The safety gate is Easy to install, I looks really good. It matches my decorating perfectly. The mesh is quite strong but I don’t think it would cope with dogs scratching or anything like that. I’ve got because we have grandson and it blocks the stairs but we don’t Need a safety gate all the time. It’s very easy to use just pull out and clip it to the wall, and it stores away inside itself so you don’t have a safety get up all the time. Only when you need it you can also attach it to the door so that when you open the door, the safety gate actually still block the door off so toddlers/ dogs cant run past you
Keeps pets out – not so much determined toddlers. Since there is actual blind is spring loaded in the cassette there is still slack to pull out once the blind/gate is in place over the door. Zealous toddlers just keep pushing. There is a lock to stop more gate being released but determination wins.
Younger kiddies and pets will be ok to be partitioned.
Whilst installation is easiest with STRONG self adhesive pads which are included be prepared to refurb your wall when you want to remove it. I would recommend the screws as these are easier to patch up after your kiddies are grown up.
This stair gate is really well designed with a sturdy mesh which retracts strongly and smoothly when not in use.
We started with the adhesive fixing method but decided to go with the screw option after a while. We have fitted this in an archway in the kitchen to be able to shut the dog in/out and it’s perfect for that.
I was impressed with the build quality, i think it will last a good long time.
I wasn’t sure before ordering if this would work … Pleasantly surprised by the speed of delivery, quality and how to video to set this up. I initially screwed the catch to the wall but because the gate pulls against towards itself as it’s rolls back.. the screw wasn’t strong enough to hold it as my wall is plasterboard. I switched to the sticky method, not thinking it would be strong enough but it does actually hold! So far no complaints. Takes a bit of fiddling to get it how you want it but for the price and the convenience of not having an hard metal frame in the way with traditional gates I highly recommend. I use it as a dog gate to stop dog going upstairs.. if you have a big dog who is inclined to push or jump over it may not work for you.
I ordered this retractable gate to use in the kitchen doorway to keep out pets while baking.
A great quality gate with strong fixtures and good illustrated instructions. There is an option of none drill or screw fixed fittings and also a handy video to help with installation.
There are lots of hints and tips for measuring and height adjustments and the gate was easily installed across a standard sized doorway.
I was concerned that the adhesive fittings would not be sticky enough but after a few weeks of use they still hold well. The gate pulls across and stays vertical without drooping , the mesh is soft if bumped into but does not give way.
It is a good height at 86cm – high enough so pets or small children cannot climb or jump over but can still see through and over it when standing . It would fit varying widths or stairs or doorways.
Easy to open and close , rolling up out the way when not needed or locking in place when it needs to be secure. No spillages yet but it appears easy to clean.
Everyone in the household knows when the gate is in place . A few times it has been walked into when taller people don’t look down as they are carrying items, although the smell of baking is usually a warning. ITs not low enough to fall over , although this might be more of an issue for adults on stairs.
A good quality , securable gate to prevent access or exit of pets or small children.
I’m very impressed with the stair gate as it is high quality and works seamlessly. It is easy to use and secure as it has the added benefit of a green or red colour to show if it’s fully closed and only takes the touch of the lock button so even if your hands are a bit full you don’t need any hand flexibility to ensure it’s locked.
I like how it is as close to the ground as it can be used to keep small animals from getting through the door as well as babies as nothing can get underneath.
I am glad it is a roll up gate too as it means it can be extended to cover a wider area if I wanted to close off just an area of a room I can as long as there’s something sturdy each side. Also I can store it away easily when not in use and it is fairly lightweight.
The adhesives stick to the wall easily and are very easy to fit. No need for hammers nails or handymen! And if I can buy additional adhesives for it then I can move it around the house wherever I need rather than buying multiple stair gates when I only need one.
The HUIYOPU Retractable Stair Gate is well made of durable materials and appears robust. Extending to a width of 140cm, the gate will fit most domestic stairs or doors. It has a double action safety lock that an adult can easily open with one hand, but that a small child will find impossible.
Installation is simple and comprehensive instructions are included. There is also a useful video on the Amazon page. The brackets can be configured for gate to completely cover gap or to be installed inside door frame or stair posts. Brackets can be fixed using the attached self adhesive pads or screws (supplied). The adhesive pads are strong enough to hold the brackets in place. However, as it difficult to predict when the adhesive or the underlying surface might fail, we decided to also use the provided screws to ensure a more reliable permanent fix. Once brackets are securely fixed, the gate can be removed and stored when not in use. A second set of brackets allows the gate to be used in alternative locations as required, e.g. top or bottom of stairs.
At the current price of 31.99, the HUIYOPU Retractable Stair Gate represents good value.

I’m pretty pleased with the
Retractable Stair Gate for Baby and Dogs. For me it is for my naughty little dog who loves to sneak out the door or start barking if he hears the next door neighbours
As my dog is only small it’s the perfect height and would be for a toddler too. But as it’s mesh albeit robust you would still need to supervise toddlers. Advised that it is not suitable for stairs especially upstairs!
I’m not very good at following done instructions and these ones did somewhat confuse me. But “no fear” I watched the video on the product page which was much easier to understand
The gate blends in quite nicely with my all white walls and I opted for the sticky back tape attaching which I left to stick into the walls for 24 hours to ensure a solid seal. Screws are included if you prefer and are worried about damaging your walls with the sticky tape which will pull off paper and paint when removed.
Easy to operate and lock and also well made. Much better than the solid gate I had previously given that this particular one rolls away nicely into the mechanism when not in use

This is a refreshingly original take on a stair gate. It’s remarkably versatile. Install it using screws or sticky pads, across the face of an opening or recessed into the opening. It covers any width up to 140 cms. It should therefore fit across most UK stairs or doorways.
Once installed, it’s very easy to use. And removing it completely, leaving just the brackets on the wall, is super-simple. The gate seems well made and finished too.
The mesh is strong. Kids will bounce off it and, unlike barred gates, it’ll stop small animals getting past it.
The price is reasonable and it’s hard to ask more of a stair gate. We’re delighted with it.
Wouldn’t call this a gate but more of a strong mesh/net the overall quality is excellent even if the little runs into it he wouldn’t hurt himself which I think is great.
The fact you get the option to use the adhesive or drill it in too the wall is great the adhesive is strong although I don’t think it would last very long with to much tugging or snagging bring drilled into the wall is probably the better option.
Overall very happy and I would definitely recommend this over the conventional gate as this can just be tucked away and is non-obtrusive.

I am still using gates ,especially upstairs as my kids.
They tend to be still sleepy in the morning so I prefer to have the gate for safety purposes.
Used to have the traditional one but it kinda bothered me as it will be there all the time whereas with this rectangle gate I can have it on when needed and off when not ,without blocking the area.
Super easy to install ,it can be done both using screws or just the adhesive pads it came with.
It also comes with stickers that helps you to mark the holes if decided to used the screws.
It has a locking system ,while locking needs a single pressing button,unlocking requires pushing both of them ,so it would be a bit hard for the small kids to unlock it.
Versatile ,good if you having small kids ,pets etc.

Excellent quality gate with a modern look.
Really do like the overall design of this, particularly the lock/unlock mechanism. It feels very secure in use, and while it’s never going to be as robust as the metal gate versions of course, it’ll certainly be enough for preventing the little’ns from escaping.
One thing I would suggest is to choose the colour for your particular positioning point carefully.
While you might want it to ‘blend in’ with existing decor, this may not be the ideal choice. The reason being that if you’re entering/leaving the room whilst carrying something (dinner plates and the like), it could be easy to forget it’s across the doorway if it’s not obvious, or in direct line of sight.
Having witnessed someone go ‘A over T’ in precisely that situation, I can say that a colour which stands out more would have been preferable.
It’s a good bit of kit, and with a price currently sub-30 at time of writing, it’s a decent buy IMO.
On a quality/value-for-money basis… 5-Stars.
This is a useful stair gate it can be used for young children or pets. ( we are going to use it to keep a young puppy in). It can be used in more than one place, such as the bottom of the stairs and the top of the stairs, simply by using the spare set of fixings supplied. It can be fixed to the wall by using the sticky pads provided or by screwing it onto the wall.
The gate itself is pulled out of the unit to the length required for your house, then attached to the fixing that you have attached to the wall. The gate itself is in black soft mesh type of material, mine is in black but it can also be supplied in white or grey. It’s a bit like a roller blind but round the other way. All appears to be in good quality materials.
This is a great easy to use stair gate. I have to be honest the instructions confused me a little bit I watched the video on the listing and it all made sense. So I recommend watching the video.
Follow them steps and you will have it installed in no time!
The only issue we now have is they are stuck to the wall using the sticky pads provided but the wall has wall paper so we are a little worried it will pull the paper off when it comes time to remove it.
Other than that it’s simple and effective. Another thing I like is that it doesn’t have bars like a normal one and my son loves pushing and pulling at the bars so I feel this could be safer especially if you installed at the top of the stairs.
This may also help if you have small pets that you don’t want fitting through the gaps.
