This is pretty clever. I’ve hooked mine up to Apple Home, and it’s just magnetically stuck to the fridge to toggle the kitchen lights. We also have a Hue switch on the other side of the kitchen and an Alexa that can do the same thing – but sometimes it’s nice to boop a button.
Very easy to set up. I had it as a switch to turn our island lights on and off. Magnet is ok but can be knocked off its small stand if not careful
Easy set up and use. Love the fact I can switch a bedside lamp on at different colours for time of day. Long press dims, and with the extra magnetic disc I can move just the button to my bedside. Simple and very useful.
I use this in my passage near the front door as an “all off button”, I hold it down when I’m leaving and it turns all the lights (hue) off to leave the house. Single press also turns the passage lights on/off – very handy
I love this little smart button. It is very easy to set up with your Hue lamps and very tactile with a nice ‘click’ on and off.
You can mount the plate anywhere to hold it or just leave the little button on the coffee table as we do and press to turn the lights on and off.
So small but effective. I have these dotted around the home to control lots of different lights round my house in so many ways. They can be mounted on the provided plate or just the button on its own depending on what you need. I purchased this one to go under a kitchen unit to provide those who want old school switching to turn off the kitchen hue lights. Brilliant.
I found the description of this unit less than helpful and took a leap of faith that it would do what I wanted when i purchased it. The instructions to set it up were practically useless but with a bit of effort got it recognised by the hub and it provides additional flexibility in controlling my lights. 5 stars for the unit and 1 star for the instructions.
I purchased this Hue smart button to control a monitor and video hub power from one small button. I assigned the button to an old unused (it broke) light bulb in hue so that I could configure it with no real function in the Hue app, then in my Home Assistant automation setup I set my monitor power (Controlled by a Kasso smart plug) as a toggle on short press and a toggle for my video hub ( HDMI switcher, powered the same) as long press. Long story short, this was what I needed to help with a home office setup and it works almost perfectly. In comparison to the Hue dimmer, the button functionality is much less useful and lower value for money. I wish the uk distribution would provide uk sized plates for this button and the dimmer, but they Philips Hue don’t and third party adaptions just don’t seem very good aesthetically.
It’s slightly ironic that these exist…seeing as we have smart lights to avoid the traditional switch. Ha!
However, these can safely (for the bulb) turn on and off your light/room/group of choice and also dim if held. Also, you can have them anywhere.
I got this as a test and set it to the rear zone of my studio. Sick of shouting at Alexa and this solves my issue quickly. I’ll buy more, for sure.
I’ve got a few of these now and they are ridiculously simple to set up, almost to a point where it’s boring to set them up now.
If you currently use something like Alexa or Google to control lights and don’t want to keep shouting at them then these work really well as you can place them anywhere.
I have mine to control the various lights that are required for feeding and changing our baby so we don’t disturb her too much and because you can set timed settings (so dimmer for 12:00am till 7:00am and lighter for 5pm till 10pm etc)
