This heating mad arrived rolled up in a cardboard box with its accessories and a decent sized comprehensive manual (see pics).
The mat unfurls to a good 53cm/20.75″ x 25cm/10″ size suitable for a large seed tray or propagator. I used mine inside a made-to-measure DIY frame (see pics).
In use, the IP67 rated mat pulls about 7W of power, so it’s quite frugal. The temperature units are selectable between C and F. The temperature sensor has a good length 2m/6.5″ lead with a suction cup so that you can put it within your propagator to get an accurate temperature read/control.
The controller is a bulky affair in order to host a mains plug plus the LED display. It has a small hanging eye for wall mounting if required. Both the lead to the mains and the lead from the controller to the mat are about 1.75m/5.75ft long.
The manual is really good. Apart from the operating instructions, it has tables giving optimum temperature for germination of different types of flower. The mat itself has a table giving germination times for some vegetables etc.
Pricewise, this kit is on par with other offerings, making it reasonable value.

In Summary, a good heating mat kit at a sensible price.
Great quality heating mat that is ideal to use in late winter and early spring when you are starting your seeds and seedlings especially when it comes to chillies and peppers that warmth to germinate. (sadly I was too late this year so no chillies for me) The temperature seems even over the mat and the thermostat is working as it should. Can’t wait to get an early start on my seedlings next year with the help of this mat.
Was a bit concerned at first that the heat seemed a bit patchy, hotter in some places than others, but have never tried mats before so didnt know what to expect. In the end I didnt put the covered seed trays directly on to the mats, I raised them slightly above by standing them on small grill trays. I think the mats have definitely helped with growing the seeds and I now have some decent sized seedlings doing very well in little pots without any added heat. If the sun was shining into the conservatory in the day, raising the temperature naturally, I only used the heated mats at night. You do have to be careful not to let the compost overheat but overall I think the mats have been a good buy.
Top quality, the plug does stick out and isn’t flush to the thermostat but it doesn’t cause any problems with use. Mat works like a dream, I use mine for rearing tarantula spiderlings and it’s perfect laid up against the wall. Top value for money for this set, easy to use, nice bright digital display, and perfect size!
These are great heatmaps and you can easily fit a standard sized gravel tray on them. I love to grow chillies and sweet peppers and these mats are essential in keeping the heat levels up, giving much more chance of germination. I use them in the greenhouse every so often as well, when there is an unexpected cold snap. It just stops the roots of the plants getting too cold and stops them from being killed off.
