LORDISE Beginner Crochet Kit 4 PCS Cute Different Penguins, Complete Crochet Kit with Crochet Hooks, Accessories Kit Starter with Step-by-Step Instructions for Beginners Adults
This is a good kit, comes with plenty of yarn and instructions for each animal.
This is NOT a kit for absolute beginners! If you’ve never crocheted before, go get yourself a cheap ball of yarn and a crochet hook from a craft shop and watch some YouTube tutorials first to get the basics and understand written instructions in the pattern.
Having said that, I managed this ok as my first kit, and completed a slightly wonky koala, a very wonky penguin before getting used to the stitches and making new ones which worked well!
One other thing, the hooks with this aren’t great, they’re really tiny and do not work with the fluffy yarn! Ended up buying more to be able to use it.
This is a great beginners crochet kit with cute floral designs to make. The set is comprehensive and comes with various coloured yarns, hook, needles, wire and the instructions. It does take a while to get into it and to figure out how to start especially if you are a total novice so it is important to remain patient. The kit provides instructions in the form of both paper and also there is a QR code which links to a video with instructions. The colours of the flowers are really pretty and this kit would also make for a great gift/stocking filler.
Lovely little crochet set, which contains everything you need to make four super-cute penguins. Plenty of yarn etc and I think it’s good value at its current price considering everything you get and that it makes four gorgeous items.
There are written instructions and video instructions too if you scan the QR code. I appreciate having both of these as different people learn best in different ways.
Although it’s pitched as a beginners set, I would suggest that, if you are a total beginner (never done crochet before) you may want to try something really simple. This isn’t a really advanced set, but I think you can get easier things to have your first couple of goes at, then move on to this. That said, with the aforementioned two different types of good instructions will mean that I’m sure some total newbies would still be ok with it.
It comes nicely presented/boxed too – would make a great Christmas gift/stocking filler for a penguin lover who’s into crafts/wool work.
I’ve been a crocheter for many years, fortunately it is a skill that came to me quite naturally so i know that the technique used to make the penguins in this crochet kit is called amigurumi which if is something you can master as a beginner then you are lucky. It’s not impossible and the stitch used is one of the most easiest ones so at best, i would class this kit more ideal to improving beginners because amigurumi is quite fiddly, stitching is worked quite tight and evenly then there is all the stitches and counting to get used to as well.
Aside from the skill classification, this kit is pretty good. You are supplied with all the materials, instructions and equipment to make 4 adorable little penguin figures. There is enough yarn supplied (acrylic) which is easy to work with, i believe the gauge is double knit (no information) and all different colours are supplied to make all the required detailed elements. There are two hooks provided – 2mm and 3mm, which is the smallest i would go for this gauge yarn, it is important to use the smallest hook possible for the yarn when working this type of crochet to get the tight finish.
All instructions are supplied, including crochet essentials and the patterns for each of the penguins. It should be noted that the terminology used is US terms but is what i use anyway. The patterns also include QR links to online tutorials which are clear and helpful. There are some eye details included, and while these are toy safety eyes, the securing backs have not been supplied so the eyes can be removed which is not ideal for young children. The eyes could also potentially fall out, fortunately i am able to replace these with my own backed safety eyes but i feel these should be included.
All in all, a very good kit, well put together and is a decent gift solution for someone who can already crochet or wants to improve and make amigurumi toys. For me, 14.99 (at the time of review) feels acceptably priced for what you get, i already have all the usual tools and materials to know the value but for someone without would appreciate this kit.
This is a fabulous crochet kit that gives you everything you need to make six little flowers in plant pots.
I find crochet very relaxing and although I’m not a beginner, I’m certainly not an expert. The instructions that come with the kit can look daunting at first but there are QR codes to scan that can direct you to tutorial videos if you need any extra help.
With everything included in the pack, I think it’s a lovely gift for a crafter; both someone new to crochet or even someone who has crocheted before.
This is such a cute set of small crochet animals, it comes with everything provided, they are a little hard for a total beginner though in my opinion, even with the video tutorial.
There are 4 creatures that can be made using this set and each one has its own instruction booklet, set of yarns, safety eyes and keychains with a bell attached.
The box also includes 2 soft handled crochet hooks, wool needles for finishing off your work, a needle threader, stitch/row markers, a set of snip type scissors and 2 glue sticks
There’s a video tutorial via the QR code, that can be followed if this is easier than reading the booklet, or they can be used in tandem to understand the terminology used.
Each animal is filled with the Kapok type filling provided, and are fun little projects to make, this would make a lovely gift for someone who has learnt the basic stitches in crochet.
At 16.99 at the time of writing this review, it is a lovely, well presented crochet set, and my wife would recommend it.
You get so much in this little kit for the price, which makes it excellent value for money! I’ve had one of these kits before that had just one character to make and to get four for the price they’re currently selling this larger kit for is amazing.
The set has enough yarn, stuffing and eyes for you to create all four of the characters shown in the images (koala, rabbit, Christmas penguin, Easter chick). You also get all the tools/accessories needed in order to complete them (crochet hooks, needles, stitch markers, threader, scissors, bell keychains, hot glue sticks, instructions). It really is a complete kit!
The instructions have patterns that you can follow along if you’re confident enough and there is also a QR code link for video tutorials if you’re more of a visual learner. This is good as it gives you two options for getting to grips with making these. If you’re someone who is familiar with crochet and you’re taken by the cute characters you get to make, then you’re likely to love this kit. You may also give it 5 stars as I don’t think you’d find much in the way of any negatives from it.
If you are a beginner, however, you may find this kit to be challenging even with the video tutorials that are linked in. You really need to understand basic stitches and skills for crochet to get the most out of the kit and particularly as the chenille material they use – as lovely as it is – is tricky to handle as a beginner. The stitches are incredibly hard to see with this material to know where you are in a pattern and without the confidence of a more experienced crocheter, then you might struggle.
I knew this kit may be challenging in advance of ordering having had the single character kit before, but it’s fine for me as I’m pleased to say I’ve improved a little since so I really wanted to try the challenge of the other characters now that I’m more experienced. What makes this kit less than the 5 stars that it could be from me is that, just like the last kit, this is described as a beginner’s crochet kit. It’s just not that, despite them doing very well to provide help with their tutorials, and I really wish the kit makers would change their description to avoid any disappointment from those who may give up if this is their first try at crochet and it does prove to be too challenging for them.
Apart from the whole beginner suitability side of things, this is a fantastic little crochet kit!
