I bought this due to the decent price and also decent reviews. Easy to install, good wide range view for such a small camera. Does exactly what it should.. only had it a week so still getting to grips with itonly giving 4 stars currently as when trying to connect via WiFi to download footage it can take a few attempts to make connection.. plus the voice activation is a bit of a mystery and no real instructions on how this function works
All in all.. if it’s a discrete device you’re after that does the job of recording footage etc then you will be happy with this dashcam.
Amazing mini-sized dashcam. Had no isssues apart from the power supplied to the dashcam would be interrupted due to the cable. Raised this with VanTrue’s customer service team through their website and received a replacement cable the following – free of charge – and now experiencing no power issues and satisfied with the product.
After researching on the dashcams for full 1 week, I selected Vantrue E1 lite. Shipping and delivery was fast. Installing it ins the car was easy and the performance of the camera is really good. I am satisfied with the product.
Bought this for my Mom’s car. It has brillaint features and the video quality is great. It’s a really compact unit so it’s easy to hide behind the rearview mirror.
The WiFi is great and the fact it comes with a small remote control to save videos is perfect when you’re driving. It means you don’t need to take your eyes off the road to save a clip, mute the microphone or take a picture.

I bought this dash cam and i can honestly i am not dissapointed the controller is so handy and makes life a lot easier to save important clips and the video quality is spot on as expected.
It came with a gel gel pad to fix to the window which in the very hot weather melted to the point where it would not stick but i contacted the company about the gel pad and the customer service was great.
They sent me different replacement pads and screen protectors for free as pictured which have been really reliable with no issues they took a bit of time to receive but they are definitely worth the wait if it’s a issue.
I would highly recommend this dashcam it is high quality easy to use and the app is a essential in my opinion.
Didnt know what to expect but the camera delivered. With 512GB MicroSD inserted, was able to record travels through Europe during holidays. Like the space-saving feature using time-lapse too.
It would be nice to have a beefier software application to sort through and edit footage but the basic software at least shows the GPS location of your footage.
Nice all-around device, can’t fault it yet.
Although small it still manages to have a screen which shows great clarity along with all the settings selected for your recording. I found the app well constructed and easy to use and connect to the camera. I have already had to download an incident so the camera has already paid for itself within a month of purchase.
Very good dash cam , it’s better then garmin in my opinion, is small factor, very good video quay, easy to use , this is quality product for sure , happy with order no issues so fa
I like this dash cam a lot. It’s very small compared with other cameras. I also got the circular polarising lens filter for the camera. The picture quality is extremely good for the price. The most important thing is that it has WIFI. I can see all the video captures via an app on my iPhone, I don’t have to take the micro SD card out of the camera to see the recordings.
Had a few Dashcams. This one is very small and compact. The buttons are very simple and intuitive, although you have to turn the Wi-Fi on manually. After 4 months it is still working, which is always a bonus
I bought this with VANTRUE Dash Cam CPL Circular Polarizing Filter and I would suggest buying them both.
You need to purchase the Wires Hardwire Kit for connecting it to the fuse box for 24/7 hr parking mode. I had one extra from the previous dashcam and I only needed a USB type C to mini USB adaptor.
I have been using this camera for 5 months now and I can say it has been a very good choice.
It has all you need from a dashcam and much more compared to the more expensive one.
the unit is designed very compact and neath easy to set up without obstructing the front view.
The app for mobile phones works perfectly and it connects to my phone with ease and no issue at all.
I have the parking mode on and it does it very intelligently without draining the battery. I had a different dashcam before which drained the battery but I never had any problem with the battery in my car with this one.
I really recommend this one over any other dashcam.
This is my second E1 Lite which installed on another vehicle. The size is perfect and the fact that you don’t need to keep messing with the power cable each time it’s removed from the mounting was a great selling point for me. As for quality and features, it has what I need and more. The only downside so far is that USB connectivity to a Win10 laptop worked only once and is not recognised any more. Tried different cables but to no avail. Any other device connects to the laptop via USB but not this camera. So for now I’m just removing the SD card or use WiFi to transfer videos.
I decided to buy the Vantrue E3 as I wanted a 3 channel camera for my car. I have been using Vantrue dashcams in my van for some time and they have been so good when I needed to replace my car one this was the obvious choice.
Both front and rear cameras feel solid, very well made and are packaged really nicely. They come with a very efficient mounting system of electrostatic pads and 3M stickers, there’s even spare pads and stickers.
Supplied with cigarette lighter outlet, plug in cables which should be plenty long enough for most cars. I am currently unable to use the parking or time stop modes until I purchase a hard wire kit.
Linking to the camera using the app, via wifi is easy and works very well on my Android devices. Once linked, you can view, edit & download footage, change the camera settings or even view live footage.
I especially like the voice control which works really well making the camera truly hands free. The quality of the footage for both day and night is 1st rate and I’m not even using the highest setting or a CPL filter. The audio is really clear, even when driving at speed.
The E3 also comes with a mini basic remote control, which I’ve found pretty useful.
The highest setting on the G Sensor was a little too sensitive for my suspension and was triggered by every large bump on the road, however, this was easily solved in settings as it can be adjusted for all 3 plains ie up/down, side to side and front/rear.
Searching through reviews of many dashcams I settled on the Vantrue E1 as it had all the features that I would like and would be helpful to me.
Important was quality of image (2.5K Sony sensor), Wireless access, Compact size, Easy to use.
All these important aspects are covered completely.
The camera quality warrants a higher price (please don’t raise it). The app compliments the camera and the additional remote control and the fact that the camera is voice controlled is a brilliant design.
I highly recommend this dashcam.
This product is worth every penny, everything you need is included. Runs all day (Hard Wired). Not had any issues yet. Great dashcam. Very easy to install, everything you need in the box. 1st class and outstanding Video quality both in the daytime and nighttime. Plenty of cable to connect the rear camera too. Keep the booklet handy in the car as you’ll forget which button does what.
Added features like Wireless Control and CPL Filter works very well.
Navigating using the VANtrue App is fantastic smooth to work with. Downloading from any three cameras is absolutely Fast. You can take snap pictures instantly and many more.
Only one thing to keep in mind. As this is three way Dash Cam, for Right Hand drive cars you will need to set this Dash cam on the driver side for inside camera view and this will slightly abstract your vision.
The Vantrue E1 mini dash cam is a compact and feature-rich device that can record 2.0K video with HDR, GPS, Wi-Fi, voice control and a remote control. It has a 160-degree wide-angle lens and a 1.54 inch display screen. It also benefits from decent smartphone and computer applications and a magnetic quick-release windscreen mount. The voice control aspect helps keep your hands on the steering wheel while driving. Overall, it is a great dash cam for daytime and equally for night time use . One will need a suitable micro SD card for use with the dash cam . Highly recommended, with it’s great value and very polished features.
Bought this camera for my vehicle to be able to have a record of all the interesting things that happen on the road, as well as to provide good detail for insurance purposes, if needed. Setup was straight forward and everything worked great.
-The camera is detachable, unlike most that are stuck on your windshield. This is great for car theft concerns, and for cold weather or heat wave.
-Cabin Camera-This one is absolutely fantastic for 1080 resolution. The infrared at night is spectacular. Audio is subpar. I more so remove this camera because I care more about the front camera to enable 4k, but a very nice to have.
-Comes with build in build in GPS for speeding.
-The touch screen works well and it’s nice to see what’s being recorded, unlike the other 2 I bought.
-The app works well thus far. No major concerns or issues I’ve ran into. Just know when you’re viewing the footage on your app, you can’t see it on the screen of the dash cam.
-Very affordable and is made really well.
Overall , Quality of the video/picture is great. Sound quality is great as well. Night vision recording is great too. Set up was pretty straight forward and simple. Dash cam does the job it was designed for. No complaints so far.Videos are clear even during low light environment. Quite impress with it. Will definitely consider purchasing another for my car in the near future.
It does what it says in previous reviews. I had mine professionally hard wired. Works a treat, I had the choice of on/off via ignition, or it could’ve bern wired , so that it stays on, until car battery drops to 11 volts. Thus catching out anybody once you’ve parked up and gone.
Great dash cam, easy to install and so simple to set up and use.
Offers great image quality.
Defiantly recommend getting the polarised lens to cut out the reflection from the dashboard.
What a great piece of kit. Great quality, small and compact and easy to install. Only took me 20 minutes to install into my Audi A3. The app feature is very convenient as it lets you view your camera footage without the need to plug in the sd card to your computer. Couldn’t recommend this dashcam more 😉
What a fantastic piece of kit. All you can ask for in a dash cam. Amazing quality, small/non bulky, easy to install, easy to use software. Love the fact that it came with a transparent sticker that goes onto your windscreen to stop the dashcam sticker from damaging your windscreen when uninstalling it. Great price compares with other dashcam companies. Can’t go wrong 10/10
It takes up a small space on the windscreen. Easy to fit without hardwiring. It was in my opinion initially quite complicated to understand but once mastered all went well. One complaint in that the desktop application does not work very well and have resorted to using another application to download contents of camera. One other observation and that is the sensitivity of the camera will make the camera take pictures when driving over rough roads and let’s face it we have many of those in the UK these days, so that is an inconvenience.
The E1 dashcam, while it is small and compact, feels solid and is loaded with many features. It comes well packaged in a box which contains all you need to get up and running except for an SD card which must be purchased separately. I assume the reason for this is to keep the cost of the dashcam lower and it enables you to purchase an SD of the size that suits your particular recording storage needs.
The E1 has an adhesive GPS mount which I was a bit apprehensive about as I am used to Suction mounts. I found however, if planned correctly, it is easy to attach to the windscreen in an optimum and unobtrusive position. The dashcam is so small that in my case, I have it almost hidden behind the rear-view mirror and it therefore does not clutter my drivers view. Before I attached the mount to the windscreen, I downloaded the Vantrue App from the play store to my phone, powered on the dashcam in the car and connected my phone to it via Wi-Fi. I was then able to see “live” on my phone exactly what the dashcam was viewing in various windscreen positions. While I could have used the 1.54-inch screen on the dashcam itself, the bigger screen on my phone was easier to use. Using this method, I was able to select the best windscreen position to mount the camera. I then marked the position on the outside of the windscreen with paper stickers and thoroughly cleaned the inside of the windscreen. Using the external markings as a positioning guide, I attached the supplied electrostatic sticker (which is similar to a screen protector you may fit on a mobile phone), onto which I then stuck the adhesive mount. The dashcam easily slides into and out of the mount and is held solidly in place by a magnet. The car charger, which has a USB port built in for charging your mobile etc., plugs directly into the mount itself so the dashcam can be easily detached at any time to connect directly to a PC. The charger cable is 3.5 meters long, enough in my case (Kuga) to route from the mount to the power socket and be easily hidden.
The dashcam has three small buttons which allow you to set it up, or in my case, I found setting up the dashcam to my preferences was easy using the app. There are many settings that can be changed, some of which are: Recording resolution, Loop recording duration, G-Sensor sensitivity, Collision detection, Motion detection, speed in KMH or MPH, Time and date stamp, Speed stamp, GPS location stamp, Voice control sensitivity, Parking mode and Auto LCD off.
As I mentioned earlier, the dashcam does not come with an SD card so you will have to purchase one separately. It supports an SD card from 32Gb up to 512Gb in size and must be of high quality such as U3 Class 10. Vantrue recommend that you format the SD card at least once a month. This can be done via the app or the dashcam itself, and I was able to set a monthly reminder on the dashcam to do this. Be sure you download any important recordings before formatting as once formatted, all recordings on the SD card are lost.
The E1 also has voice recognition. Some of the commands you can use are “take photo”, “Turn on/off Wi-Fi”, “Turn on/off audio”, and “Lock the Video”. I was driving with the car radio on when I said, “take photo” and it was successful. I tested a few of the other voice commands too and while I mostly listen to chat shows and not loud music, the commands worked which impressed me. If however you do listen to loud radio or if there is a lot of road noise, it may not be as reliable. I also found the “Wi-Fi” commands great as I did not have to go pressing buttons on the dashcam to connect my phone. A two-button small wireless remote is also supplied with the E1. One button allows you to turn on and off audio recording and the other is used to lock the current video and take a photo. This may suit someone in noisy environments or who may not want to use the voice commands. The remote which uses a replaceable CR2032 battery, can be attached with the supplied 3M sticker to the steering wheel, the dashboard or wherever suits best.
There are quite a few resolution settings that can be set for recording quality and while I didn’t test all resolution settings, I found that the quality of recording was very good on those I did test. I live on the edge of a city so I would be doing both city and countryside driving. This would have an impact on recording during darkness as you would not always have street lighting and therefore you may be relying totally on your headlights for recordings. While the recordings are clear, the ability to read number plates, depends greatly on the environment. Things such as speed, day / night-time, sun glare, headlights, streetlights etc. but in the event of an accident, the dashcam footage even if it did not capture the car reg number, will clearly prove who is in the wrong. The Sony sensor and 160-degree lens has a very wide field of view both left and right of the car so it will pick up what’s happening over multiple lanes of traffic.
The E1 can be set for loop recording with file lengths of 1, 3 or 5-minute duration and when the SD card is full, it will continue to record, overwriting the oldest recordings. When the SD card is formatted, three folders are automatically created, “Event”, “Normal” and “Photo”. The inbuilt G-Sensor has different sensitivity settings for the automatic locking and saving of a recording so that if car is hit or shaken, the recording will be locked and saved to the “event” folder and will not be overwritten by normal recordings which continue to be stored in the “Normal” folder. Setting sensitivity too high however may cause the “event” folder to fill up as going over rough road etc. may cause the dashcam to think an “event” has happened. According to the manual, thirty percent of the SD card is allocated to the “event” folder and if the “event” folder becomes full, then new events will overwrite the oldest events. It is therefore good practice to review and download any important events ASAP. The same applies to the “normal” folder.
Recordings can be viewed on the dashcam or within the app on your phone. They can also be downloaded to your phone, or you can connect the dashcam to a PC and download the recordings in this way which is much faster. If viewing recordings on a PC, most compatible MP4 media players will work. I tested this with Windows media player, VLC media player and Films & TV. I also tested it with the Vantrue player that I downloaded from the Vantrue website which utilises the inbuilt GPS information in the recording. This shows your speed, time and date, car reg number (I put in ABC123 for the photos) and will also show your car position and the route of your journey on google maps as you play back the recording.
Like most technology providers these days, new firmware may be released at times for the dashcam which can be downloaded from the Vantrue website. I found it quite an easy process to upgrade the dashcam but make sure you copy any important recordings before you attempt the upgrade. You simply use a PC to copy the new firmware file to the SD card in the dashcam, disconnect from the PC, power up the dashcam on its charger, and wait a minute or so while it updates. Other than a flashing green light, the camera will appear to do nothing during this process so wait, and it will power itself up once finished. You must also format the SD card after the upgrade. I did find that all my settings were lost after this process however it only took a couple of minutes to re-enter them via the app.
In conclusion, I think that this is a great feature rich, good quality dashcam in a small compact size with the bonus of being so easy to set up. While you may not use all its features, I think you won’t go far wrong in selecting the E1. Note: Some of my photos have information blanked out for privacy.
