1. Based on read speed, unless otherwise stated. 1 MB/s = 1 million bytes per second. Based on internal testing; performance may vary depending upon host device, usage conditions, drive capacity, and other factors.
2. 1GB = 1 billion bytes and 1TB = 1 trillion bytes. Actual user capacity may be less depending on operating environment.
3. PCIe Gen 4.0 storage technology requires a compatible motherboard. WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD is backwards-compatible with PCIe Gen3.

Ordered this to replace the 512gb WD standard drive, easy clone of existing drive using tools downloadable from WD site, and straight swap all done in less than an hour! WD also have how to videos for the cloning and replacement so basically foolproof! Would definitely recommend this drive above others simply for these free extras (Acronis drive cloning being the Cherry), saved a possible rebuild/cloud restore, and of course WD reliability!
Got for Legion Go and it works perfectly. Did need go buy something else with it but that’s fine with me. The Hard drive is great and gave nearly 4x the storage than what I had!
I have an old motherboard (ASRock FM2A75 Pro4+) which probably dates back to around 2015 and have two SATA SSDs in use already. Being an old board this pre-dates the introduction of NVMe sockets.
I bought the cheap adapter (Multibao PCIe Pro M.2 NVMe SSD TO PCI-E 3.0 X16 X4 Adapter) and installed this 1Tb SSD in around five minutes, using windows 10 disk manager to recognise and format the disk..
My main problem had been my lack of storage space for windows backup (about 150Gb required). With this installed I have no problems
I recently purchased a Samsung Book 2 laptop, which comes with two M.2 SSD slots. The laptop originally came with a 500GB SSD, but I grew tired of constantly relying on an external hard drive due to the limited storage space. I found a great deal on a 2TB WD SSD and decided it was too good to pass up.
Installing the new SSD was straightforward: first, shut down your PC or laptop, insert the SSD into the slot, then power on your device and enter the BIOS to ensure it’s recognized. Next, boot into your operating system (Windows or Linux) and use a partitioning tool to create the necessary partitions.
The performance has been excellent. I transferred around 250GB of data and was very pleased with both the speed and quality. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with the price and performance of this upgrade.
for me this was a perfect match of speed and price.
Yes there are cheaper drives out there but who wants to put the cheapest storage into your own personal rig when you spend so much on the rest of the components ??
Yes there are faster drives out there but do I really have to spend a load more cash just so I can load things 1 second quicker ??
I dont think so.
Happy with my purchase.
I got this on a sale and it probably the best thing ive bought, i copped it faster than anything. was a no brainer. fast write speeds. easy to install. overall W.
Bought this to put in my Synology 423+ Nas and was literally plug and play. It’s fast and is huge so i will never need to worry about the cache size at all. Well priced and will be purchasing a second if it comes down on price on prime day. Very happy!
Definitely a great purchase , read/write speeds are great however, the only issue I had is that the nvme did not come with the screw/standoff kit which I had to buy separate which is a bit annoying considering how much you spending buying it in the first place
I must have bought this at just the right time because I paid 85 and it’s currently about 30 more. Physical installation was easy but I was replacing a boot drive and that was a pain. I’ve done this before without problem but this time it was a struggle. I used Macrium Reflect to back up my old drive, restored to the new and… it wouldn’t boot. I got it going eventually, I think I selected an option for restore that I had dismissed as not appropriate and bingo, off we go. On reflection using boot repair utilities might have been quicker but I got there in the end. If you’re adding this as a data drive it will be very easy. My mobo only has one M2 slot so that wasn’t an option for me.
Some of you may not believe this but 30 years ago most commoner PC enthusiasts like me had 20 to 40MB hard drives (yes you read that right) and were installing ‘programs’ (the use of the word ‘apps’ wasn’t a thing back then) with multiple 3.5 or 5.25 floppy disks. To purchase said hard drives and floppies was either mail order – either phone a specialist shop directly, or send away form in the post. Several weeks later you got your order. To make a return took months.
So imagine explaining to 1993-me that in the future data can be stored on something a bit thicker and half the height of a credit card, with unimaginable storage sizes and not a (direct) power cable in sight.
Poor 1993-me would have his mind blown. Probably.
But 2023-me takes all this for granted which takes me back to my review.
Looking at this NVME drive through the lens of history it truly is an amazing demonstration of industrial miniaturisation, standardisation and technological advancements.
Looking at it through the lens of today it’s about exciting as a tin of paint. You order it in minutes, you get it within 24hrs, you stick it in your motherboard and it just works. It is and it isn’t a great, amazing, fantastic, wonderful piece of kit all at the same time.
Recommended? Yes absolutely. Just don’t try to fill it up with programs from floppies unless you have a spare year or two.
