I bought the Cubi N ADL to replace an old Intel NUC that became faulty and couldn’t justify spending a fortune on the latest NUC and didn’t want to gamble on some unknown brands this is where I stumbled across the CUBI N ADL which I feel is from a reputable and reliable brand.
The build quality is great, small and lightweight; from using it all day and it does the job needed and much more, I opted for the N100 model due to what I needed it to dois not performance hunger however If you’re looking for something to give you the extra umpft due to what I’ve experienced on the N100 I assume the i3 / i5 or i7 version will be just as good.
The unboxing was straight forward and it comes with all the key parts to get things going, AC Adapter, the device itself and I also found a VESA bracket and mounting screw In the box nice finishing touch. This bracket enables to mount the mini pc device onto a back of a monitor and an absolute godsend if you have a small desk like me.
Overall absolutely delighted with the device and can’t recommend it more if your looking for a NUC replacement.
The N200 has a low TDP of 6 watts which means under load it isn’t going to produce much heat. Overall power consumption is low so I can leave on all day. I have 2 of these set up as Workers on an Apache Spark cluster for learning, I have another MSI mini pc with a more powerful processor as it acts as a manager node running other services. For what I use it for it does the job great.
Needed an extra computer for house as son using laptop for school/gaming, seemed a neater solution than a cheap laptop as had monitor etc for my work laptop.
Added 8gb laptop size ram and 500gb m2 storage from Amazon which were delivered same day and got a Windows 11 licence key for ~10 from one of the grey market sites.
Needed glasses screwdriver a usb drive (8gb+) and access to another pc to use Microsoft install building utility.
Very simple to fit the ram and storage took me 10 mins to take bottom off slip them in as per instruction and reassemble.
Getting the usb stick ready took 40 mins or so but again very easy instructions from Microsoft.
Plugged it in stuck usb in and fires up to windows 11 build menu.
System does everything I need it for essentially instantly, spreadsheets, music, browsing and very quiet. All in costs about 235 and an hour of my time.
