The RELI Birddy Smart Birdhouse is a real treat for bird enthusiasts looking to bring a bit of tech to their bird-watching. This birdhouse is a standout with its solar-powered camera and AI recognition, making it a breeze to identify your feathered friends.
I love the time-lapse photography feature, which allows you to witness the wonders of nesting and hatching in fast-forward. The WiFi connectivity ensures you can stream the birdie soap opera live, right to your device.
The build quality is eco-friendly and durable, with a design that’s both inviting for birds and resistant to predators and its well ventilated.
We have had some issues with solar not keeping up even though we live in sunny California.
Its expensive but It’s not just a nesting box; it’s an interactive experience that brings nature and technology together in your own backyard.
last month, our son gave us this birdhouse as a gift. We hung it under a tree in the backyard. For the past month, the solar panel has worked well, and the battery has consistently stayed at 100%. The camera functions properly, and after connecting it to Wi-Fi, we can clearly observe the inside of the birdhouse through our Cell phones anywhere and anytime. This birdhouse is easy to install and aesthetically pleasing, matching with the natural environment under the tree, becoming a beautiful sight in our backyard. We really like it and hope the birds will like this new home too.
Everything about this from packaging to build is super nice quality. We love birds and bird watching at our house and have kids that have really been into watching the birds nest this spring. The camera and accessories are all really nice. The kit comes with really good instructions on set up and use. There is a bit in here that helps to be tech savvy but it is all explained really well. You do need to make sure that the wifi connection is pretty good and the router is fairly close to the birdhouse to make good streaming connections. A wifi extender or mesh might be helpful for you to get the best connection like it was for me. Everything about this birdhouse would make it an excellent family gift and would be very enjoyable for just about anyone that likes birds or has children that would enjoy watching the hatching and watching of baby birds!
I have just received my birddy nest box. It apyto be well constructed with fist class matirels. But sadly there are some parts missing.. I can’t secure the two side doors, I am missing the drilling template and the screws and amcors and the charging cable. So will the supplier please send me all the missing parts. Thank you in advance.
Our family loves this bird house. I have used it as a tool to teach my kids about birds and how they nest. The camera runs via the Reli app. Here are the pertinent pros and cons:
PROS
-Clear images captured
-Videos captured for set increments when activity is noted
-You can listen in and/or view live stream of the house
– App stores videos for 24 hours and images/vid can be easily saved to phone
– you can receive notifications on your phone or watch if you choose
-different door hole sizes can be chosen based on which species you hope to attract
– different options are available for night time lighting
– battery life and solar charging have been great
CONS
– parts of the app have been unsuccessful for us (sharing the bird house streams with other devices)
– instructions werent always clear
I cannot say enough good things about this bird house, it has been wonderful!
I ordered this birdhouse because I was excited about the solar panel that charges the camera. That way, you don’t have to try to recharge the camera with a cord, which would interfere with the birds. I faced my camera south, and I live in a place with a lot of rain and moderate sun, and the camera has remained charged. The app is OK. It shuts down randomly and it also says the camera is offline sometimes. The app does a good job of sending me notifications based on its motion sensor. When I look at the footage, it is usually a bee. I was not able to attract a bird this season but hopefully next season. I am thinking about trying to get a squirrel to nest in it.
They did not include the 2 black straps to hold the birdhouse doors closed, so I used twine for now. I also purchased a micro SD card, so be aware of that extra code (they are relatively inexpensive).
I do feel like this bird house is priced a bit high, given that the app is a bit buggy, but cost aside, I think it is a good product.
The birdhouse comes preassembled , and all you have to do is to charge the camera and place it within the door hatch. Then you choose the appropriate door (small or large birds), and place the weatherproof plastic covering over the roof and fasten with the Velcro straps. Pick a location good for birds (information provided) and install the birdhouse on the provided bracket and screws. Before your birdhouse is placed in a location, download the app, and pair the camera with your internet. Then test various possible locations for best placement to connect with your internet. This camera has AI and will ID the various birds looking for a nice place. The camera quality is clear. I picked the small bird door as we have many chickadees and other small birds. All holes are pre drilled. This birdhouse is excellent and looks great. This bird cam performs well and is a great value for the money.
The technology is good, solar panel and camera are top notch and I don’t have any complaints. The solar panel has kept the battery at 100%, although we don’t have residents yet so it isn’t turning on at all. The app is simple to use and effective and it connected to our wifi easily. Again, from a technology perspective it is solid.
With that said, I so want to give this 3 stars, or maybe even 2. The camera is the only reason it has 4. The design of the birdhouse itself is absolutely ridiculous. I am not sure what they were thinking. For starters, there is this giant plexiglass piece that sits over the roof. I initially thought it was so some light could get in, but the access hole is for the camera and not the roosting area. It seems completely useless. on top of that, the way the doors open are kind of odd. The way they decided to latch the doors is pretty backwards as well. Instead of a latch, they decided on a strap that you feed through the plexiglass. By the time I got it painted (I will touch on that later) and hung up, I was ready to just send it back. What a giant waste of time.
I felt I had to paint it, I couldn’t find anywhere in the manual that the wood was treated, and in Colorado, raw wood wouldn’t last 10 months. Tried varnish, that didn’t work, so ultimately I decided to paint the whole thing green. I certainly made some mistakes because I was getting frustrated with the whole project. I still am not sure if painting was necessary but do feel that with the exterior paint it will last longer.
In the end, it is a cool thing for the kids and we are excited to get birds roosting. But… for the kind of money they want for this, they could have done a much much better job on the birdhouse itself. I think the money was spent on the camera and technology. If I had to do it again, I would look at something else.
This smart birdhouse is definitely something I’ve never seen before. Its a green colored with lots of natural wood, wooden birdhouse. The whole thing is solar powered and there’s 3 different ways that this can be mounted. It’s unusually large, way larger than what I was expecting. You do have to put some of it together and it would be easier if the directions were a little bit clearer. It’s got a side door that opens up, that I can’t seem to get to shut all the way. On the front is the opening, which would fit a whole variety of sizes when it comes to birds. And theres an app thats used for this house which not only allows you to live stream but it will help with things such as identifying the birds as well. My only issue with this house would have to be the price, it’s really expensive. So only a certain selection of people are going to be able to afford this.
This is an amazing way to see birds up close! My children love checking on our bird who’s made a home in this bird house. Every day we watch the progress of him collecting things to make his nest. This was also a very informative purchase. It identifies what bird has made a home in the house, and also comes with different entrance sizes to accommodate different bird species. The solar panel charge works great with this house. The only difficulty we have been having was with the app. It was hard to connect two phones to see the movement in the bird house, and when we finally got the house connected to the second phone, it would say error very frequently. I also do believe some motion is not captured, so I hope to not miss any key movements in the future that should happen.
I’ve always been fascinated by birds, but Birddy Smart Birdhouse took my passion to a whole new level! The design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also incredibly functional, providing a safe and comfortable home for various bird species. The AI bird identification feature is simply mind-blowing; it’s like having a personal bird expert right in my backyard. The live streaming and time-lapse photography allow me to witness the most magical moments of bird life, from nest building to fledgling growth, all without any interruption thanks to the reliable power supply. It’s truly the perfect gift for any nature lover or bird enthusiast. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase!
Completely and utterly satisfied with this super amazing Smart birdhouse. First, let me begin by saying that this one is simply the best I’ve ever owned. The fact that it incorporates smart technology and uses a solar panel to power it, amazing! I’m a huge bird watching lover, it is such a distraction from the busy and chaotic days of our lives. My family is thoroughly enjoying this new birdhouse. The design is very clever and it works flawlessly. From the time you remove this from its packaging, it is evident they used the premium material- very durably assembled. Much details were put into the creation of this birdhouse. Below, I will outline the factors I considered prior to deciding this would be the best choice for our bird watching needs.
*Design: Lovely natural looking birdhouse- solar panel- green is a great choice to encourage birds to come by
*Functionality: SOLAR panel- this is an excellent feature- AI recognition works great- includes time lapse photography and that is something that most do not offer. Love it!
*Purpose: Nesting – with the time lapse, it is an incredible experience- very educational also for the kiddos
*Provides real time viewing – camera quality is top notch – great clarity
*Material: Premium and durable material- Pine Wood and Acrylic
*Dimensions for your reference: 7.68″D x 14.17″W x 15.75″H with a weight of 13.64 lbs
*Target Birds: Bluebirds
*Assembly: NO – thank you
*Identify 1000 birds, which is impressive. Some say 10,000 but in actuality most of those are incorrect. This is more precise in actually giving you the right information on which bird is visiting.
*Birdhouse has been designed with a great “ventilation” system to ensure the birdies are comfortable in this environment
*Built to deter predators
*Drainage system – this is another feature you most likely won’t find on other nesting houses. They actually thought of everything.
All in all, I absolutely love that the designers put so much effort in creating a lovely habitat for the birdies to lay their eggs and we are able to witness this entire process. Not only making a nesting house, but ensuring that it works for the birds needs. Created to withstand the elements, I find this to be the absolute best of the best. Therefore, based on our IMMENSE pleasure in this birdhouse, I do recommend this to other consumers. It’s also such a fun family experience- my girls are super pumped. Thanks for reading my review. I hope it was informative and helpful. Have a lovely day! 🙂
Well, this is a very well built bird house with a pretty big twist. You are practically inside the little nest with them as they go through their lives at home!
We already have a camera setup built in to our humming bird feeder which is very cool.
So we are really excited to see what shows up in our bird house! I’m sure a couple right now is home shopping and our bird house is priced right for them!
There are more parts than you might think and the 2 minute video showing how to put it together is very optimistic. It’s not hard mind you but you do have to think what goes where. I suppose reading the directions would have been better but they were fairly detailed. And you actually can figure it out yourself.
I really like that you have an option to mount the solar collector on the roof or string it elsewhere with more than enough line to do so. We put the bird house on our fence with a bracket to hold it with the solar collector just to the left of it also on the fence in it’s own supplied bracket.
I think the one sore spot was that it comes with 2 velcro attached straps that you loop through the bottom and the top (the lid) and loop it back around to attach using the velcro.
I saw in the video where the guy had a simple hook to hold up the side of the bird house that swings open to clean out the bird nest. SO much simplier than messing with the straps!
As I said I attached the bracket with my own oversized lag bolts (4 of them) to the fence. I then used larger screws to screw in 4 spots underneath the bracket screwing into the bottom of the house. Again, I used a lot large wood screws than they provide which in my opinion are just too small. I could have visions of a wind storm blowing it into the next neighborhood!
The camera is a Samsung which speaks to the quality of the electronics. It shows everything where the birds will live side to side and front to back. That is great although it is a little of a wide angle so sides are a little stretched which is no big deal.
At night the infrared comes on and it switches to more of a black and white. Although you can turn on the attached light on the camera and light it all up! We look out the window at night and yup, that house is all electric!
You use your supplied app on iphone or android phones which has a LOT of options.
You have a 60 day trial to store your videos on the cloud. But if you buy an SD card, you can store it all on the camera in the slot provided. Maybe a more inexpensive way if you are getting a lot of videos.
So we have yet to have any welcome squatters move in but we are excited to have them come.
The only thing that does give me pause is the 300.00 price. I do think that this should have been offered at at least 1/3rd less. But it will give many hours of enjoyment for adults, kids and grand kids!
