Powered USB 3.0 Hub RSHTECH Aluminum 10 Port USB 3.0 Data Hub with 12V/3A (36W) Power Adapter and Individual On/Off Switches & LED (RSH-A10)
This is a well built, affordable powered USB hub.
If you have multiple drives and devices like I do, you can’t go wrong with this device.
Each USB port gets a switch and an LED, so controlling which device to use is a doddle.
Highly recommended
Really good for everything, from USBs to signal receivers (such as my XBOX controller’s receiver) with no lag!
The lighting on the dock is not very distracting, and only shows you if a port is powered on.
While charging on this is available, I do end up having my phone (Samsung S23) show that it is not fast charging despite my 20W charger showing that it is. It’s odd, but I primarily use the dock to charge wireless headphones more than anything else.
Otherwise, excellent for everything I use it for, and I’ve never had connection issues.
One big thing to consider about USB hubs is their reliability, and so I will update this review in a years time, if I’m still alive by then.
I bought this to replace my 4th USB hub that died, but this is the first powered hub I’ve purchased.
The buttons on the hub are very convenient. I don’t have to unplug hardware that I don’t want to use, and the dim blue lights per USB socket make it easy to tell what’s off and what’s on.
USB speed is fine and lives up to standard 3.0 speeds. I haven’t had any bandwith problems from USB crowding, which is great. The cable itself is long enough to reach behind my PC while the hub sits on my desk nicely.
As always, I’ve known all my good USB hubs to fail within a year, so I’ll update this review if something happens!
Just got the delivery, packaging, very good, little heavy but you are not going to carry a 10 port USB around. Bit expensive though you get what you pay for, Read some horror stories so not an issue. Some basic test on speed, connection, Good. Through put from my HD rack, 60m/s. From PC to rack, 60m/s. This is plug & play. Given 4 for overall & 4 for value. Will update later. Nice having the power switches, makes life easier, no need to unplug.
Happy, Yes, very, needed one of these ages ago.
Watch for update.
After years of flight simulator trouble with two very old USB hubs, with this USB3 hub all my problems have vanished. Every aspect of my flight simulator equipment works fine. I am totally pleased with this hub, it is perfect for my needs.
It is difficult to write a review on a piece of equipment which one hopes will last for many years. I like it as it is made of metal and it has 10 ports, I needed 8 so it as a bonus, another is that each port is switched and the final bonus is, it is powered so ideal for charging any units. The big question is “how long will it keep operating?” this I cannot answer, it is a bit expensive, but if it lasts a long time then it will be worth it. Recommended.
I will down grade this as of March 2024 2 or 3 of the ports are not working well and one the power will not stay on. As I am on a weekly basis plugging in and out various micro sd units I have found that often I have to select other ports to get the hub to read. I thought that for the money it would last a lot longer.
Disappointed, I will now buy different make. I am not sure what the warrantee period is.
Im using this for a gaming/work setup to replace an old broken 10 port usb i had. this one is much heavier with rubber pads on the base to prevent slipping. It also has a detachable power suppy and detachable cable that is a standard data cable, the standard often used for printers.
The cable that comes in the box is the length advertised, which i replaced with a 3m one so i could arrange my desk as i wanted. it works perectly with a 3M usb3.0 data cable, all 10 ports were tested using a known good device and all connected to my pc within a second of being plugged in. the lights are not too bright so wont distract you or catch the corner of your eye.
My old one was about 10 cheaper but the difference is night and day, im very happy with the device thus far.
Firstly, I would seriously recommend the 10 Port Powered USB 3.0Hub by RSHTECH, in terms of operational function, aesthetics and, ergonomics for the following reasons:
Packaging:
Very well packaged using quality materials and ample protection.
Fit and Finish:
The 10 port USB distribution block (Hub) has a nice weight to it and of a very solid construction.
Constructed from thick wall aluminium with low texture Polymer end plates. The case serves as an all over heat-sink, also.
The finish is superb, with clearly great attention to detail very much considered when designing and manufacturing the unit.
The lithographic printing is crisp and sharp.
All right angled edges including the USB sockets have a 45 degree chamfer that has a polished finish for a touch of design aesthetic that complements the overall quality feel and look of the hub.
Over the length of the monolithic aluminium block, three edges have a 3mm radius resulting in a smoother form more pleasing to the eye aesthetically, and gives a superior ergonomic overall feel when handling the case.
Two low-profile rubber pads are applied to the base, but they are not just stuck on; they are recessed into the monolithic aluminium block case, this just being another small detail that contributes to the overall quality impression of the design and manufacture of the Hub.
Cables:
The power brick supplied has a 3 Amp power outage which is more than enough to comfortably handle just about anything you like to integrate with your pc or laptop.
The USB3 Communication cable has a sturdy 5.61mm diameter, again more than enough in terms of built quality to handle as much data transfer from multiple auxiliary devices as you need.
The male power jack is 5.52 mm in diameter and both power cable and USB 3 Data cable are a very good fit into the device interface with no nasty wobbling; very secure fitting.
10 x USB 3.0 Outlet Ports:
Each port, as mentioned earlier has a small, neat, 45 degree chamfer that is polished giving great contrast against the overall satin black aluminium casing. This looks aesthetically pleasing, denotes quality, and additionally has the practical function of assisting when inserting a USB plug / device.
There is no wobble from the inserted USB plug into any of the sockets and thus provides a `just right` firm fitting that feels solid yet still easy enough to insert and remove a USB plug without dragging the device around each time a plug is inserted or removed.
Each port has a dedicated blue LED to indicate `power-on` state; this is not too bright to be distracting, but enough just to indicate that the port is active and powered. In use, either delivering power to a phone charger, for example, or data communication such as a USB flash stick, or in my case, something like a volume controller, the LED for the port in use will briefly flash `on & off` with data transfer active and stays solid when power is transfer.
The Leds are mounted behind a dark tinted section of acrylic so that a really nice slick and smooth finish and aesthetic look are benefitted from. The edge surface that the Power LEDs are positioned is formed as a larger 45 degree chamfer to the overall case which really does assist in observing the LED state regardless of eye level. In my case I have the 10 port USB Hub standing on one of the short edges as shown in the picture and because of the design it still allows for optimal visual indication just as much as if the hub was seated on the broader base face that has the rubbers recessed into.
The individual latching power on/off buttons for each USB outlet port feel very `positive` when operated. Again, something that impressed me as a small design and manufacturing detail, is that the buttons are very slightly dished concavely giving a positive finger registration when in use. RSHTECH have again considered the ergonomics of the design as well as the aesthetics as important factors when designing and manufacturing their product.
Overall Dimensions:
The length is 170.22 mm, the width is 46.07 mm and the height is 25.48mm (case) and 25.54mm overall height including the recessed rubber pads.
Each port has a 6.93mm diameter latching push button that protrudes 2.66 mm in the up (off) position and only 1.03 mm in the depressed and `latched` (on) position.
Overall:
I use the RSHTECH HUB with a Windows Desktop PC running the latest update 22HT windows 11 operating system.
Speed is important to me as I use large image and video files and multiple simultaneous transfers at the same time to Fast SSD and NVMe HDs; The RSHTECH HUB handles all my simultaneous data transfers flawlessly fast while also powering other peripherals at the same time.
As can be seen from my picture, I charge my phone, watch / I have USB C adapters for Headphone jack sockets / USB C Headphone sockets / Volume controller with additional skip / pause / play functions — I use a 9 button keypad that has 6 layers of shortcuts operations for different software packages so this is 54 separate key functions being handled. I charge my mouse and keypad from the hub and also use a Logi bolt TX/RX transceiver to communicate with the mouse and keypad. My RAZER RGB mouse mat is also plugged into the hub and both data and power are transmitted via the hub for the mat. I have my Garmin Fenix watch powered for charging and serial data transfer.
ALL THIS and still more additional expansion available.
When I write a review, I do not just say things like, great, awesome, just the job etc. I prefer to give in-use facts, figures, operational function, aesthetics and, ergonomics. This way a future consumer considering the product I review is therefore much more informed and enabled to form an accurate opinion that is reflected upon their purchase. However, as I first stated in the opening sentence to this review; I really highly recommend this product for Form, Fit, Finish, Overall Aesthetics, Ergonomics and Function. Price will differ depending on current trends and promotions, this said, I bought mine through Amazon with a promotional discount on a price point that I personally considered extremely competitive before the discount. This Hub has to be up there as being probably the best one I have tested to date. I am extremely impressed with this hub and would like to point out RSHTECH`s manifesto and vision as follows:
* At RSHTECH, we are committed to creating products with top-notch functionality and simplicity. We are constantly on the drive to learn, innovate, and always hear from our customers.
* RSHTECH was founded on the idea that it should be easy to use and manage all your computer peripherals through simple products.
Thank you for taking the time to read through my review, I hope it is helpful to you.
I decided to get this for use in my home music studio since the number of USB devices were starting to mount up and a few needing power as well. So far this has been a great choice, I like that each port has its own power switch and each has a led so you can see which ports are switched on. The only downside I have found is it could really do with a longer USB cable being supplied with it as the one which came with it is a bit on the short side.
Pros
Well built
Decent power supply
Decent length cables for most people
Mains power stops drives ejecting themselves
Works as advertised
Cons
While you can switch off devices individually, if your using it powers by the adapter , which prob why you bought this in the first place, it never switches off. So if you don’t want to power off attached drives individually, they stay on. To have everything power on and off with your computer , of course you can always not use the power adapter, but then you might not have enough power for devices and get drives ejecting themselves etc. Having a global power button would resolve this, rather than having to switch everything on and off that you likely want on all the time , such as hard drives.
Led placement is bad and you can’t see them, it’s actually fine for me as I hate blue LEDs they are distracting and prefer orange.
Overall I mainly have SSD drives attached and Midi data equipment, all stay connected, but it is annoyance having to power down three drives every time I switch my Mac off. As I need to use the mains power adaptor, there is no way around this.
A sturdy metallic hub case with a nice finish, well made switches (with a good feel in use), and electronics. It does it’s job very well. Providing enough power for most devices when fully loaded. The angled facia with LEDs is a nice touch and the blue LEDs indicate data traffic by flashing as well as power, and are not too bright nor dim – another nice touch.
For my use (at the back of a desk, behind a laptop stand), it would be easier to use if the switches were next to the LEDs in front of the ports rather than behind, as currently I have to reach around the back to press them; but it’s a minor issue.
All in all, for my needs, the best powered hub overall I’ve seen after much research and a few previous devices.
The website could use some work when registering the product for extended warranty.
