ShieldGPS Hidden GPS Tracker for Cars & Vehicles – OBD Device for Tracking, Anti Theft, Fleet Management and Surveillance (OB22.)
This GPS car tracker is incredibly compact and discreet. It easily plugs into your car’s OBD port, allowing you to check vehicle’s location using your phone or computer. This is particularly handy for ensuring your car’s safety and preventing any unauthorised use. Despite its small size, once it’s connected, it remains unnoticeable. The tracker provides real-time updates on your car, refreshing every 10 seconds. You can even set up alerts to notify you when your car enters or exits specific areas. Additionally, you have the ability to review your car’s travel history over the past 6 months. If your car exceeds a certain speed limit, the device will send you an alert.
With your purchase, you receive a complimentary one-year subscription to the service. Afterward, you can opt for a 6.99 monthly plan or an annual plan priced at 59.88 if you wish to continue using it. This tracker is a valuable tool for monitoring and safeguarding your car, but keep in mind there may be ongoing costs after the initial year.
In a nutshell:
Things I liked:
+ Supremely easy to install (as long as you have your OBD port free – it’s usually located below the steering wheel trim on the ‘ceiling’ of the driver footwell, often near the door).
+ Works brilliantly.
Things I didn’t like:
– Not a criticism, but you do need to be aware that you get 1 year for free included with this device, then you need to pay 60 per year or 7 per month. They did use to sell the device and subscription separately (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08J3T6KJM), but that seems not to be an option anymore.
Do I recommend it?
Yes. Works great.
Good little hidden plug in GPS tracker, but only free for the first 12 months.
Easy plug and go, and monitor via App.
Acceptable delay on tracking.
This will need the OBD port to be free.
Perhaps the tags could provide the similar result for a fraction of the price.
ShieldGPS’s vehicle tracker is small, easy to use, accurate and versatile. It plugs into a vehicle’s OBD port and can then be activated via the manufacturer’s website (when you go to the site’s main page a button in the centre of the screen features the words ‘Activate Device’ – easy to find, easy to use). Once the tracker is activated and the app installed on your laptop and/or mobile phone, you can track your vehicle with precision. This is especially useful for tracking company cars/vans/trucks. The location-playback feature allows you to see where your vehicle was at any given time, going back a maximum of 6 months.
The tracker is compatible with any post-1999 vehicle. Earlier vehicles don’t have an OBD port, therefore they’re not compatible with this device.
I have no criticisms of the tracker itself. It works flawlessly. My only criticism of the overall package is that it comes with a 1-year subscription as opposed to an unlimited one. The first year is free, after which you have the option to cancel your subscription or renew it at either 6.99 per month or 59.88 per year. That subscription cost is something you’ll have to fit into your company’s budget if you plan to keep using the tracker’s real-time monitoring after the first year. If you’re running a large fleet of vehicles, the total subscription could amount to a hefty fee.
Nevertheless, this is an excellent piece of kit that does its job extremely efficiently and has some genuinely useful features.
This hidden GPS tracker is simple to install on the OBDII plug in my car. It’s plug-and-play and just requires app installation and a free account to be set up.
The app has many features and not only shows the current location of my car however can also go back in time to show where my car has travelled in days and go back up to a week. This is great to keep an eye on where my kids taking the car and can also spot where they are at the moment.
I was surprised by the level of accuracy as it shows almost spot on where the car is currently parked.
Excellent product and does exactly what it says.
The ShieldGPS Hidden GPS Tracker has proven to be a commendable addition to my vehicle security suite. Here are some key points that stood out to me:
Easy Installation: Plugging it into the OBDII port was straightforward and hassle-free. Even someone not particularly tech-savvy could manage this with ease.
No Subscription Fees: One of the primary reasons I opted for this device was to steer clear of monthly fees. ShieldGPS delivers on its promise, offering real-time tracking without the burden of recurring costs.
Stealth Design: As advertised, the tracker is indeed discreet. It’s not immediately noticeable, which adds an extra layer of security.
Accuracy: The tracking is fairly precise. It has given me peace of mind, knowing I can monitor my vehicle’s location at all times.
However, while the device has numerous merits, I feel there’s always room for improvement. The user interface of the accompanying software could be more intuitive. Additionally, a more detailed setup guide for those less familiar with OBD ports might be appreciated.
Overall, the ShieldGPS Hidden GPS Tracker is a solid choice for anyone looking to enhance vehicle security without getting bogged down by subscription fees. Would recommend!
This is a simple OBD port vehicle tracker that’s a convenient anti theft and tracking device and practically invisible unless you were aware of it’s location and usage.
Simply visit the website or download the app, I’d recommend utilising the website and selecting device activation, following the instructions. It’s a simple process, then just plug the device into your vehicles OBD port and begin tracking.
A lifetime subscription option would be a welcome addition, but I guess most revenue is generated by having additional subscriptions.
The device itself is largely manufactured of plastic and the free 12 month subscription, thereafter 59.88 per year, obviously is reflected in the pricing. Luckily the product is decent, which performs as expected, but it would be up to the individual whether to renew that subscription.
A good product that performs as intended, just bear in mind most of it’s aesthetic costs and hence apparent value, are due to subscription.
