done. And, it claims to offer 3 times more breakage protection, which makes me feel a lot better about using it regularly. It heats up in just 20 seconds, which is super convenient for busy mornings. It has a handy automatic sleep mode that kicks in after 10 minutes of inactivity, which is a great safety feature and saves energy.

The ghd brand is a trusted one, so expectations are very high for them – these do not disappoint in usability. They arrived well boxed, and come with a heat proof silicone rubber cap.

The straighteners look very sleek and stylish, as is typical with ghd, and feels quite robustly made. First impressions were impressive.

The cable is a standard 360 pivot so no worry about tangling up when using. The straighteners themselves are straightforward to use; plug in, press the power button to turn on and a white light indicates it’s on. It took no longer than 30 seconds to heat up. It cleverly has a sleep function after 10 minutes of no use and the white light around the power button will pulse to indicate sleep mode in active. When you want it back on, you press the power button again and it turns on. The only thing I would like to have seen, particularly for the price, is a heat protection mat. While the rubber cap is good for transporting, a heat mat would provide protection when using so it’s not lying on the bed, counter, table etc. It does need to be standard, when paying such a high price.

The chronos plates have rounded edges and smooth plates, which help lessen snagging of the hair – prevalent for those with both fine hair and thick hair. The ultra-gloss plates also supposedly give hair 85% more shine, 2 x less frizz and 3 x more breakage protection. I don’t really measure my shine percentage so can’t comment on what that would mean, but my hair does feel glossy, thereby having less frizz. As someone with fine hair, breakage is a big deal and when I do use it, I do find that there’s less fallout compared to other brands. Still, I won’t go back to using heat styling regularly again, but when I do use anything, these will be my go-to. The styles do last a fair amount as well, but I’d also say that’s down to a combination of my own products.

Overall, I’m happy with these and they’re a great continuation of a trusted brand. Coming in at 289 (at time of review) it is certainly pricey and you are paying for brand at this point. I think if it included a little more, it would make it worth it but this might not suit everyone’s budget. However, if you do have extra cash to splash, these are a very good choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, trusted brand

The straighteners are everything that you would expect from a premium brand. You feel like you are entrusting your hair to something special.

I love the motion feature that means it detects when you pick the straightener up and brings it back up to temperature in seconds. Its almost instant heat from the get go anyway. The fact it shuts itself off automatically is such a relief so you’re not worried about whether you turned them off but know it will automatically do it.

The straighteners are a nice weight to use and leave your hair smooth and in good condition still. The sleeve that is provided to go over the irons is appreciated.

All is all I think these are great straighteners that are exceptional quality and, while on the high end of the market pricewise, there is a good reason for that and I think they are worth it.

I’m comparing this product, the ghd Chronos Professional Styler, with my very old ghd 4.0B hair straightners. I’d say this latest model is a contender with regard to quality. I have about the same amount of hair breakage with the Chronos as my old ghds (note, I have lightened/dyed hair that is curly type 3a), and both give me the same amount of initial static at the top of my head (on freshly washed/dried hair) that eventually calms down by the end of the day. The Chronos is better in that the plates glide over my hair with much more ease. I also get the same results with the Chronos as my old ghds with regard to how straight my hair is (perfectly straight), and this perfect straightness lasts 24 hours. After 24 hours I do get a little wave definition in my hair but it is still very straight and stays that way until I wash it. In addition, my hair is way shinier with the Chronos than the old ghds. I have tried other models from ghd but I always went back to the old ones I’ve had for years. The Chronos is the first model that has me putting my old ones in storage as the overall results are better, and there is less heat damage as they are at a much lower temperature. I would absolutely recommend them on this basis.

A review from the wife… These straighteners come in premium packaging that is very classy. The straighteners are smallish and light. There is a heat sleeve included in the box. They are easy to use. They heat up very quickly and have a built in shut down mode in case you forget to turn them off. They are fantastic on hair, the plates glide smoothly and I need to run over my hair fewer times to get my hair super straight. My hair is thick and wavy and it takes about ten to fifteen minutes to straighten them. They also produce nice waves and curls so can be used for a variety of styles. My hair looks healthy and has a good glow to it. Hair also feels super smooth and soft. The power cable is long which is very convenient. I wish it did have a built in cable tie though to keep the cable neat and tidy after use. Although it comes with a heat sleeve, it would have been very helpful if a heat mat was also included. The price is extraordinarily high but it is a high quality product. My last set of GHDs are still going after 15 years so I’m doing these will last a long time too.

These are a fantastic upgrade to my previous very loved GHD’s! I got my first set in 2014 and they’re still going strong to this day but I have found that they don’t quite straighten my hair as well as they used to so I was looking to upgrade. Having heard that GHD had lost its quality of the last few years I was a little dubious on how this set would perform, but I am so pleased to say I have been pleasantly surprised!

Upon arrival the straighteners were packed up in a professional looking box. Inside were the straighteners and a heat proof rubber plate guard. Once plugged in they were extremely quick to heat up (20 seconds to be exact) and were very easy to use. Quite light compared to my old set and the addition of the pivot hinge really made it easy to manoeuvre. My hair felt super silky after use and didn’t frizz up quite as quickly as it did with the old pair so that is a huge plus for me!

I am so happy to have been able to upgrade my decades old straighteners and very happy to see that GHD still offers professional grade products for home use!

Yeah, its hard to justify spending this much on a set of hair straighteners, but they really are much better than a pair worth about 50.

Switch on, wait 20 seconds, drag through frizzy hair, switch off, put silicone hood on the end of the elements and you are done. I guess that’s why they are so pricey.

some expensive things just do the job better…

These aren’t cheap by any means.
    Are they worth it?
They are less expensive than my Dyson Corrale and are lovely and lightweight in comparison.
Performance on parr with my other GHD straighteners.
The flex is really long and they heat up very quickly.
I can’t say I’ve noticed any reduction in the time it takes to do my hair compared to.the other two.
For the price I would expect a storage case or even a carry case although they do come with a silicone protection sheath to put them in.

My wife had an old pair of GHDs – more than a decade old at this point – so she was excited to try these new GHD Chronos straighteners. The new straighteners are much more compact, both smaller and lighter, an the curved shape is comfortable to use. It also makes them easier to use to curl hair.

The straighteners heat up quickly and left my wife’s hair very smooth – “like I’ve just been to a salon” –

Her one complaint was the straighteners produce a very feint high pitched buzzing when on. Nothing that sounds like a fault, just that high bitched buzz many electronics produce. Her old GHDs don’t make this noise, and though a minor irritation, it’s not enough of an issue to put her off using the new Chronos straighteners, they are a vast improvement.

At 289 at the time of writing, these are not cheap. However they do offer excellent performance, a good quality build, and my wife is hopeful that these will last as long as her last GHDs have – if they do, then these are good value. As the adage goes, ‘buy cheap, buy twice’!

For context, I have a set of GHD originals that are around 10 years old now (model 4.2B). I got these as I thought it would be nice to have an upgraded pair as my existing set are starting to look a little old (but still work perfectly fine).

I was a little underwhelmed to be honest, but perhaps I was expecting too much. Size wise these are almost the same length and width as the originals, these are just slightly heavier than my old ones but not by much. The design though is different particularly the joint at the end where the 2 prongs meet. When closed there is a very slight gap on one side of the plates (closest to the hinge) so you have to squeeze them together to get them fully flat, whereas on my old original GHDs they meet without squeezing. It may just be my old ones are worn in (I can’t remember).

These heat up quicker by a few seconds vs the old ones. It may be important for some but personally the extra few seconds with my old straighteners really didn’t cause an issue. So, yes, quicker to heat up but it’s not that big of a deal.

In terms of actually straightening my hair, I didn’t notice any difference. It took the same amount of time and the end result was the same, I wouldn’t say it was one stroke for me. Talk of high definition is just marketing and sales talk.

My old straighteners are still going strong after 10 years. If GHD still manufacturer to the same high standards then these should hopefully last a long time too (although my old ones are going in the bottom of the wardrobe as backup just in case, and also to take on holiday etc instead of these newer ones).

If you don’t currently have a pair of GHDs and want the top model go for it, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed as they are good. If you already have GHDs and are thinking about getting a new pair I probably wouldn’t bother as they aren’t much of an upgrade.

This is my first time using ghd straighteners – they are a high-end product and I was never sure if the cost can be justified. I have to say now that I have used this new model, I am absolutely delighted.

The product comes beautifully packaged in a stylish-looking box (although my box was not sealed – not sure if this is standard?). They are easy to use and there is no setting up involved – just plug in. There is only one temperature setting, which I guess makes life easier as it’s the optimal setting and let’s face it, in my old straighteners I only used one setting anyway!

They heat up super fast (unlike my old ones!) and play a little beep to indicate it’s ready. I am not a seasoned hair stylist but I found using them fairly straightforward and easy. They are light and comfortable to hold, and I love the 360 degree swivel cord which just makes everything so much easier.

In addition to straightening, I’ve watched helpful hair styling videos for tips on how to achieve a wavy look and I am delighted with the results. My hair looks so much smoother and shinier, I love it!

Delighted with the quality and results, I know this is a pricey option but I think it’s worth it.

Firstly, i was very disappointed when this hair iron arrived. It wasn’t sealed and it was used as it was very greasy and i saw lots of small hair inside. But the good thing is, its working and quality is amazing. No doubt that this is a premium hair iron. I’ve been using this for a week now and i didn’t experiencing any hair strands pulling when i run it on my hair, it’s so easy to curl and straight as this heats up quickly. The power button is inside and its on the right location, I hate when they put it on side as you can accidentally turn it off. This is amazing its straightened and curls your hair almost instantly in 1 stroke and it last long. Love this hair iron!

    Hope my review was helpful

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersTaking these out of the box, they immediately feel quality. Really well made & just nice to handle & work with.
The cable is nice and long, that always helps.
The plates are only a modest size, but do heat up exceptionally fast….faster than anything I’ve tried. Only one heat setting, that’s not so good, having the option of lower heat could prevent damage to your hair.
Considering these are very expensive, no gloves or heat mat was included. There is a very handy, protective silicone sleeve for storage, but you can’t use that while working with the straighteners.
The auto shut off is set to ten minutes, rather than 30, I’d say if you’ve wandered off for 10 or more minutes, maybe even forgotten it’s switched on, the 10 minute thing is a good idea.
Does give really good results, but one heat setting….??

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese hair straighteners are the best straighteners my partner has ever used. The quality is outstanding, they’re easy to use and they straighten her hair perfectly.

In the box you receive the straighteners and a heat proof rubber plate guard.
These straightens look very stylish and just oozes quality, as you’re expecting from GHD, they feel sturdy and very well made.

Using them is very straight forward. Simply plug in, press the power button on the side of the straighteners and a white light will turn on around the power button and the back end of the handle.
They heat up very fast (20 seconds) so you can pretty much start using them right away.
They also have a sleep mode which kicks in after 10 minutes of not being used. The shut down tune will play and the white lights will start pulsating to show that they’re in sleep mode. To turn them back on, you just press the power button to wake them up. All very easy to use!
Also, the cable is on a sort of pivot hinge so as you’re twisting and turning them, the cable doesn’t get tangled up around the straighteners.

The rounded edges and smooth plates are supposed to give your hair 85% more shine, 2 x less frizz and 3 x more breakage protectionwhat ever that means.
My partner said she likes that they’re a little bit more chunky and rounded than her old ones as they help to curl her hair much easier and give a slightly bigger curl.
She said they’re very easy to use and will make it much quicker to style her hair in the morning.

Overall, these are fantastic hair straighteners. The quality is great, they’re easy to use and the end result looks fantastic.
My partner said she would absolutely buy GHD straighteners from now on, no more cheap alternatives for her.
