A Mind-Bending Premise

Jeff Wadlow (director) credits blockbuster horror producer Jason Blum with inspiring him to explore the frightening world of IMAGINARY. The story’s mind-bending premise provided Wadlow with the opportunity to upend some favourite horror tropes e.g. a troubled family moving into a new/old house

Delivered in efficient likely time. Captured the interest after viewing excerts on trailers had making of good one, another creepy entry plot is clear as day, core concept is solid enough, normal jumpy scares, watched alot horror films to realise nothing new somewhat predictable is occurring, it’s potential is lost in clichd story that got bogged down in building world, acting is well. Nothing is what it seems than thought.

I really liked this film, it’s more like the horrors of old then all the slower burn psychological horror that is more popular today.

However I do think this film is more suited to the younger horror fan. I was surprised to see the 15 certification, I would have rated it PG-13 at most. For all the jaded old horror fans the scares may seem a little tame. It’s a shame because there was potential for a truly terrifying film here. With an 18 certificate Chauncey could have gained cult status along side the likes of Freddy Krueger and Chucky. But still very much worth the watch.

I watched this movie on 26/4/24, I liked this movie, thought the movie was a bit wired, a bit scary and i really didn’t like that bear called Chancey, made me shock when he moved too, I think this is one of the better Blumhouse movies unlike Five Nights at Freddie’s.
