The main reason for choosing this over the Switch’s supplied dock is the letter’s size and bulk. It has never been very portable, intended instead to sit at home, while you take your Switch out with you. Which is all well and good, until you want to take it to a friend’s house. Then you have to cart everything around with you. This is small enough to fit into a large pocket and makes setting up anywhere much easier. So far we’ve not run into any problems with power or connection.

We recently went on holiday and both me and my son wanted to take a dock for our Switchs but didn’t want anything too big. This plug dock was the idea option, it allowed us to charge them up and when we wanted we just needed to connect the HDMI cable and we could enjoy it on the big screen.

The plug is well made, nice and solid, it worked well when used with an EU adapter too, I was worried it wouldn’t function but it was okay.

Great alternative to the larger docks and handy to keep in the case when out the house.

This adaptor is good. You can use it to charge your switch and also as a travel dock. The one I got was the black and white one. It’s ideal for when staying in a hotel or even a caravan and you don’t want to take the actual dock which isn’t actually that portable.

Lost one star as it does get very hot with long use.

The Nintendo Switch is a fantastic console, you can play it in hand, or dock to play off the TV. In theory you can take the dock with you on holiday as well, but this does not feel that portable, although we have done it. The ‘Switch Dock Charger Adapter for Switch OLED’ is a clever plug that does all the actions of the official dock in one plug.

Rather than having to move the dock, just take this plug. You do lose the ability to simply slot your Switch home, but you get the same functionality once you have attached the wires. It feels far more portable and saves you having to risk the dock getting forgotten or lost on holiday. I would not use this as my main dock but works as one to take out with you.

The video goes into much more detail, including overview of what it can and can’t do as well as full efficiency testing.

    However, in a nutshell:

    Things I liked:

+ Fairly efficient – about 85% efficient – so it won’t heat up too much when charging your Switch.
+ Works perfectly to replace your Switch dock – just plug it in and connect the HDMI port to your TV. Won’t work with Switch Lite though (it’s very, very difficult to get the Switch Lite talking to a TV).
+ Good quality throughtout – cable and charger.
+ Easy to adapt to USA/Japan plug sockets if you want to. Multi-voltage and simple to change plugs over.
+ Works with other devices too – you can use it to dock a phone, for example. My Samsung S21 FE docks with it nicely – 1 plug and you can connect power, HDMI and keyboard/mouse to the phone to have a full-on computing experience just using your phone.

    Things I didn’t like:

    – Nothing.

    Do I recommend it?

Absolutely. Great quality third party dock that works flawlessly.

The Switch and its OLED version are designed to be taken on the move, but the dock….well, owners will know this is not something designed to be easily carried along with the console. This adaptor is perhaps the craziest thing I have come across as a gaming accessory for the Switch and my word it is impressive. Not only can it serve as a charging adaptor for your console but it can also serve as a “dock” in terms that it can be used to send video signals to a TV or monitor utilising the portability of the Switch console. It can run hot if used for long periods of time but a means of being able to both charge and use a TV with your switch whilst travelling or staying in a hotel…this inexpensive accessory is by far the best I have come across and will be going with me along with my switch when I do travel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for travelling with your Switch Console

This device acts as an alternative to the Nintendo Switch dock. When connected to mains, you plug in your switch to the USB C port with the provided cable and then connect your screen or tv with the HDMI port. One USB port is available for controllers to be used which is less than the regular dock but for single player usage or where wireless controllers are used this isn’t a problem.
For general use, I prefer using the dock as it is easier to lift the switch out of the dock than disconnect the cable.
However this product is much smaller than the dock and so if travelling, will take up much less space. Also the device has a US plug and comes with a UK adapter.
On the whole perfectly usable but unless packing space is a concern, I don’t see much need for this product given a buyer would have a switch and dock already.

I wanted a charger for a while but could not only do my switch but my steam deck at the same time this fits the bill and I can charge them both even while playing without any loss of power.

Easy to use easy to set up decent Constructio

This is a 3 and 1 adapter compatible with switch that has HDMI with intelligent protection gan technology and it’s very compact as well. I just basically need to plug it connect the switch and that’s it.

What I like about it is the fact that it’s very small at the same as protecting my device. I can carry it everywhere and help me enjoy a high quality graphics gaming experience.

Something strange about it is the fact that it comes with an american adapter even though the product is sold in the uk but it has an adapter which can be easily attached in order to be accessible for uk plugs.

The connectivity with the switch OLED with the tv an hdmi cable is required and so far I didn’t experience any kind of issues in terms of signal or interruptions by any chance and also the charge speed is relatively high based on the tests that I’ve made.

Also the quality is also ok, the charger is solid build, stays properly in the socket and the cable that it comes with usb-c at even though it is a bit short, I cannot complain in any way about the quality of it which is as I would expect.

Overall, this does the job so for this reason I am happy with its functionality.

This is a small plug sized power transformer. It has a USB C connector for plugging in to a Nintendo Switch, an HDMI port and an USB-A output for plugging in peripherals.

The size makes it great for travelling. We have a portable 15″ monitor which would be perfect to use with this as it takes a USB input, and can in fact run from the power supplied by a mobile phone.
With a little problem, this device doesn’t provide much power through the USB-A port, not enough to power the monitor. This is a real shame as it limits the use to me of this device as a travel adaptor.

This weekend though, I did take this adaptor, and a mobile phone charger to power the monitor. It was good to be able to have the switch powered, use the monitor and play some games.

The adaptor did get quite hot whilst in use, about 40C. Which is a lot really given it was only powering the switch.

    Switch Dock

Great compact (6*3cm) plug in transformer dock designed for the switch. It combines the ability to charge the switch via USB-C lead (supplied) and has a HDMI output for playing on a big screen. Also includes a USB-A for optional accessory.

Great for travelling (~100g) vs the supplied switch dock – being much lighter and smalle

In essence this Switch dock is a USB-C hub and GAN charger in a compact package. So not only can this be used to dock your switch to your TV but it should also work with your laptop.

In the box you get the unit, a UK plug adaptor that slots on, a USB-C cable and small guide. The 3 pin plug slots on and locks in place. The foot print is nice and compact and there is very little over hang on the socket. And what there is is below, so it could be used with opposing sockets. Hooking up my switch initially nothing happened. I connected up my phone and tablet but the USB-C socket wasn’t charging anything. USB-A worked as it should. Connecting my USB tester I got a voltage but no current draw. I unplugged it, reseated the 3pin socket and checked the ports. This time it worked. So I tried the switch again and it worked, and has been ever since. As a travel dock this is a great idea and perfect for the switch.

The initial issue I experience is a slight concern. I haven’t been able to replicate it and it hasn’t happened since, so could be a one off. Otherwise this is a nice compact device

With a household of gamers one of the items being nagged for was this power charger because not only is it able to work as a charger for the nintendo switch it has a place to plug in the usb A, usb C and hdmi so now were able to link the switch to the tv giving a better play experience on the larger tv screen. As such this is a great piece of kit to go along and work alongside the nintendo switch console especially as its been specifically designed with a power chip to prevent overheating whilst gaming.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good link from console to tv!
