I watched a number of reviews of this drone before buying so I understood what it was, and what it wasn’t. It didn’t disappoint. If you’re wanting an automatic camera-person to film you doing stuff then the lack of learning curve makes this so good. You can do a little bit of stereotypical drone footage but if the sort of thing you a wanting predominantly is soaring landscape drone stuff then this isn’t the drone for you
The drone itself, I’m a YouTuber and I make videos for a history channel that I own. I find it very useful and it’s very easy to carry. Great control and perfect gift for any tech lover.
If you are expecting a DJI type drone this is not it. I have several DJI and they are superb but this is totally different. This is for quick holiday video/photos etc. Or sporting shots like mountain biking / running / skateboard etc. Quality is good. Would I recommend it??? Yes definitely but make sure you have the right purpose in mind
Completely caught off guard as to how good this product is, its a camera man in your pocket, I was lucky and finally convinced when it became a lightning deal, but worth every penny with the voucher too. With further updates coming its only going to get better, go on you know it makes sense, treat yourself.
It has several different modes depending on the content you want to create and it takes off and lands in your hand. I will warn you that upon first look it does not look worth the money, but whenever you use it, it justifies the price tag in no time.
It allows any solo adventurers in the world to create amazing hands free drone shots from just about anywhere and the small size means you can take it on long hikes without any hassle.
So easy to get initial shots – and a certain amount of control over ‘preset’ parameters is possible. I have started t experiment with custom flights – I would prefer it if every shot was NOT a selfie!
Also it is frustrating that it has a very slow charger – obviously it is very particular about which electrons it allows to enter the battery, but from minimum to maximum it takes over 3 hours – and, if using the trin charger, charges one battery first, then moves on to the second one!. Just so frustrating.
If you’re concerned about potentially damaging the HoverAir X1 in your pocket or if packing for a trip, you will be delighted to know it exactly fits a standard 3.5-inch drive case! – Problem solved for a few extra pounds.
Overall
– Do I like it? – YES.
– Do I love it? – Not sure yet.
– Can it get better? – I’m sure it can – and hopefully will be in the firmware updates soon!
– Would I swap it fo a refund? – NO
The app is pretty self explanatory and it allows you to get connected straight up onto the drone itself however you do need to make sure that you’ve got the most up to date version of it as I didn’t previously and it wouldn’t work so a simple case of updating it meant that I was able to get flying very quickly.
It’s one of those drones that’s virtually impossible to break due to the fact that it has huge cages that are around the propellers and even if it hits something like a tree or branches those don’t tend to go inside and break off the propellers so it’s pretty easy to be able to just pick it up and get flying again even if you aren’t the best at flying straight away you should be able to use this and learn pretty quickly through mistakes.
One of the most fun bits though is when you let it take off from your hand directly and then have it follow you as it has full tracking capabilities and is able to just follow you along whether you’re walking, rolling, or on a bike.
For the right use case, this is simply brilliant!

Out of the box and downloaded the app. Wouldn’t connect. Two hours later and gave in. Emailed customer support and received this:

1. Press both the X1 power button and the function button for at least 3 seconds until the LED indicator turns blue, then the X1 will re-allocate to your new cellphone.
2. Restart your Hover X1, the App first.
3. Can you please confirm if you received any error message/ error code from the App? If so please let me know its detailed content
4. If step 2 fails, please let me know your current phone’s brand, type, and system version.

Now to get to grips with it and film some clips!
My first recording was in quick time but on downloading it played at the correct speed. Great little drone for the money, easy to use and will be perfect for our upcoming adventures.
