Bought for my 2 year old granddaughter. She loves threading these great colourful shapes and then making a necklace, which we all had to wear on Christmas Day! They’re perfect for a 2 year old who is just learning to thread and can be used to identify colours .

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this a few months ago for my two and half years old, who is very active.

Trust me when I say he sit down for 30mins doing this over & over again! It’s help them concentrate.

It’s great for learning colours also stacking up/ knocking down and he still loves it till this day 🙂

    I recommend buying !

Had to get a replacement sent as the paint on the beads was dreadful. When the 2nd set came there was still alot of bad paint work and dodgy holes. I just sorted through kept the good ones and sent bad ones back. Good sized beads my 2.5year old finds them very easy to put on string

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMelissa and Doug never disappoint on quality. My little girl however is just over 2 years old. She can understand the concept and can thread them… but instead she much prefers putting them on her fingers like you would with hula hoops. So far, with a bit of tugging, they’ve came off. As she gets bigger, I’d be scared that it may not be possible. Hopefully she grows out of that by then and is more understanding about potential risks. Might be why they are for 3 plus

Melissa and Doug is a well known brand and this is one of my favourite products of theirs. It comes in a sturdy wooden tray which perfectly fits the beads in a very pleasing way. It uses rainbow colours and has one colour of each type of bead. They are large enough that choking is less of a worry and can be enjoyed by children young and old. It is a great introduction to threading and works on their fine motor skills. I buy it for any friends who don’t have!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery cute toy. Bought for my 2 year old. Bought this based of another’s review who showed the beads next to an Xbox controller and felt safe that they were big enough for him to play with. Even with me sitting right next to him he managed to pop these into his mouth with ease. Some of the pieces are much smaller and definitely too small for him. If the pieces were bigger they would be better for kids. I think these would be more appropriate for kids even younger who can’t fit these in their mouth ye

Great quality. Lovely colours. Will keep our little granddaughter busy I’m sure. The only gripe I have is that the storage box it’s in doesn’t have a lid. Would be so much better with a lid so the beads don’t tip up everywhere. Other than that please with the purchase.

Nice wooden toy that keeps my child occupied. 4* only because quite a few of the holes in the beads in the middle were quite splintered making the lace/string that came with it difficult for my child to pull though as it kept catching on the splintered bits in the middle. Just needs to be finished off with some sanding.

My son has had lots of fun with these. They are colourful and good quality. I just wish they had a lid to go with the nice wooden box they come in.
Also some of them are a little rough and jaggered on the inside so sometimes the lace gets a bit stuck x

Great product for small hands. My 2 year old daughter loves threading with these brightly coloured, chunky shapes. Very hard wearing with no damage even after she has thrown some of the shapes across the room. Good for fine motor skills so I bought another one for my nephew. The only little niggle that I have is that it doesn’t come with a lid for tidying it away, so it needs to be stored flat.

Our daughter really loves playing with this however, the box doesn’t have a lid. Which means that once she is done playing with it and wants to put it in the cupboard, pieces fall out if she doesn’t put it away in a straight position. Which means that beads will get lost quickly, its just a matter of time. Shame because otherwise its a great product!
Even a simpel carton lid would be better then an open top.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our Users2 year old daughter loves these beads. Great size so no risk of choking, but also great for little fingers. Her coordination is improving so well since using this. She doesn’t just thread the beads, sometimes she stack them into a tower, or puts them into piles according to colours or shapes, lots of fun to be had. Also love that it comes with 2 strings, because her 6 year old brother likes to join in too! The ONE complaint I have is why is there no lid for this wooden box!!! Would of made a great storage box if they had added a lid.

The colours are really attractive and appealing. The beads are interesting shapes and are very well made. We bought this for our two year old and although she understood what to do, she found it a good amount of challenging and fiddly to thread the beads onto the strings and she has enjoyed playing with this as a result. We also think that she will continue to do so in the future too as it gets easier for her so that she can make necklaces or other more specific items to share with others. There are only two strings, which limits how many people could play at any one time and that could be a problem. Also, the box is not of the best quality and can’t be easily stored in a toy box or similar because it does not have a lid.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersA lovely quality toy. Lovely large colourful beads for little fingers to get a good grip on and good sized hole for the laces to thread through. The hole for the lace to go through is a bit rough on the inside and snaggs the laces a little. However it is easy enough to buy colourful laces from a sports shop, so not really a problem. My just 2 year old grandaughter loves playing with these, not only enjoying the skill of the threading, but playing with the “snakes” or knotting up one end and running about with it trailing behind, counting how many of each colour as well as how many there are alltogether,or just arranging in groups of colours Improves dexterity, teaches basic colours, counting and fitness with all the running around! She even likes to stack them. A really good toy. Just make sure if they want to wear the made ‘necklace’ you secure it in a way that will easily come undone under pressure in case of strangulation.
