So far, so good with this Russell Hobbs bread maker. I’ve only used it for bread so far, but plan on trying a cake in it this weekend. The bread was really nice, and as the main reason for buying it was to make bread, then I am a happy customer.
It put ease into easy. Beautiful bread. Easy use machine. Quiet, put in ingredients and forget about it. Also very cheap to run. One of my favourite best buys. Love i
I have made several good-tasting bread loaves and the bread maker works well. It is not too noisy and has many different programs. The booklet is a little scant and there are some misprints in terms of the quantities of ingredients. We have used a bread maker book purchased from Amazon instead!
After a couple of poor loaves it actually works quite well. However it does seem to be sensitive to the order in which ingredients are added which seems odd since you are immediately mixing everything together anyway!. The recipe book does not have a recipe for plain brown wholemeal flour but their program number 3 seems to work. We simply replaced all the flour with brown bread flour.
If you have any problems, use the recommended program and recipe exactly as written. It does not seem to work if you use a recipe from for example a Panasonic bread maker.
If you use a bit less salt it seems to work just as well.
If you use sachets of yeast, they seem to work despite being a bit more than the recipe states.
Also you often don’t need quite as much sugar.
I never add milk powder and it seems to make no difference at all.
So basically start off with the recommended exact recipe and ingredients in order.
This machine uses the wet ingredients first!
Arrived before the predicted date but this was not a problem for us
The machine works well but we find the display a little dim (possibly our senior citizen status) Otherwise very pleased
The breadmaker is very good. I had a Panasonic previously which was also very good. Hiwever, when it comes to measuring, the booklet says 1 level teaspoon yeast = 5 grams. If you weigh 5 grams of yeast it’s actually 2 teaspoons. Using cooks measuring spoons. So which do you follow? It’s the same for all the ingredient measurements. Very confusing. My previous breadmaker included it’s own measuring spoon which I no longer have unfortunately.
I’ve been following the recipes but non of my bread is rising. All items used are in date and good so I am now following the problem solver to try to get better results. Nothing wrong with the taste of the bread it’s just too rubbery.
It works well and is reasonably priced. The only real problem is that the screen is too small and some of the lettering and symbols shown on it are too small and difficult to read.
Have used it twice since getting it – using pre-mixed bread mixes. The first time I tried the delayed start time but the loaf seemed over-proved because it was more an explosion of bread than a loaf! Second time I tried it, used the basic function and the loaf shape has improved although had dipped in the top. The viewing window also gets full of condensation which kind of defeats the point if you can’t see in! Apart from that, the loaves are pretty decent and for the money paid it’s value for money, just don’t expect perfect loaves everytime!
I spent time researching a bread maker that was a good price and simple to use- this is exactly what I wanted and this bread maker is perfect. It comes with the recipes for each type of program, just follow them and a perfect loaf every time. Takes about 2.5-3hrs for a standard loaf from start to finish. The pizza dough function is about 1.5 hours and makes lovely dough. The bread pan is easy to hand wash and the paddle has never been stuck in the bread once. I am only following the guides recipes and as I’m not sure if my own recipes will work and it advises against doing this. If you wanted to be more adventurous with your bread then maybe this is not the bread maker for you, but if you’re after a simple quick machine that makes every day bread then this is perfect. I cannot stand shop bread now, tastes awful after eating this bread!
I got this as a birthday present for my husband as it was what he wanted. It says that it comes with a recipe book but it’s more like a small booklet. When I came home to taste the first loaf he’d made it tasted very salty. It doesn’t need as much salt as it states in the booklet and what’s more there is a typo where the measurements for the flour and salt is mixed up- stating 545g of salt and 5g of flour! As a side note he hadn’t followed that particular recipe to make the salty bread! There are other typos in the booklet where someone has typed the correct instructions and stuck it over the error! Not a very well put together booklet at all.
The second loaf that has come out is nicer but, see picture, has a whole in it, like the first loaf, where the spinner gets caught in the bread and the bread brings the spinner with it when you take it out so it tears the bread. It talks about this in the manual and says to use the supplied hook but there was no hook in the box.
Luckily I bought him a bread
making recipe book which has some great looking recipes in it so will be using that as a guide for making the bread. Disappointed that the bread is torn though.
