I got this for my boys as they love bug hunting so I figured they’d think this was a cute idea to have a bug hotel. There are no instructions about what to fill it with so they went around the garden collecting bits of foliage that you would usually find insects running around in.

They were quite excited to keep checking at first but soon got a little bored when they couldn’t see much activity going on lol.

The actual house is really well-made and quite heavy. It is wall mountable but we have just stood ours on a wall as you would have to keep taking it on and off the wall if you wanted to look in the lid due to the lid sliding off backwards. My guess is it would eventually get dropped and smashed by the kids if they kept trying to do this themselves.

Overall, it’s a nice idea but I prefer my bird boxes where we can actually see them flying in and out. It also costs a lot more than a birdhouse but is much prettier. 4/5

Pretty little bug house thats made as a cast with a lid slotting on to finsh the look.

Seemed a little odd not to offer any filling but we have filled ours with lots of offcuts of bamboo so lets see.

Alternate use is as a nesting box as it wouldn’t take much to make a hole for a small bird – in fact Im tempted to do that if I don’t see any signs of insect utopia

Very pretty at a decent price

Cute is sometimes a word that can be insulting however it best describes the Muldale Insect hotel. This is not load of wooden bits bolted together but a decent size box with a sliding roof. It looks nice especially located near flowers and simply installed with a single screw. The key question is whether it will do the business and attract insects. I hope it turns out better than my last bug house that attracted a pile of rampant wasps!

A nice addition to the garden. It’s simply a small wooden box shaped exactly as it shows in the picture. Has a lot of small holes on the front panel to allow critters to enter and exit. Simply fill it with moss and twigs and allow nature to do its thing. The top slides on and off but it’s robust. Comes with fixtures to fit it onto a tree or fence in the garden. Good price

This is a lovely and highly ornamental insect hotel that cannot fail to enhance any garden or rural setting with its brightly coloured features and attention to detail.

With different shaped entrances, a whole range of insect species is catered for, from bees to ladybirds and butterflies. The sliding lid makes it easy to customise the interior with dry leaves, pine cones, straw and twigs, and to change and renew the contents as required.

Made in weatherproof resin, it is strong enough to withstand the elements and promises durability. The insect hotel is beautifully boxed and well packaged, so is unlikely to be damaged in the post if you are sending it as a gift.

All in all, this is a delightful product that is attractive both to humans and insects alike, so is guaranteed to please.

This is probably different from most of the bug houses or hotels that I have had before, but to be fair, most of them didn’t work that well, so I thought that this is worth a try, and it is certainly by far the prettiest.

I love that the lid is easy to slide off and that the whole house is made of a resin material with colourful flower designs on it and a multitude of holes to go in. It feels very sturdy and well made, much better in that regard than any of the others I have had.

This is more unusual in that they have been constructed using different materials such as hollow bamboo etc, whereas this bug house requires you to fill it with suitable material, I have as yet to see if this will work.

Mount the bug house in a suitable position, I have read that this should face the morning sun, but then be in dappled shade throughout the day, but investigate for yourself. Once mounted, fill your bug house with things such as dry leaves, twigs, moss, hollow stems, dead grass, pine cones or bits of bark.

I love this little bug house, it is really beautiful and will hopefully be an invaluable addition to any eco friendly or environmentally conscious household.

Love this insect / bug / bee hotel. The colours are really vibrant and will brighten up any garden or patio.

Came well wrapped and protected from damage. The outer presentation box was perfect to use if passing it on as a gift.

It is heavy and well made. I think it must be made of some sort of resin and so it should be rot-free and long lasting.

You need to find your own filling: fir cones, wood shavings, straw, bamboo, or a mixture of the above.

It has a hole drilled for hanging it from a a nail or screw.

The opening on the front of various sizes allow different bugs to use the house, but are small enough to stop birds getting in to feed on the bugs. The slits at the bottom should provide adequate drainage should any rain get in.

Overall I am very impressed with this item

So this is super super sweet – very well created and nicely presented in a cardboard box with classy printing – a great first impression. The item feels solid, but brittle so it was carefully protected by a lot of packaging in the box but to be fair I’d prefer that to receiving a broken bug house ! The lid slides onto the top and inside there’s plenty of space to put the various vegetation required to make the bugs feel cozy. The house as a whole is quite weighty so it needs to be afixed to somewhere fairly strong – a tree or wall rather than a flimsy fence !! There are two smallish screws enclosed for this purpose but I think it might need a bigger screw and a wallplug if its going into brick to ensure that it doesn’t fall to the ground (as I think anything like that and it’d crack). The painting is bright and cheerful and this would make a great gift to send directly from Amazon – no need to repackage as its all done really nicely. Its not cheap, but its a quality item.

As a nature enthusiast and avid gardener, I was thrilled to add the Attractive Garden Bee House to my outdoor space. This beautifully designed bee hotel not only adds a pop of vibrant color to my garden but also serves as a welcoming sanctuary for a variety of beneficial insects.

The thoughtful design features 6mm and 10mm holes, perfect for attracting bees and ladybirds, while the horizontal and vertical slots cater to butterflies and lacewings. I appreciate the extended roof, which not only adds visual interest but also protects the front of the house from rain, ensuring a cozy retreat for its tiny inhabitants.

What sets this bee house apart is its versatility. I love that I can easily slide the roof backward to customize the interior with leaf litter, tubing, and pine cones, creating a personalized habitat for garden insects. Plus, the bright orange, yellow, and pink hues make it a charming focal point in my garden, adding a touch of whimsy to the landscape.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The Attractive Garden Bee House not only enhances the beauty of my garden but also provides a valuable habitat for pollinators and other beneficial insects. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to attract and support garden wildlife.

We have quite a collection of different styles of bug house around the garden. At around 1.34kg in weight this is the most substantial by far. I do however wonder if it is suitable for the purpose as it is very different in style to the others we have in our garden, this one being completely hollow. The largest holes look too small for bumble bees which might like this larger space and solitary bees like leaf cutters might prefer the standard tube design. For hibernating insects it might have its uses but the shed I have fixed it to is far less exposed and insects seem to like it there. I have added some loosely packed straw in it and will wait and see if anything takes up residence, I may have to try different fillings.
The inside of the box is quite rough and around the inside of the holes there are some quite sharp edges, which feel a little unsuitable for delicate insect bodies and wings.
It is bright and very colourful and would be attractive to kids. Whether this colour is attractive to insects I don’t know but they seem fine with a plain wooden tube so they are probably not that bothered. It could I suppose be used just as a garden ornament.
At 30 it is far more expensive than a standard wooden one but being resin it should be bomb proof. Personally I would have spent that 30 on multiple wooden bug homes rather than just one as that would benefit the wildlife far better.
The item comes well packed and protected, unfortunately in expanded polystyrene which is a shame.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solidly built but I don't know if it is a useful as a normal wooden bug house.
