Honestly delighted how easy this was to set up and get going. The tower we replaced was 14+ years old and delayed getting a new one due to the fear of setting it up. This was brilliant and excellent value for money. Wished we’d done it earlier! Amazingly quick.
I recently purchased this product, and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. I was torn between this desktop and the latest Raspberry Pi 5 for streaming and watching videos on my TV. Ultimately, I chose this desktop for its superior CPU, RAM, and SSD at an excellent price point, offering significantly more power than the Raspberry Pi, albeit with the trade-off of being bulkier and heavier.
On the downside, the desktop is quite bulky, measuring approximately 55cm and weighing around 7kg. Additionally, it lacks an HDMI slot. However, this issue is easily resolved with a DisplayPort to HDMI cable, which costs around 5-10. The desktop also includes a USB dongle for Wi-Fi connectivity.
I installed Linux Mint on the machine, and so far, everything is running smoothly. The PC performs exceptionally fast. For the price of 110, it offers outstanding value. While it comes with pre-installed Windows 10 Pro, I opted for Linux Mint, which is better suited for older or budget PCs. Moreover, Linux significantly reduces the risk of viruses.
In conclusion, this desktop is an excellent purchase for its price, providing robust performance and great value.
Bought four of these for a test project; three were in immaculate condition but one less so (struggles to boot at times, has it’s rubber feet missing and few scratches). The supplied SSD’s are junk (replaced with Samsung EVO) and all the firmware(s) required to be manually updated. Also noticed all the power supplies are noisy; constant coil whine but they are still working. Amazing value for money though.
Starting with box and delivery: On time and in a well packed and padded box, although not the actual box HP delivered it from the factory. No problem unless it is intended as a present. Power cable looked brand new with the plastic prong-protector cover still on it.
Longtime and serious fan of HP computers. Historically no personal data disasters and came bundled with brand-own security and self-test functions. Not that modern computers actually need it. If hardware fails you know about it very quickly!
My old HP machine was starting to show its age. An older (single core) processor and only 4GB of ram. Not quite cutting it in today’s world – not without shutting things down between jobs. “Task Manager” showing the processor at “100 percent” on video processing and display alone.
(This 16GB machine rarely gets to 50 percent – but please note I am not trying space-age high definition video or 3D rendering tools.)
Not without fear and trepidation I went down Reconditioned Street. A little like buying a secondhand car without a short test drive. The obvious main attraction being a third of the price of a new bottom-of-the-range HP model. Which probably wouldn’t perform a great deal better when it comes to my own personal needs.
This machine boots quickly (no messing around setting it up – just opens in seconds) and lightning quick. Near silent in use. The case was clean and without a single mark. WIFI is in the form of a dongle. Make sure you find it and plug it in before boot-up. Sure to catch out a few younger people who think everything has WIFI built-in and always has.
The only really negative thing I would say is that it is not actually that compact. Only slightly smaller than the last model I owned. Not that it is going anywhere. No onboard SD card reader either. HDMI is NOT available as standard – but that can be cured for extra cash. No problem for me as my monitor takes VGA and HDMI.
(Sale conditions state that these “100 percent aesthetic conditions” I describe can’t be guaranteed for every model sold).
Continuing on the subject of dongles: No name or make and came in a small plastic bag. Found it to be just as good as my old (expensive) Netgear equipment. Naturally direct line in (via rear Ethernet socket) will give you the best possible connection. A small tip is to buy a USB extender cable so you can take the signal higher in the room – can add a bit of punch to your online speed.
Not a gamer or user of high powered video editing software (and the like) but I guess it would probably be falling short in that department. The software I own and use runs very well – even the older software. Onboard DVD drive (last of the Mohicans) being a real plus.
(Don’t think you can upgrade this computer to Windows 11 – not quite enough spec – but don’t quote me on that.)
Totally satisfied customer in terms of price and performance. Serving all my (power modest) needs very well. If I had my wits about me I would have gone down this route a year or so ago rather than limp-on with my occasionally grinding and hanging older HP model. Really upped-my-game without spending a small fortune.
The PC arrived modesty well packed, and as described though the WiFi is a separate USB dongle. Ignoring the installed software (I immediately replaced it) your money gets you get a computer that is at least a good handful of years old with the odd mark on it. That being said the inside was spotless and the machine worked faultlessly out of the box. From a performance perspective you could simply look up comparisons with other processors, but subjectively (in my use case; programming, light CAD and office tools) this is a good machine that feels snappy and responsive. A good buy from my perspective.
First of all it can run basic games like geometry dash but I would recommend for more gpu intensive games I would get a gpu and also invest in a new case as well
Hp elte refurb , Replaced fault strewn Del, couldnt fix,, HP refurb did the job! ,came with win10 no problems , plugged in switched on happy . saved a ton of cash would buy agai
Things didn’t start very well. It arrived late, BSOD on first boot. I found a WiFi dongle in the back, this was removed and the unit booted fine . The dongle was put back into the usb socket but there were issues, it kept disconnecting from the wifi, wouldn’t download anything and YouTube was lagging and stuttering. I took the WiFi dongle from another machine and that cured all the problems. Unit is fast and seems stable. It is a back up for music editing with Sound Forge which runs very well on this machine. So overall I am very pleased for the money.
Beware output to monitor is VGA or display port only, there is no onboard Bluetooth and it will not officially update to Windows 11.
Good value for money.
This reviews is based on the supplier Compuclear. Though it was described on the amazon site as Refurb IT, it was delivered by Compuclear. The machine works well. It is not for gaming. But it is good enough for all usual stuff. My son bought some extra stuff like GPU and set it up for gaming. The good thing is it has the slots and room for upgrades. So its worth. In addition the supplier is customer focused and deal with you decently and always there to help you. A good purchase experience. If I go for another used PC I would definitely go back to them.
This arrived promptly , well packed. Worked straight out of the box with all the latest updates to Windows 10 so I didn’t have to waste my life waiting for that download. Would recommend.
I wanted a PC to use as a video player in my lounge. This is perfect for the job. Even today a 6th Gen i5 is still quite a capable processor (Windows boots in seconds) and the overall HP build quality is excellent. Being SFF and matt black it looks quite smart next to my TV. Condition is almost like new, I assume these units spent their working life sitting on a desk in some office somewhere, but they still have a lot of life left in them. I have worked for companies that cycle out their computers on a 3 year basis and send perfectly good machines to the scrapheap, so I’m glad to be able to give this one a second life. Comes with win10 pro which is worth most of the purchase price on its own (I assume each unit originally came from HP with a digital license so the original purchaser absorbed that cost).
Only things to watch out for: it tells me it doesn’t support Windows 11 which to me is no great loss, I hate windows 11! Also as it comes this wouldn’t be much of a gaming PC, although it does have slots for a graphics card if you wanted to fit one. Finally make sure you have Display Port cables as that is the only video output (2 of them) and actually shows how these machines were originally aimed at the professional market..
As expected. 100 working. SSD I think is new – slightly smaller than advertised – 480GB Adata rather than 512 but that’s fine for me. Very clean inside and out. Wifi is via usb dongle
PC arrived, well packaged, day after order. Item as described, and looks “almost” new.
Wi-fi via supplied dongle, worked without problems.
Tried the machine for a month before submitting a review and have not had any issues.
Great value for money and would buy again if the need arose.
